  • Please help me move my videos up the charts by giving me a thumbs up! In this video I make an Arkansas Toothpick dagger with feather pattern damascus! I show most of the steps it would take to make a dagger like this. As always there is way to much work to condense down to a 10 minute video and go into detail of each step. I do plan on a build series coming soon, where I will go into detail about the intricacies of knife making! I hope you are enjoying my videos, If you have any suggestions please share them in the comment section. Thanks for watching!

    That's exactly the length of the knife that I thought they were, longer than a dagger, shorter than a bowie. Thanks for your post!

    Just got my Toothpick today and couldn't be happier! Can't stop looking at it. The attention of detail is ridiculous. I highly recommend having a knife made by him. Customer for life. Looking forward to many more to add to my collection.

  • @evaderknives
    @evaderknives 4 года назад +1

    Whew man, did you grind down that whole pattern? It seems like cutting it out with a bandsaw or disc grinder would of saved a lot of time, not to mention you'd have the cut off pieces for bolsters or something. Then again, some people like grinding, so I'm not telling you what to do, just kinda wondering. It came out real nice though, the handle & guard look sweet. Hope all is well, take it easy.

    • @Aleeknives
      @Aleeknives  4 года назад

      Hey Dave, I have tried the bandsaw, cut off wheel, plasma cutter and grinding. This was pretty thin stock and there really wasn't that much to take off. I probably spent less than 10 minutes at the grinder with the profile. I guess it really just depends on my mood. I followed your 48 hour dagger build also. Was that start to finish in 48 or 48 total hours? You rocked it man! Oh, one thing I didn't show in the video was I tried an additional coffee etch on this knife! I think it enhanced the pattern by a good 10 percent! Thanks for watching man!

    • @evaderknives
      @evaderknives 4 года назад +1

      @@Aleeknives That makes sense, I was just wondering. Thanks for watching that, yeah 48 hr start to finish. I swear, it took forever to edit all the footage down. Right on, yeah, it came out real nice.

    How do you get the feathered pattern it’s beautiful

    • @Aleeknives
      @Aleeknives  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Tom! It is a Damascus pattern created by the amalgamation of 2 different steels.

  • @vaporz109
    @vaporz109 3 года назад +1

    Is the tip reinforced? It’s a beautiful knife, but I wonder if the tip would bend easily when used for it’s intended purpose

    • @Aleeknives
      @Aleeknives  3 года назад

      The tip would snap right off! Terrible design if you ask me. I couldn't wait to get it out of the shop! Most of these end up with much different tip geometry soon after they are used😁

    • @vaporz109
      @vaporz109 3 года назад +1

      @@Aleeknives I quite like the design aesthetically; was that reply just brutal honesty.....or passive-aggressive sarcasm? I really couldn't tell lol, apologies for that.

    • @Aleeknives
      @Aleeknives  3 года назад

      Brutal honesty! I built this specific design for a guy and I didn't agree with the tip geometry at all. None the less I built it and learned from it! Cheers man

    • @vaporz109
      @vaporz109 3 года назад

      @@Aleeknives Thanks for the reply! Super interesting. Btw, there's this bizarre fiberglass-reinforced polymer knife out there by Cold Steel that has a heavily reinforced tip and I've always wondered if that tip design could be partially used for an Arkansas toothpick while maintaining a similar aesthetic. Just food for thought; cheers dude!
