A friend of mine had one of those in the 80s, only in red. He sadly lost his licence (not in the Jag) but somebody had to take the E-Type out for a run. I am so glad he asked me.
about 15yrs ago, I remember following a survivor, red paint work had gone all milky, but body looked rust free, I was surprised how narrow the track was on these cars, still a looker though.
There's one thing that's often overlooked about the E-type : It's practical on a daily basis simply because it has a sizeable trunk... Of course most people would simply ignore that detail and focus on its timeless beauty and handling and performance and they'd be right... But the fact that it has a big trunk makes mine usable daily, fitting an amp and a couple of guitars in their flight-cases in the trunk is no problem and there's still room to spare...
Beautiful car and would be in my dream garage. The Series 1 3.8 is my favourite as prefer the 3.8 engine to the 4.2 though the 4.2 has a much nicer gearbox.
Tell us more about that Saab 9-3 Sportcombi! Oh and the E-type is lovely too. It's surprising how different camera angles flatter or don't flatter the profile of the coupe, while the roadster looks great no matter how you look at it.
Not easy to drive ??? it must be you mate, ok it has no power steering BUT if it has the tyres at the right pressure and all the steering UJ joints oiled up it has very light steering. it is a very easy car to drive.
Also I thought it was a little strange that no where in this video did you ever look at the engine compartment. Was it too dirty and in poor condition to show off on camera?
Unfortunately this car has a major mistake with the restoration of the interior. If it is indeed a 1963 3.8L S1 car the center console is NOT supposed to have upholstery on it. The 1962 and 1963 S1 E-types had aluminum panels covering the top of the center console, on the plate around the radio and the background panel around the center instruments. Is it possible this is actually a later 4.2L S1 car rather than the early 3.8L S1 as claimed in the description and as described in the video? If you have any doubts about this see the video from Jay Leno's garage where he shows his white 1963 S1 E-type coupe that is absolutely original or see the JCNA S1 E-Type judges guide or refer to the excellent AGUAR E-TYPE SIX CYLINDER originality guide book by Dr. Thomas F. Haddock
Not sure I agree about the aluminium trim panel. It was in July 1963 that the centre instrument panel changed from aluminium to black and the top of the transmission tunnel changed from aluminium to leather. The source for this date is 'Factory Original Jaguar E-type' written by Anders Clausanger. So, the final 3.8 litre cars did not have the aluminium trim. I dont know the build date of the 3.8 in the video. Personally I think that the aluminium trim really 'lifts' the look of the cabin and makes it nicer. I hope this helps.
Don't trash Her. I was 5 Years old when this was made. Britain showed the world the best equally with Italy for the most Sexy of cars ever. Today I feel the same. As German cars always copying and the French are doing fine as always. GBR... :o)
@@mikedrivetribe8314 I just prefer the design of newer sports/hypercars 😳 I'm 34, so not young, but not older either. I grew up on 90s supercars but I still prefer 2000s and 2010s super/hypercars.
That is honestly one of the most beautiful cars in the world
Agreed!

Bought a 1966 D Reg one in 1973 for £475. Great car.
This thing is beautiful, long nose, short cabin
It is quite something!
You've been seduced by" the most beautiful car in the world " Mr. Ferrari uttered those words when he saw the "e"type at it's unveiling in Geneva .

New to your channel - great stuff

Where you nervous about something happening to the car like a scratch or a pebble hit? I would of been for sure...
It's one of these situations where you just need to get stuck in and drive it, worrying makes it more stressful than it needs to be!
On its release on 15 March 1961 Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made".

Why wouldn’t you press the clutch before starting? I don’t understand that advice. Pressing clutch allows starter to only turn motor, not gearbox
