You are correct. After the antilag it read 14.7:1, default for no signal. The AEM sensor was on it's way out and we had a separate sensor monitored via the laptop in the car.
The heads were heavily ported with +1mm valves on the intake and exhaust. You can make big numbers on the stock heads and cams with the right turbo. I can understand that you want to keep your red. FP makes awesome turbos :)
Copper is more conductive than the commonly used iridium. The trade off is that they don't last nearly as long. Most stock or mild turbo cars can run an iridium plug for over 10,000 miles without any issues; whereas a high boost engine requires all the spark it can get. I have seen best results with the copper plugs, and changing them often. 150hp per cylinder is no joke, every little detail needs the utmost attention.
depends on what year STI. a new one will cost you around 35,000 and you will be at 305hp at the crank. then you will need a bigger inter cooler, bigger fuel pump, remap the ecu, and a bigger turbo. look at around 5,000-8,000 for this. then I would upgrade the suspension with some whiteline's , and then sticker griper tires. that stuff then that stuff another 4,000-8,000. you could save some money and get a wrx and go from there.
this vid put a smile on my face the thought of running from the cops in my car seams pointless because its to slow to outrun them so I only run if they get delayed like turning around or really far back if I had this car on the freeway and there was a cop I wouldn't even think about stopping
Are you sitting down? Sounds crazy but right around $21,000 in parts plus our labor to get the car where it is right now. That includes the engine, clutch, turbo setup, and axles. It really adds up when you factor in every piece.
I don't need an sti to make the power or handling of one. I bought a spec. B with the same transmission suspension as the sti. The went and built a shortblock from a 2008 sti and maxed out the BNR 16g that i previously bought for it. It's not nearly as fast as this one but at 19.5 psi I'm seeing 315awtq around 2850 rpm's
sick ride man. that's a fast ass 4 cylinder but i agree with some of the other people on here. it's never too safe going 100+ in broad daylight with other cars on the road and all it takes is one person not paying attention to cut you off. i apologize for being your father, i enjoy the videos :D
Gear out in her at 172mph? Very nice, you have a lot of work into her. Good stuff. Might be safer playing in the middle of the night when no one is around though :-D
How do you have about 300hp on a stock WRX? You would have about 265hp at the CRANK. Add a Cold Air Intake.. about $350 for a quality one. Add a turbo back exhaust. $1500ish installed depending on exhaust system purchased. Cobb accessport, $650.
what stuff would be best to get my 08 wrx more power. right now from the previous owner only thing done to this 08 wrx was exhaust and 2011 wrx wheels. so I'm around 195-210 at the wheels and I want to be 300-400.
It's all good. And you can drift if it has a goof amount of power or in low traction situations i.e. rain, snow, gravel. Other than that awd's usually can't break traction and maintain a drift.
If you were buying a car with over twice the amount of power it came with from the factory, how would you expect it to be used? It was built to do this.
are you sure it wasn't a older pre 08 wrx. the 08 and newer wrx's have the legacy gears in them and can take more power. up to 500hp then after that need to be custom built. the wrx are like glass.
This is pretty close to what I'd like to do when I get out in the real world after school. Minus the whole methanol and crazy boost party. I'd love to get a newer STI and work it up to about 400hp and just be content with that...seems to me like your car is too dangerous for its own good but you seem to be very reasonable when you put the power down. Nice work sir!
what are the specs on your heads if you don't mind me asking? I have a built/balanced/blueprinted bottom end running fp red and support mods +tbe. im making 390whp @350ft/lbs trque to the ground. Im trying to increase torque to mid 400s and close to 500whp with headjob and cams on pump. and over 500whp on e85.
sick car man, how long did it last before it needed serious maintenance? im just curiouse because i plan on professionally building my own sti one day and wasnt sure how reliable it would be.
I got meself a WRX 2006, I have about 300hp. Could you give me some tips how to upgrate sertain parts, and what is cheap to buy but still gifs you a lot of HP?.
To break it down, sleeves are just what they sound like. You insert a sleeve into the cylinder (usually about the length of which the piston travels) to add reinforcement to the block; its a sleeve for a piston like a jacket sleeve is for your arm. The stock EJ257 engine is sleeved, but this guy is running aftermarket sleeves. Probably a slight over bore with bigger pistons/sleeves etc.
