As a guy who both loves the Beatles and is awful at singing I really commend you on the opening to this, You did a wonderful job. I know this was beyond what you where comfortable with, but you still managed to portray all the emotion you where triyng to, and honestly I just cant help but smile.
Yeah I've only seen the first half of review of Caligula. And I just found out he wasn't joking about the Caligula comic. Doesn't Brad realize how many black boxes Linkara would have to put in? 2/3 of the review would be a black screen.
Characters inexplicably having their names emblazoned on the clothes they're wearing and characters sharing their names with songs...are we SURE that this wasn't some lost story of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure?
This truly is a surprise for the 400th episode. And yes, the movie had a $13 million budget but only made $20.4. It had negative scathing reviews to the point that even the actual Beatles shun the film. No joke. No wonder Marvel decided not to release it in the US. It would have hurt Marvel even more.
21:50 - Since they hate love, and love money, doesn't that mean that they then hate money, and possibly encounter a logical paradox? Am I the only one wondering this?
People were shorter in the past, so Linkara almost certainly IS bigger than Jesus. Possibly even tall enough to rest his elbow on Jesus's head. (Do not rest your elbow on Jesus's head.)
Oh no... XD The Cinema Snob episode of this movie is one of my favorites, in part because the musical is just so bonkers INSANE. It's a musical that is absolutely prime for riffing in just about every sequence. The ending is also all sorts of amazing (for the wrong reasons, obviously), but we'll be getting to that in the second part...
Haven't rewatched these episodes in a while, just wanted to comment that the translator did a great job with the lettering on the pages. I've seen so much amateurish translations on scans before, but this looks near professional.
7:00 Then again, these were a group of people that would later decide "Let's make Norman Osborn the head of SHIELD for a while.". 10:24 No, but you're getting there, good sir. =) 13:04 And now, I want fan art of Monokuma dressed up as Sgt. Pepper! 15:20 A depressing reality, given our current political situation...
Well, I was not expecting this for your 400th review. Or the lack of an extended opening song. Still, glad to see something as obscure as this get a review, let alone as good as this was.
Lack of extended theme song is down to time. I was working on one, but it was a HUGE timesink, especially when this was already taking too long and came out late.
I love these anniversary reviews because of all the effort put into them. They're standouts because they're ambitious and have the most polished writing and editing
The livestream last night inspired me to watch this one. It's just so much fun. The musical numbers, the clips from MST and SNL's relevant bits- just a great episode
13:46 "Well some of them are dancing wildly. Others are apparently doing the can can." And snapping one of thier legs off like a Barbie doll. Jesus Christ, that woman's leg is completely straight and over her head.
3:36 actually i recently read a comic with a song. It was a prelude to Young Justice Season 3: Outsiders. It was probably one of the few times a song in comics was done well. and i wish soemone made a cover of that song
Congrats Lewis I've been watching you since 275. That may not be very long but you've quickly become my favourite reviewer on the site and made me appreciate comics more than I did already. Here's to #500. Which I hope is somthing massive, the biggest review you ever did, even bigger than one more day, countdown, and holy terror, like final crisis.
Y'know, it wasn't until I saw Steven Universe that I finally understood the whole "kicking Lapis and Peridot out of the barn" thing, but now that I do, I think I have the right to say "Nyeh-hahahahahaha! I get the joke now!"
"And one song, 'Come Together' is, but John Lennon's own words, 'Gobbledygook'. And fans took 'Gobbledygook' to mean that each verse was in fact John's own feelings and representation of each member of the Beatles.
Well, 400 episodes down, some 200 more to go I think? Decided to watch all of your show after watching a bit of your Dead Space playthrough were you or somebody mentioned that binge watching all of it would take forever xD And yeah, started it in January, with some breaks. Gotta say, your show is awesome, can't wait to catch up^^
11:29- (Clears throat) It was still a box office success, and there are people, like me, who love the movie (mostly the Ultimate Edition). 21:47- The "Everything Great About..." video on BvS gave a good explanation on why the Martha scene was important.
I can't believe that it took me until AFTER my first year of college to figure out that "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was actually about "LSD." In hindsight, it should've been more apparent. Yeah...brought back a lot of bad memories here.
It really isn't, the band was quite forthcoming about their drug references, and all of them are adamant that the song is just about a drawing John's son drew that he called Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and that any drug references were not intentional
Linkara has a wonderful singing voice. Also I wish I'd gotten into his reviews sooner- I really enjoy them. It's taking a while to finally be fully caught up, but I'm getting there, bit by bit.
You know that thing about the comic possibly being published in Japan might hold weight to it given that Yugioh ZEXAL had a location named Heartland and a villain named Mr. Heart who looked like he was ready to break out into song whenever he was on screen
"Lucy with her diamonds." Heh...not only that, they're in those giant pyramid tower things, making them 'in the sky' as well. The only thing missing is William Shatner singing about them.
TOTTALLY didn't see this one coming, when I saw the episode art work I though: The Beatles? odd choice for this milestone, then I saw the full tittle and though: Marvel Super Special uh? Now THERE is the strange tales you love to share =)
From what I understand, and I’m just going by the Literary Lair’s review of it, but the novelizations (yes, this film got a novelization), explained quite a bit and answered a lot of questions, including that during WWII, the original Lonely Hearts Club Band performed on the Pacific Theater, not the European one.
This episode is and always be special to me. Because it was originally released in june. This episode was released right on the day I packed up to move to a better house.
I would force him to read ASBAR while BvS is playing in the background...he would be crying in a corner while promising he would never sang another note for the rest of his life
Around 19:56 - 19:59 Linkara: "Can't sleep! Bee Gees will eat me!" Me: "Don't worry Linkara, the Bee Gees won't get you." (Also, I know that's a references from the Simpsons.) And also around 21:21- 21:25 Nice references to last week's episode of Steven Universe. I have to say it was a pretty great show. X3 And lastly at 21:30 - 21:33 "What his girlfriend's name? Miss Ketchup?" XD.... Least I tried. X3
I've been following AT4W since the premiere of the Superman meets the Quickbunny review. But I've completely forgotten where the Bee-Gees gag came from.
Back when Linkara reviewed the first ASBAR comic, a Frank Millar fanboy went on a long rant about it. Part of it involved insulting Linkara with the remark that he would never be as popular as the Bee-Gees. So Linkara turned it into a joke for self-depreciative humor.
This is SO confusing. I keep thinking we're talking about the Yellow Submarine movie and getting lost on names. Heartland? It's supposed to be Pepperland, isn't it?
Small correction; "Nudist Colony" is an outdated term. It's not a specific colony of people in their own society, they are clubs or resorts. Places of business which people can live in, but usually just visit.

