Tried all this many times and nothing works. Glad my primary phone is an Android b/c Apple is terrible! I just want to use this iphone that I received for free for non-phone purposes. I got what I paid for it.

What if it’s just an old iPhone and not a new one. I can’t update it and still connect to wifi. Anything should connect to wifi.
