I am seriously in love with how much it is tucking those wheels man. This thing is perfect. Also hyped for you and Corey to be reunited and working on projects together again!
i think personally need to keep the 15s! cut the rockers off and get that rear end a whole lot closer to the ground, but i would also cut to the very last mm near the window, body drop it over the pan but engine and box raise it to lose the rear camber, the less camber should give you more clearance to the window then you may even get a 17 with an elastic band on there. that type 3 motor looking a whole lot more necessary right now lol
Heck yes man! That’s exactly my plan, I want to raise the pan a bit more to alleviate the suspension at low and aired out heights! And yes, totally cutting those sills off 😂
Props to Corey for making a big move! Love the progress on the SP it's gonna be an epic build to watch! Thanks to Eva Resto i'll also be getting rid of some daylight under the rear of my car Monday!!
I look forward to every episode! Love seeing your projects and progress. I have been looking into EvaResto for a full air ride kit for my 63 bug. I’m excited to see the suspension part of the auto union on the beetle pan. It’s gonna look killer! 🤙
But my heart hurts when I see the beautiful 1000SP being sawn in half. It's also the one with the more pointed tail fins, until 1962/63. I sat in it as a child; my father bought it new in 1959. The DKW 1000 Sp was built here in my city, in what was then the DKW factory in Düsseldorf-Derendorf. Our city's coat of arms was the horn button. This plant now produces the Mercedes Sprinter and was taken over by Mercedes in the 1960s, when Mercedes still owned "Auto Union" (that was Audi, Wanderer, Horch & DKW) and then sold it. “Auto Union” then became “Audi”. The 1000SP was called the little Thunderbird! Greetings Klaus from Düsseldorf
That is amazing! I have been to Düsseldorf! And yes, I know the history of Auto Union well! This 1000SP was too rotted and rusty to restore, so I chose to hot rod it and be able to drive it again!
Dang!!! This is a fun build!! I have myself been dreaming about turning one of these into a project to piss old purist coots off! And maybe paint in an original 50's Ford color to piss off the Thunderbird guys as well? 😀 I wouldn't imagine putting it on a VW chassis, but I understand why you do, and I wish you good luck with the rest of the build! I find it fun that someone over there in big luxurious 'murica is taking such a shine to these quirky little european cars! It's making me hope you'll find a SAAB 92 or 96 to slam! (don't touch the 93's though, they're too precious. 😀) Everyone who's modifying them over here are just taking the rally route, it's so boring. Hey, keep up the good work! Thanks for uploading, greetings from Sweden
Mannn! What an awesome update on the Auto union! That thing will sit pretty! Cool to see Corey on board, as well as eva resto. 16’s on aircooled are underrated and always look so good!! I still think my Kleeblatts would look cool on either the auto union or the 700 😅 but you will pick the right wheels for sure!
For future reference, put a bar horizontally across the door opening so you can lift the body from it instead of under the body. Then you can actually see the clearance without lift arms in the way. Also means you can set it on the actual ground to get an even better look.
Super cool episode man! Be sure to check 16in tire sizes before going that route they may be goofy if i remember right. I havnt looked at them in a while
@@JohnLudwick mint! I remember trying to find 195s with a small side wall a while back and not being able to find them. A 205 on that thing is gonna be super grippy!
I don't own/build any slammed cars, but yours are the most fun to look at because of the perfect patina, but mostly because your WHEEL choices are more STOCK looking. That makes all the difference. You have good taste! Love the weird sh!t. I have a '67 Jag 420-compact, only 976 imported to the US of A. Definitely love DKWs, DAFs, all that. Would love to see you do your voo-doo on a '60s Borgward Isabella!
John, can you cheat the whole pan back by like 2" and see if that gets you a little more clearance under the rear window, or will that throw off the cabin position too much? It seems like the wheels are sitting a little fore in the arches which is why I ask. This thing is gonna look mad sitting on the ground. 👌
What about building out the rear to make it as low as the sils ? Setting up for 17’s will make the body look smaller too. PS I like big wheels I cannot lie 😂
They already gave you a cut line to use halfway down the sill, it'd be rude not to really. The wheels on it at the moment don't look too undersized so a 16" is probably going to be about right, we'll know better when you get playing with options which I'm very much looking forward to. Really hope when you're done with it you get a chance to park it with a Thunderbird to show off just how small and low it really is.
You need some deep ass dish on this ride. Call your boys at Rotoforms and have them build you some deep dish wheels maybe build some BBS or something insane. Welcome COREY!!
By all means, do NOT Cut the Rocker. It will make the roof Look too tall and out of proportion. Sectioned Cars really Look stupid Extend the rear lower quarters downwards instead
In 2030 they use coats of aluminum to create the body of any car. After 7 Layers there bullet proof there's a composite sandwiched in between the elastic fibers reflexes the like a droplet in the lake.....
Cut the Rockers Off!! Also nice to see you and Cory reunited
Agreed, cut it to ridge.
I just love all your builds
Excited to see more low and rusty builds.
It means a lot, Jay!! Im seriously going to come to Australia and do cool car stuff with you!!
I was about to comment “didn’t somebody already bag one of these?” Then i realized that was you 🤣🤣🤣
In the process at least 😂😂😂 Dude I am seriously LOVING the CRX build videos!! Been watching all of them! So sick!
@@JohnLudwick well thank you sir 🙌 keep up the good work 👍
Cut the rocker. Give Corey a hug for me ❤️
I'm watching all of the ads for you now, brother. Let's get you guys paid
Haha I really appreciate that, man!!
So happy Cory is back !!
I am seriously in love with how much it is tucking those wheels man. This thing is perfect.

