Sentencing of any kind, even the relatively light burden of home confinement, will send a huge message to Trump, his followers, the world, and those of us who have waited so long for justice to come to him.
Judge Mershan will delay it, but only 2 days instead of being the 18th, it's going to be on the 20th. That way Trump's lawyers have 3 days to file an appeal to the decision that will be given on September 16th. Trump's lawyers claim that only having one day to file an appeal for the decision on the 16th isn't enough time. That's why they're asking for it to be delayed again.
A normal citizen is not allowed to appeal a decision for sentencing until after they are sentenced. That is the way the rule of law works so he should not be given an exception on that
