Brownies are one of our favourite foods! One time when we were tent camping in a remote area, I decided to make brownies in our Coleman camp stove/oven. Smells and sounds do carry! An elderly couple got into a fight over whether or not he was smelling brownies baking! She called him an "old fool and delusional". He responded is less flattering terms about her lack of cooking skills! My teenagers thought it was hilarious! I never bake brownies without remembering those people fighting! Thank you so much for featuring Palouse company; they are so awesome!
So happy to hear your turning over to freshmilled! We turned cold Turkey 4 years ago and ban all bagged poison in this house. Huge learning curve if you’ve baked a lot before required hockey pucks and door stops then off you go! It’s a health journey! It saved me from meds to live. A story in itself! The bread really changed our lives around here! Listening for more fun recipes. Always ear to ground.
Palouse grains are the most amazing Farm I have found!! I have purchased from 6 different farms. There grains are clean, flavorful and consistent. My new one and only Farm for my grains, legumes . God Bless Palouse Farms!! XO
I opened a loaf of Thomas’ Cinnamon Raisin bread about 2 1/2 months ago. Stuck it in the bread drawer and never finished the rest until about a week ago. No mold. Makes you wonder what the heck they put in it to make it last that long.
Omg Leisa thanks for this recipe. I’ve only been making bread with my wheat berries and these brownies are phenomenal. My grandkids will never know the difference! 😊
Thank you Sutton's Daze and Palouse brand. I was caught in the storm yesterday with no power so Im catching the replay. I was finaly able to confirm to receive the newsletter. Cannot wait to try this recipe.
Thank you for going through this month and sharing so much information about the different types of flour. I had no idea there were so many or the uses! The brownies look amazing!
Brownies and Hazelnuts! Two of my favorite things. My husband and I have gotten rid of all purpose flour and have been using Palouse wheat since December. Total game changer. Bread is amazing. Can't wait to try these brownies!
We’ve gone wholly off store bought flour. Grinding it all myself. Struggling a little getting breads to rise correctly but still tastes great. As a fellow Washingtonian and having spent a lot of time in the neck of the Palouse I really like supporting “local”.
I have found these videos very helpful. It has been great to see a recipe for each type you featured, and the helpful information of each one as well. Thank you!
Oh Leisa! This is a food tease! Writing the recipe as it's too hot in Arkansas right now to be turning on my oven. Thank you to you and Palouse for the great information this month!
Your neighbors must love You! You are always giving the extra food away. The brownies look divine and I will definitely be making the pizza with red wheat.
Thank you for all you do.! We are learning so many different things. Looking forward to canning much more this season., Even having MS, it is a joy to can wan I do know and learn more. Will be making canned meat balls this week and have placed my order with the farm for Roma tomatoes to make spaghetti sauce when the tomatoes are in.
Thank you for all the information you’ve shared about the different wheats over the past month. I want to change over to fresh-milled flour. I’m sure it’s much healthier than the all-purpose flour we’re using now.
Could not find the video for Saturday's drawing; was it taken down? So glad you posted a recipe using whole wheat to make brownies. Chocolate is definitely my weakness and now I can make a healthier version and from scratch. Just getting into milling my own flour and making whole wheat breads. It has been a little bit of trial and error. Would love see more recipes and especially with the heritage wheats. Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
Looks fantastic! We just made a sourdough brownie with soft white wheat, and it was so good! We are going to have to make it for church one of these days.
I too love Palouse wheat ,and have several sealed buckets stored. I don't have red spring wheat yet, but hope to soon. I did not know it was so versatile!! Brownies look like a good place to start using it.
Brownies !!! Yum. I am slowly expanding what I make with home milled flour. Gonna have to use my milled flour next time I make a pan of chocolaty goodness.
This is exciting to learn. Interestingly, my great uncle was a wheat farmer in the Davenport area of eastern Washington. This may or may not be considered the Palouse area. Of course, if I get into whole wheat and home milling versus commercial flour, I'm going to have to buy a grain mill. Oh, the kitchen toys I am accumulating!
I have red wheat that I am using that is over 50 years of age. Taste great.
Wow!😍