^^^Seriously?! If I was going to buy a brand new 2013 STI, how and who would you recommend build it to have around 500hp to the ground. Could I do this for $60K all said and done? TY
very nice car..mine should be completed this fall...element built..and I assembled..and running e85 should be over the 700 mark with all i have done..but love the video
Damn nice build bro. My build is very similar to that except my guy tells me 750cc injectors are going to be more than enough since I will be tuning on pure meth, not 50/50. I am kind of nervous if we are going to max out cause of fuel injectors, but we'll see....I trust that he is right. I tried to tell him I wanted to go for at least 820cc to play it safe, but he's like nah 750 is more than enough blah blah blah. Haha got my fingers crossed :P. Oh yea what's your compression ratio on the 101.5 mm pistons? I am assuming lowered since you bored it out. I went the opposite route and went 99.75mm but did 10:1 compression ratio. I feel like that is an experiment and we shall see......porche turbo's have almost 10:1, so I think it will work out well with the pure meth it will be putting me about 130 octane so higher compression I suppose will do...
That is not correct. In AEM this feature is referred to as "Drag-Style Anti Lag". The act of retarding spark and richening fuel to a point when combustion explosion is happening inside the exhaust manifold/turbine housing is known as anti lag- exactly what was happening at 1:45. Notice the popping? Based on your knowledgeable activity on NASIOC I figured you knew this ;)
Love the sound of equal length headers on a high-revving Subaru!
I like how that Ford Flex got passed by you, then cut you off getting on the freeway, then managed to stay in front of you the rest of the way.
Use your turn signals.
no
wouldn't you want a colder spark to decrease knock, instead of a hotter spark to increase knock...
what he meant was, they have better materials to transfer the spark, the downside is, you have to change em every 3k-5k
You are correct. After the antilag it read 14.7:1, default for no signal. The AEM sensor was on it's way out and we had a separate sensor monitored via the laptop in the car.
Great vid! You must have giant signs on the outside of your Subie that say "Please randomly change lanes to cut me off." Wreckin' your flow indeed.
Thanks for giving us STi drivers a bad name. Fucking drivin like that....
Calculated ~207mph at redline in 6th gear. I do believe it has the power to overcome the aerodynamics but I'm not sure how long it would take.
5:52 look at him looking back. "i cant believe that i just over took a scoobie time to loose him now"
The heads were heavily ported with +1mm valves on the intake and exhaust. You can make big numbers on the stock heads and cams with the right turbo. I can understand that you want to keep your red. FP makes awesome turbos :)

i have my cursor set at 1:49-1:58.....i cant get past that :)
dude all i gotta say is WOWW....mad props to ur car....
this vid put a smile on my face the thought of running from the cops in my car seams pointless because its to slow to outrun them so I only run if they get delayed like turning around or really far back if I had this car on the freeway and there was a cop I wouldn't even think about stopping
sick car mate ,love the video.
this is a great video you guys are actually having fun!
Are you sitting down? Sounds crazy but right around $21,000 in parts plus our labor to get the car where it is right now. That includes the engine, clutch, turbo setup, and axles. It really adds up when you factor in every piece.
Mine is a 04 Java Black trying to get a set of Magnesium Blue Volk te37SL wheels..very hard to find in my lug pattern
Thats a rapid piece of work you have there.
Yes. Rotated turbo. The gears were REM hardened according to the previous owner. Either way, a stock STi gearbox will take this kind of power all day!
Holy Mother of GOD!!! That thing is a beast!!!! Awesome vid.
I don't need an sti to make the power or handling of one. I bought a spec. B with the same transmission suspension as the sti. Fantastic Car.. Just bought one myself. Detroit is not far from me... Sarnia, Ontario :)
been reading your build thread, this things just fucking sick!
At 1:50 when he launches its like a rev limiter what is it called how he launches like that
That sounded sick when he did the launch
Agreed. I bought an Evo9, then bought an 05 STI. The Evo ALWYS made more power. I was making 412whp in the stock turbo and stock block.
no he has a launch control rev limiter. He isn't red lining anything.
Are you sure this wasn't a regular WRX? The 5 speeds can't handle big power, but people are going 700-800whp on the stock STI 6 speeds.
Gear out in her at 172mph? Very nice, you have a lot of work into her. Good stuff. Might be safer playing in the middle of the night when no one is around though :-D
Nice where are you from in MI? From Lake Orion here, you should bring this monster to Woodward when it warms up.
How does he keep the car at a certain rpm when launching and it makes the popping sound
Nice car, Q; Is this a rotated turbo set up and are you still using the stock 6sp box?
Nice car man, i bet shes a blast to drive
Didn't "skimp". Alot of people run the copper plugs on big turbo cars. These had roughly 700 miles on them and needed to be changed soon.
what stuff would be best to get my 08 wrx more power. right now from the previous owner only thing done to this 08 wrx was exhaust and 2011 wrx wheels. so I'm around 195-210 at the wheels and I want to be 300-400.

Not anti lag. Just 2 step, I hate it when people say I got anti lag yo but really just have 2 step
If you were buying a car with over twice the amount of power it came with from the factory, how would you expect it to be used? It was built to do this.
