Psalm 16 Monologue

"Keep me safe, my God. For in You, I’ve found my refuge. I say it again and again: You are my
Lord. Without You, I have nothing good, nothing worth holding onto. And as for Your people-
the holy ones here in this land-they are noble, they are radiant. They are my joy, my delight.
But those who chase after other gods, those who bow to empty idols… They only invite sorrow
upon sorrow. Not me. I won’t raise a cup to them, won’t even let their names cross my lips. Lord,
You alone are my portion. My cup. You’ve made my lot secure, and the lines of my life? They’ve
fallen in pleasant places. My inheritance-it is good. It is more than I could ask for. I will praise
You, Lord, for You guide me. Even in the dark of night, my heart whispers Your wisdom. I keep
my eyes fixed on You, always at my side, and because You are here-I will not be shaken. That’s
why my heart is glad, my spirit rejoices, and even my body-yes, even this frail shell-rests
secure. For You won’t abandon me to the grave. You won’t let Your faithful one see decay.
You’ve shown me the path of life, filled me with joy in Your presence, and promised eternal
pleasures at Your right hand."
