Does anyone else think Sondra Radvanovsky sounds a bit like Maria Callas? She’s got that liquid dark middle voice and her high notes have a similar ring.
That’s a fantastic comparison, including I think from a voice type standpoint. I think Rad has been much less reckless though in terms of repertory and has a more secure technique.
Volumen normalito. Timbre no bello.
This Opera requires a flexible, effortless voice and perfect diction. Due to his throaty voice technique (Voce ingolata), his perfomance isn't as good as many other Tenors. For this Opera i prefer Tenors like Franco Corelli, Mario del Monaco, Placido Domingo, Marcelo Alvarez, Giovanni Martinelli, Aureliano Pertile. His Performance looks a bit stressed and I missed the effortlessness in his singing and acting ! I think, Jonas Kaufmann has passed his zenith.
Muchos de ellos ya están muertos... Hicieron historia...
Even in a standard production staging is weird. Can you imagine Tebaldi and del Monaco singing. B natural to each other and not the audience! Small, but typical denigration of vocal art for the sake of some bogus ‘dramatic’ effect.
This is one of the best operas ever composed!!!! If you think this is a 4th rate opera, your taste tells me that I definitely don't want to hear the operas that will be 1th rate to you!
@@georgesclermont1911 Walkyre, Gotterdammerung and Otello would be 1th rate as well. Although it is really difficult to compare German Opera and Italian Opera. Overall, different types of voice required. Sondra for exemple is not a voice for Wagner. Neither is Kaufmann actually, although he sings the lighter Wagner's. Cosi is Mozart, what means that is always well written but is far to be a masterpiece. I learned to like Cosi when I sang it but it doesn't compare with Chernier. I would rather watch 10 productions of Chernier in a row before watch one of Cosi. Andrea Chernier is excitement, real Italian Opera. The public goes crazy with it, not with Cosi. People admire Cosi and that's it. Orphee e Euridicy is simply the most boring Opera ever written. I watched in the theater and it seemed like torture. Almost no one in the public were enjoying it. If this work would never be performed again, no one would care but everyone would be really, really sad if they don't perform Chernier anymore.
@@CarlosGomes-wi2ti Kaufman not a wagnerian! ! ! Have you heard or seen Parsifal, Walkyrie, Lohengrin? Americans would not like Orfeo which is miles away from Zeffirelli's Bohême, a favorite in the country. Why do I get the feeling that you are a singer that went nowherre?
@@georgesclermont1911 did you hear Kaufmann live? Small voice! You have this feeling because you're stupid! Go listen to your "wonderful" Orphee hahaha. What a wonderful taste you have!!
Bravo tutti, but especially Sondra!
An exciting evening at the Liceu; I would love to have been there

Wow.. very dramatic finale.Bravi!
Quel duo merveilleux !

Wonderful!!!!
Dúo muy bueno, orquesta un tanto fuerte
Chapeau.
Exceptional ! Thanks for the post! I saw this gem too on Manday March 12-th in Barcelona :)
Kauffman sound like a baritone in this part. His voice seems to have darkened considerably since I last saw him at the Met.
Absolutely agree!!!!!
Not a baritone but a bad tenor, finished now alas !
Does anyone else think Sondra Radvanovsky sounds a bit like Maria Callas? She’s got that liquid dark middle voice and her high notes have a similar ring.
Sondra sounds nothing like Maria Callas
Get your ears checked
Kaufmann is really better with Rodvanowsky and Westbrook than with Harteros
Wonderful4
She reminds me of Elena Souliotis , same kind of built in excitement.
Hope she lasts longer!!
That’s a fantastic comparison, including I think from a voice type standpoint. I think Rad has been much less reckless though in terms of repertory and has a more secure technique.
She has lasted about 30 years longer already.

Sara D Ambrosca
l'acuto finale non ha nessuna importanza .
come cantano ?
idem ...
