    Hi Jonathan
    Have you derived the equations assuming that the system is static (i.e) the spring and mass based forces are in equilibrium and no external forces are involved?

    I thought that the arrow x1 always indicated positive direction. But that doesn't seem to be the case at 1:25

    why the gravitation is zero?

      Since force due to static deflection of spring cancels out weight of the body..

      @@gani3a9 can you please elaborate it ? it's still quite tricky to to me - I think there still need to have the gravitational force for sufficiency of illustration
