Ayesha built a drone for a racing competition that flies at a height of 20 meters. Last year’s winning drone had a speed of 40 km/h, but Ayesha’s drone lacked a speedometer or GPS to measure its speed. Her friend Vivek suggested using photos he had taken of the drone in flight. Noticing the timestamps, Ayesha measured the angles between her and the drone in two photos (30° and 60°) with a time gap of 1.53 seconds. Using trigonometry, she calculated the drone’s speed to be 54 km/h-well above 40 km/h. This year, victory seems certain!
