How I understand this subreddit is that the text is changed to take the visuals literally in some way. Like those videos where they change the lyrics of songs to describe what is happening in the music video.
Kinda but what the subreddit purpose is basically making meme that a child would make, with childish stuff, way different set up and punchline that's deviated from the original template.
I think of this subreddit as memes that are created by aliens who saw the Earth memes
Often also including obscure references/jokes of a completely unrelated category to what the meme is about/jokes that play off other jokes made in the sub (someone forgot to turn it off), such as that to the Danger! High Voltage music video or the Arch Linux meme at the end, or the many many literal juice-that-makes-your-bones-hurt jokes cracked (🥁) throughout the sub
close, but this subreddit is meant for using memes and meme templates in entirely the wrong way. it has kinda lost its focus to include antimemes and other close stuff but that's the original purpose as stated in the old description of the sub
nah, they just change comic texts to be way dumber, its not always literal
I love how Robin went through being confused about the "off" meme, then understanding it, then laughing at it and finally being annoyed by it in just one video

BoneHurtingJuice is mainly about creativity. It's not anti-humour or being literal with the pictures, it's just taking a meme and doing something unexpected (if perhaps in hindsight obvious) with it.
if you can’t think of anything, make an object being consumed the “bone hurting [thing]” and make the person who consumes it say “ow oof my bones”
In other words, deliberately misusing templates

@@dwarian5252 bone hurting juice is a subreddit where you take meme formats or comics and change the words to make them mean something else. The eh? Ha! heh heh. comes from a "phones are bad" type of boomer comics where the flight attendant tells the guy to turn off his iPad, he says sorry because he forgot, and the older man with the book says: "I guess I don't have to turn mine 'off', eh? Ha! Heh heh.". The meme became iconic in the subreddit and a lot of memes based on this one came to be.

I _believe_ r/bonehurtingjuice is about meme formats where the text is replaced with something else that has nothing to do with the meme format used, but may still be based on what's going on in the image (based on the original "bone hurting juice" image), but I don't really know either

Bond hurting juice is based on a comic strip where a guy drinks a juice box then in the next panel looks like they’re in pain. I can’t remember the original text but someone replaced the text on the juice box with “bone hurting juice“ making the panel after that comediclly literal.
This subreddit is based off the logic of that edited comic strip. Taking a silly looking comic and making the dialogue as literal as possible

8:45, reminds me of my school and how they recently were demoted from a very high health and safety rating to something very low due to how they were storing the food. The menu has been slightly changed most days. Sometime it's something minor but other times, the entire meal has changed and the only explanation we could come up with was the demotion.

For those out of the loop, bone hurting juice is meant to be extremely bad or ironic usage of a meme template or just a meme thats so badly made that it’s funny. The people running the subreddit said the posts should be like if a 10 year old just found a meme template for the first time and used it without even knowing what it really meant.

For the Jojo battle, it's referencing the part 3 fight (Jotaro vs Dio) In which they use their stands, star platinum and Za warudo (The world in Japanese) Za warudo has the ability to stop time for 9 seconds while star platinum has vast speed and power. The point of this sub is to reinterpret the comic. For example, I made one a while ago with the note passing meme template that says "here's that paper you wanted"

lets say we have a comic where they are talking about something outrageous and one of the characters spits their drink.

a: "yeah we are doomed"
the bonehurting juice versions could be:
a: "hey have you seen my bathwater? i put it in a cup"
b: spits drink
a: "you drank it?!?"

its not supposed to be completelly nonsensical comics,
they have to have a different meaning and punchline by using what you have and only what you have,
the point is not to add or change the original, it is to create a new joke based on what is being depicted,
in a way that is obvious to the viewer and does not require extra knowledge to be funny.
the joke can be a nonsensical funny, but not nonsense related to the panels,
you cant just say "aliens" and not have it to be part of the punchline or relate to the panel.
The point of r/bonehurtingjuice is to completely alter the context of the comic by ONLY editing the text. It's related to r/speedoflobsters, which works by exclusively OMITTING text, and r/antimemes, where the text is edited to ONLY describe the context as visually presented (in the nature of an antijoke). Honorable mention to r/sbubby and whatever happened to EXPAND DONG.
r/bonehurtingjuice is a weirder place than the other two because people keep posting things that aren't actually bonehurtingjuices and/or it's very prone to circlejerks because you can make the text whatever you want as long as you don't edit the image