Any new videos of this beast coming?
beautiful launch control
can you give us a little more details about the headwork, i'm wondering what gets it to 8k
more than just internals and heads. but a whole new upgraded oil system for starters.
Yes, good quality parts will cost you. A cobb accessport alone is around $500
Love this car. I want to build something like it in the future. Props
are you sure it wasn't a older pre 08 wrx. the 08 and newer wrx's have the legacy gears in them and can take more power. up to 500hp then after that need to be custom built. the wrx are like glass.
car is too fresh man. sounds great
It has FFS in the AEM, was just playing here. The car needs shifter bushings.
Sick as hell! Whereabouts in Michigan do you live?
This is pretty close to what I'd like to do when I get out in the real world after school. Minus the whole methanol and crazy boost party. I'd love to get a newer STI and work it up to about 400hp and just be content with that...seems to me like your car is too dangerous for its own good but you seem to be very reasonable when you put the power down. Nice work sir!
It will be out this year. Keep an eye out at potbelly and the triangle.
i think you're referring to the kid driving his dad in the hpf m3
what are the specs on your heads if you don't mind me asking? I have a built/balanced/blueprinted bottom end running fp red and support mods +tbe. im making 390whp @350ft/lbs trque to the ground. What does he mean by popping at 6K due to spark plugs. Does work out spark plugs cause rich or lean condition or niether?
Worn out spark plugs I meant...
Do you live in VA cuz I've seen that license plate on a subie b4
Anti-lag launch at 1:45...? Lots of people refer to launch control and anti-lag as the same thing but they are not. That be launch control.
Thanks man! We're over here trying to stand up to EVOs haha
Nice car man, looks like it pulls really hard.
keep up the good work dude
I got meself a WRX 2006, I have about 300hp. Could you give me some tips how to upgrate sertain parts, and what is cheap to buy but still gifs you a lot of HP?.
Copper plugs shouldn't they be NGK iridium's that probably why you are getting a popping noise at 6000 rpm unless I am missing something
Can you pm me the link to your build thread? I wanna see this beast being built! :D
The car is receiving E85 and some more goodies this Spring! Goal is 800whp on Mustang dyno.
It is amazing, do you have to change the gear box?
great car and great video. That car pulls, coming from a Neon SRT-4 owner
top car man sounds dope! need more out of car fly pasts ;)
nice...what state is this car in..? mine is it Tennessee
So what kind of gearing/ tire combo do you have that your STi will hit 60 in 2nd gear @7000rpm
I wouldn't say Honda lol, but I do agree with you, Subaru rumble is just beautiful.
if I got an sti would i have to put hella money in it to get something like this? cuz if so i'd rather go with the new mustang 5.0 or camaro ss
What kind of wastegate is there, manufacter's name??
Sorry for asking stupid question , but what does ''sleeved'' mean ? Nice subie btw!
To break it down, sleeves are just what they sound like. kcap85 Uh , kinda get it now. Thanks for the answer :)
wat camera are u using man, is it a gopro?
how much do you have into the motor? i want to build my sti to pull high numbers like this lol
Equal length= The sound of efficiency
Damn that is nice, got a little wheel hop on that launch huh.
That thing pulls like a 1000cc motorbike! Bet you've never lost a race on the road since its been at this power?
^^^Seriously?! If I was going to buy a brand new 2013 STI, how and who would you recommend build it to have around 500hp to the ground. Could I do this for $60K all said and done? TY
you should tune on e85 good for another 100+ just have the fuel system to support it..
very nice car..mine should be completed this fall...element built..and I assembled..and running e85 should be over the 700 mark with all i have done..but love the video
I love how it sounds. Track time?
We have a wait period right now but yes, absolutely. Message for more info! -AK
Nice subie... might have to hook up when i bring mine home this christmas...
Equal length headers ?
Yes
what spark plug did you use?? part number?
Car looks like a blast to drive! Needs flat foot shifting though
Damn nice build bro. My build is very similar to that except my guy tells me 750cc injectors are going to be more than enough since I will be tuning on pure meth, not 50/50. I am kind of nervous if we are going to max out cause of fuel injectors, but we'll see....I trust that he is right. too epic to be true ! =D
great work on the car !
keep scooby's quick !
i love this video so much I'm watching it in 2017 LOL
Gumball 3000 says sti's are unstable after 170mph. Have you hit that speed yet?
little monter , very gooooood
On the break-in tune (15psi and 7500rpm) it was running with low 11 second cars and bikes. After we tuned it no one wanted to race. LOL.
Love the sound!
what kinda headers you got on the car?
What transmission are you running on here?
It aint easy! Nice video man!
That is not correct. In AEM this feature is referred to as "Drag-Style Anti Lag". Were do you live, red ford, plymouth
its a big turbo!!! of course he needs to downshift to 6000
awesome car by the way