The content we've all been waiting for
Dude I’m so excited for this. And the future of the channel with Cory. You two doing this work together is always a great thing to watch.
Also yes cut rockers. Go big or go home! 😊
I'm really happy for Corey being able to move to Tennessee and I'm really happy/excited about the shop updates.

No!!! Read my message why Not! Extend the rear quarters downwards instead and maybe even the wheel openings
Cut half the rocker off!!!! So excited to see this thing all done and laid out 🤤🤤🤤
Max involved, Corey is back... Good episode.
Props to Corey for making a big move! Love the progress on the SP it's gonna be an epic build to watch!
Thanks to Eva Resto i'll also be getting rid of some daylight under the rear of my car Monday!!
Heck yes man! That’s awesome!
The Boys are Back! Couldn't love the energy more!
Glad to see Corey. Keep it up fella's!
Excited to see Corey on the channel! Stoked for both of you ❤
Great to see Corey aboard! He really helps your confidence to jump into big projects!
Great to see Corey in the channel again. Maybe his move will also help on pushing out some new podcast episodes?
Love to see the growth! Cut those rockers!!
Well done buddy awesome stuff lots of love from south Africa Johannesburg 🇿🇦
Happy for the both of you! Can’t wait to see what you guys do next!

I hope your channel will grow, because what you build is insane. Keep it going 👍🏻
This car is going to be soo sick. Excited to see more of this build.
I’m so happy to see Corey and you back together working on these insane projects! The rockers have to go 😂
Thanks man!
So glad Cory has finally made the move. Huge expectations. Full support.! ❤

Congrats guys! The car is going to crazy when it's done
Cut the rockers in 1/2! That would be so low and just crazy but in a good way 👍
So stoked for you dudes! Keep crushing it. Also my vote is always bigger wheels. UK style forever.
Damn that’s a tough choice. 17s would look nuts, but 15-16s and cutting the seal would be unreal.
Pound those 4 rings into the pavement Bro & welcome to the show Corey
Such a crazy build. It’s going to be epic!
Thanks man!
Wow. Looks really promising. Will be another stand out car. Maybe even more than the BMW.
Explain the fear of your tires hitting the rear window to normal people 😂 Great to have Corey back!!
😂😂😂

I'm a wheel guy, I'd run the 17s and just cut the pinch welds, you can always cut more if you don't like it
16s for sure! Look in to limebugs 3piece 16s
I’m a 100% sure this thing will break the whole internet once it’s finished😍
Also it’s so great to see you and Corey reunited 🫶🏻
Rockers definitely need to go. Glad to see Corey there!
Hey. Chattanooga. I'm 30 minutes up the road in Cleveland. Welcome to the greatest state in the union.
That’s awesome man! We’re up there frequently! I love this area
@@JohnLudwick God's country
Super cool episode man! Be sure to check 16in tire sizes before going that route they may be goofy if i remember right. I havnt looked at them in a while
Thanks man! And yea I’d run my usual 205/40/16! I run those on almost every car 😂
@@JohnLudwick mint! I remember trying to find 195s with a small side wall a while back and not being able to find them. A 205 on that thing is gonna be super grippy!

