Yeah the game does the manga's art and personalities justice, but the weird and fun story is presented in cheapo text and audio clips. This is definitely more a game for people who are already fans - everyone else will be terribly confused by the creator's crazy imagination with no context. (It's all still crazy IN context, but at least you can follow it.)

In the US, nobody ever talks about it. I have literally never talked to someone irl who brought it up. Meanwhile, Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, One Piece, Death Note, etc all get brought up relatively often in conversation.
it is hard to find fans of the series. It's one of the most popular manga in JAPAN. In america really only part 3 has been brought to america. There has been no anime for this manga until just last year and the only other animations for it was the 1993 and 2003 OVAs which were only released on DVD. and one game which was only for the dreamcast, ps1 and the arcades. So it's not very well known here pre-internet.

It seems to also have had a lot of copyright and other legal problems because of the ridiculously blatant names like Robert E O Speedwagon, Dio Brando who even names himself Ronnie James Dio and Marlon Brando. I watched this as a fighting game fan, not an anime fan, but this video makes Giantbomb look like they don't know how to play video games.

I bought the japanese version of this game and am a p big jojo fan. I can say the fighting kinds sucks, but it's goofy fun if you like the source material. If you don't like Jojo you probably will not like this game.
Except Jeff is pretty good at fighting games, and he was driving this QL, and actually did pretty well. He got combos out consistently and didn't seem to have any problems controlling it, unless it was on the game's part. I really don't see where your complaints are coming from.

It actually fits with Diavolo wanting to be an Emperor more than King did And it just feels more powerful in terms of sound, like you're not just dealing with a mere King, but a freaking Emperor. Of course, opinions may vary
Unfortunately, the game doesn't look as good as the original arcade/dreamcast game, which was absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite fighters of all time besides Children of the Atom. I'm also a long time fan of the JJBA Manga series, I have all of them in french (only versions I could get back in the early 2000's.). I'm kinda let down the game doesn't look as fantastic as the original ones. Prolly gonna stick with those.
***** Valentine only becomes overpowered, when he has all 3 corpse parts. And getting them takes a while. For one they spawn completly randomly in the stage, so getting them will require quite a few axis rotations, which leave you vulnerable. Also it takes quite a while for them to actually spawn. And then you can't be knocked down, or else you'll lose the corpse part, which the enemy will then probably keep you away from. But when he has all 3 parts, he probably IS one of the best characters in the game. He's extremly fast and can combo into attacks, that he couldn't combo into before. Also projectiles become useless thanks to Love Train, making Mista, Narancia and... well, most projectile users, pretty useless.
But none of them look like Armstrong at all There is like 1% mustache for the entire Jojo's roster. I mean I guess you could say that because they're buff manly-men striking amazing poses but Jojo's was like that way before Armstrong. And the hair

Unfortunately, the game doesn't look as good as the original arcade/dreamcast game, which was absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite fighters of all time besides Children of the Atom. I'm also a long time fan of the JJBA Manga series, I have all of them in french (only versions I could get back in the early 2000's.). I'm kinda let down the game doesn't look as fantastic as the original ones. Prolly gonna stick with those.
***** Valentine only becomes overpowered, when he has all 3 corpse parts. And getting them takes a while. For one they spawn completly randomly in the stage, so getting them will require quite a few axis rotations, which leave you vulnerable. Also it takes quite a while for them to actually spawn. And then you can't be knocked down, or else you'll lose the corpse part, which the enemy will then probably keep you away from.
But when he has all 3 parts, he probably IS one of the best characters in the game. He's extremly fast and can combo into attacks, that he couldn't combo into before. Also projectiles become useless thanks to Love Train, making Mista, Narancia and... well, most projectile users, pretty useless.
