I am astounded at the intelligence, vision & initiative displayed by this young girl & the way she single-handedly introduced Jimi to his audience. When many others dismissed Jimi she saw his potential. In the manner of a true muse she nurtured his talent & helped him to have faith in his own genius. Thank you Linda for being there when Jimi needed you & ushering in one of the greatest talents of the 20th century.

I read Jimi Hendrix's girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham's autobiography a while back and she recounted a story of her friend Linda Money, the wife of musician Zoot Money, attacking this poor woman, in the late 1960's, in The Bag O Nails nightclub, in London, due to some unhappy history between Kathy and Linda. So sad.

    Chas Chandler is often credited for discovering Hendrix. Linda Keith delivered Hendrix to Chas and then Chas had the resource to go from there - sure. England was great for Jimi and all was just so timely. Unfortunately - Chas delivers Jimi to Mike Jeffrey. (Was there ever a comparison drawn of other artists that worked under Jeffrey he treated them?) The industry did not grow with Jimi. Miles was much more an assured and confident musician with attitude. Jimi was not so much and he really needed a business advocate when he started to want to expand, get cachet and turn the balance of power for those who worked FOR HIM. It seems that as long as Jeffrey was connected to Chas (manager) and Jimi (artist) that was not likely to happen. There are a lot of theories abound as to that dynamic. In the end it is reported that Jimi wanted out of the Jeffery contract near it's end but still wanted Chas to be re-upped as his manager. This lead to an alternate theory of his death.Then there is the Monica D factor and if that was a coincidental part of a perfect storm or if there was indeed a conspiracy. In any event Monica's credibility was shaky and shady. For me - learning about Hendrix in my teens was wonderful (music) and so sad (Jimi's life). His death was tragic and quite probably unjust.

      @precbsfender 3 года назад +3

      Jimi owned many guitars, yes Jimi was influenced by Isley Bros, but even more so by Curtis Mayfield, Jimi always remembered and admired Mayfield's white stratocaster. Its true, Jimi was given several guitars, he also hock many guitars, thats exactly why Linda said "we had to get him another guitar". Its a well DOCUMENTED FACT, which can be found in Michael Heatley & Roger Mayers book (Jimi HENDRIX GEAR), that White Stratocaster was Keith's Richards 64. Linda took that White Stratocaster without Keith's permission, true story..also WELL DOCUMENTED.

But she had her troubles with substance abuse, and was made a ward of court by her parents. Cathy was the perfect girl for Jimi at the time, she was more grounded and ended up marrying a Doctor. I guess he didnt need a trophy at the time just a girl about town who could show him around, make him feel at home in a new country while he got the Experience together.
