It's not just childbirth, its healthcare in general. I work for a hospital and every time I have had to go to our e.r. I felt like I was being treated as a pain pill seeker or my symptoms were down played because I wasnt curled up in the fetal position on the floor.

I'm happy to see this getting coverage! It's happened to me more than once, doctors, nurses and an EMT, not listening when I said I was in pain etc. I knew I wasn't crazy and I know I'm still not crazy!

It is even more worse in the Caribbean I think. I have medical issues and on two occasions I had to argue with doctor because of down playing pain. One doc actually dismiss me from the hospital after a surgery even though I was telling her I had pain. I went home and ended up back at hospital 14 hrs later. Saw her in the morning & she said she didnt take me seeious because she THOUGHT I didn't wanted to go home. They had to keep her from me the whole time
Trinidad is horrible like that with black women as well.

In the same way that delightful white woman was an Allie to black folks here...... Is the same way that UNITY can help change these problems. Once people start seeing all races as Humans and then the solidarity towards a common goal, folks naturally start to pay closer attention. The benefit of allies of several races would be the ability to deliver the same messages, but in ways that specific group may need an Allie to aid in the deliverance of messages in a comprehensive manner. (Unity is INDEED the key y'all. United States of America. Together we prosper.....Devided)

When I go to the hospital I tell them I have private insurance right away so they can treatment me better. They treat you worse if they think you have subsidized insurance...
