Shrek 2 is a 2004 American animated fantasy comedy film based on the book Shrek! by William Steig and directed by Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury, and Conrad Vernon from a screenplay by Adamson, Joe Stillman, J. David Stem, and David N. Weiss; a sequel to Shrek (2001) and the second feature-length project in the Shrek franchise. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz reprise their roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona; the film also stars Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Rupert Everett, and Jennifer Saunders. The sequel picks up after the events of the first film, as newlyweds Shrek and Fiona travel with Donkey to meet Fiona's parents. The power-hungry Fairy Godmother seeks to destroy their marriage in order to place her son Prince Charming on the throne of the Far Far Away Kingdom; to prevent this, Shrek and Donkey team up with Puss in Boots.
The film's production began in 2001. Due to creative differences with the producers of the first film, screenwriters Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio did not work on the sequel; the story was written by Adamson, who drew inspiration from the film Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? (1967). The artists resorted to high-level animation to show not only the old characters more realistically, but also the new ones, in particular Puss in Boots. The salaries of the main actors increased to $ 10 million, which is why at that time they were among the highest paid stars. Like the first part, the sequel parodies other fairy tale films and contains references to American pop culture.[6][7][8] The cartoon is dedicated to the memory of Shrek creator William Steig, who died on October 3, 2003, eight months before the premiere.
Shrek 2 premiered on May 15, 2004, at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was one of the nominees for the Palme d'Or. The cartoon, distributed by DreamWorks Pictures, began its wide release on May 19. Like the first part, the sequel received positive reviews from critics and grossed $935.2 million worldwide. As of 2004, Shrek 2 had the highest three-day domestic box office gross and highest-grossing opening of any animated film,[9][10] making it the highest-grossing film of 2004.[11] To date, Shrek 2 remains the highest-grossing DreamWorks Animation film and the highest-grossing film released by DreamWorks Pictures; it remained the highest-grossing animated film of all time until it was surpassed by Toy Story 2 in 2010.[12] Shrek 2 received two Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song; its score reached the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart in 2004. In 2007, DreamWorks released the sequel Shrek the Third, and in 2010, the quadrology was completed with the film Shrek Forever After. Puss in Boots, who debuted in the cartoon, got his own spin-offs - the animated films Puss in Boots (2011) and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) and the animated series The Adventures of Puss in Boots (2015). "The Best Movie" is the first comedy film produced by the TNT TV channel and Comedy Club. The filming process ended on December 27, 2007. The film was released on January 24, 2008.
The film contains many parodic echoes of other films, mainly Russian ones. Plot
Vadik Volnov defecates "in the cinema hall", after which he goes to his own wedding and, at the suggestion of his friend "Polkilo", smokes a "joint". Vadik experiences clinical death, and he ends up in heaven with God's secretary (although Vadik takes him for the Lord God himself), and they discuss how Vadik lived.