That Jaguar sounds awesome!

This build will be nuts
Thank you!
I'd think 16s would look better anyway. Cut that sill, get some funky 16 inch wheels and go nuts
Absolutely love this build..check out cage 66 for shortened arms to help center the wheel. Hope to see this in helen! My opinion is widened 15s!
Take 1/2 the double step rocker off and see your rear clearance, gonna be super close on 17s
18:40 time mark is what I came to see 🤘🏻🍻
What about building out the rear to make it as low as the sils ?

john this channel is so good and i can't wait for the future of it. what cars has Cory got?
time to think about some proper video cameras too i reckon, your work deserves it.
Thanks man!
Looks so good
Little wheels and cut the rockers is my vote!
This is going to be sick 😍😍😍
Thanks Michael!
You need some deep ass dish on this ride. Call your boys at Rotoforms and have them build you some deep dish wheels maybe build some BBS or something insane. Welcome COREY!!
Cut off the rockers and consider a 4 inch narrow beam with the drop spindles for the front
Go big! Cut the rockers, rebuild them with thick wall square tube for strength!
That 3/4 shot 🤌
Awesome build, cut the rockers so she lays nice and flat 🤌🤌🤌
Thanks Matt!
Eva restored has awesome stuff ...I've been eye spying them for over a year
Yes man! Get some of their parts!!
It's got to be the 16's dude, like you say there is very little to save so no need to worry about the purists 🙌🏻
I agree!
John, please take those irreplaceable tail light lens off while you fabricate. Makes me nervous. :)
crazy build. Following closely. I know the Auto Union will be a head-turner
Cut everything possible lol I think some 15in cosmics would be dope and you can buy them pretty cheap in 5x205s
Is there any chance you could cut the sill and run 16’s with a little bit of white wall action?
Would love that!
Cut the sill in half, but convert the rear end to IRS so you don't get that extreme camber change. Silly I know but it will look better.
Cool project turkey run daytona is so awesome
I think it needs the top chopped too.
leave the rocker, modify the rear quarter panel... create the illusion of it being lower
go for 16/15 they d look amazing
If you Add rockers to the rearend of the car you don’t have to be as close to the rear window.
Cut those sills and put 16"s!!
Dude this thing is obsurd! Keeeeeen to see the progress
Cut it!!! Crazy! 🤣✌🏻
awesome video awesome car
Extend the rear quarter
This the windows thru the walls, till the sweat drips down my …..
"...15" Cragars..."😎🤙
What if you do a motor and trans lift would that help any I have a bagged ghia and bug
How far downdoes the engine sit?
Keep cutting, lower the better.
Leave the rocker and add a taper to the rear quarter. That will work better for playin arse draggin with bags.
Cut the sill off 15s with taller tyres.
I didn't like it, because I don't like Volkswagen. But I liked the challenge of the project. Congratulations!
My vote is 17" wheels with half of the rocker thickness removed.
that 700 bmw has moskwich 408 taillights ? :)))
Very similar!
By all means, do NOT Cut the Rocker. It will make the roof Look too tall and out of proportion. Sectioned Cars really Look stupid Extend the rear lower quarters downwards instead
Build the rear clip lower...
Welcome Corey . Now get to building time is wasting away.
This build is already to the point of no return. Lay it out. So much of this car is already cut, why not go all in. Lay it out.
Why don't you just extend the body in the back so that it touches the ground and then put ground effects along the side
Someone should mention that two 4x4's do not add up to 8"
Yes I know, it’s close enough for a car vlog, we’re not building a house 😂
