  • "Marcha de las Malvinas" is an official song of Argentina composed in 1940 and dedicated to Argentina's claim of sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.
As established by the law 1154, enacted by the decree 1188/17, it is also the official anthem of the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands.
It is officially sung in school ceremonies and ceremonies to the fallen and veterans.
These acts take place on April 2, when the Day of the Veteran and the Fallen in the Falklands War is commemorated. On that day in 1982, the Falklands War started. Until 2001, it was celebrated on June 10 of each year, commemorating the appointment of Luis María Vernet as the first Argentine governor in the islands in 1829.
On July 9, 1939, during the presidency of Roberto Marcelino Ortiz, the Board for the Recovery of the Falklands was created with the purpose of contributing to the diffusion and knowledge of the subject among the population; among other activities, it organized a poetic-musical contest. On January 3, 1941 the winning composition was announced in a public act in the Salón Augusteo of Buenos Aires: "Marcha de las Malvinas" by José Tieri and Carlos Obligado.