It's funny that he made a Steven inverse reference cause in my daydreams, Linkara and the Crystal Gems are members of the the Team Segata Grand Fleet, which is led by Segata Sanshiro. The Angry Video Game Nerd is a member too
I would ask if there is something wrong with you but that sounds awesome just imagine the omnicron 1 with the Crystal gems on it taking on homeworld that would be amazing
1st, congratulations on your 400th episode. 2nd, like your singing segments. 3rd, you probably know this by now, but in case you don't know. There is a new Power Rangers movie coming soon, I even saw what the new rangers will look like. I know some fans won't like the new outfits (at least their not wearing glitter). According to IMDB, Rita's new look is based on Scorpina.
Is it strange to hope for the muppets and big bird crew to slowly sing along with linkara at the beginning? Now i want to see 'what the hell did i just review' remixed lol
*Thoughts thus far:* This could've been done nowadays in an e-book form, sorta like homestuck or something Have the music play with the page in the e-book. Going to watch part 2 now ;)
A deadly Bee Gees weapon.
My God.
C. Cooper *BeeGees, my God.
The weapon in fact, is a disco death-ray.
"We're bigger than Cheez-Its" is an absolutely brilliant line and you should be very proud.
"Does that mean they're uniting the world in sorrow?"
Oh my god, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the TRUE Ultimate Despair!
Ultra Instinct Goku Black Sgt. Pepper was the Anti-Life Equation all along
I tried to Track this Movie down on DVD, Blu-Ray of it's UK release, Even iTunes.... But I couldn't find anything!!!

Hey I'm watching this from Spain so you do have SOME popularity
C 5 he does have more followers on Twitter
@@gargoyles9999 He may have more followers on Twitter than the Bee Gees, but he will still never be as popular as the Bee Gees.
I loved Brad's callback to him thinking that you're reviewing Caligula.
That review needs to happen.
Wait, there's a Caligula comic?
Does it come in a brown paper bag?
Yeah I've only seen the first half of review of Caligula. And I just found out he wasn't joking about the Caligula comic. Doesn't Brad realize how many black boxes Linkara would have to put in? 2/3 of the review would be a black screen.
chwen hoou no but it comes with a "the room" comic
It is published by Avatar Press, so it might as well be the official comic adaptation (even if it isn't).

Wait, a 13 million dollar budget and it made... $20.4...million? Or 20.4K? I'm confused.
***** Yeah. It made $20.4 million. It made its money back but it was a flop due to massive negative reception. Even the Beatles shun the film.

ahh alright I understand now. Thanks for clarifying~.
***** You're welcome.
No, I don't think it made its money back. It would've had to gross at least twice its budget.
21:50 - Since they hate love, and love money, doesn't that mean that they then hate money, and possibly encounter a logical paradox? Am I the only one wondering this?
LordNifty dont question it
They also hate smartasses.
That sign makes me think the set designer has no idea what words mean.
They don't hate money, they hate that they love money.
Eh, I see it as a “catchier” way of saying that you should put greed over empathy.
Celebrating finally being as popular as the Bee Gees, I see?
OH MY GOD I DIDNT GET IT UNTIL NOW
But... The Bee Gees are bigger than Jesus!
I don't get it?
People were shorter in the past, so Linkara almost certainly IS bigger than Jesus. Possibly even tall enough to rest his elbow on Jesus's head.

"They had to kick Lapis and Peridot out", Nice Steven Universe reference there.
This episode is 8 years old, and "Sgt. Pepper and his Lonely Heart's Clone Saga" still knocks me out every time i hear it
Has Sgt. Pepper reported in to Colonel Salt yet?
No, he is under Colonel Mustard's command.
