  • Melvin the Magical Mixed Media Machine (or just Melvin the Machine) can be described as a Rube Goldberg machine with a twist. Besides doing what Rube Goldberg's do best - performing a simple task as inefficiently as possible, often in the form of a chain reaction - Melvin has an identity. Actually, the only purpose of this machine is promoting its own identity.
    Melvin takes pictures and makes video's of his audience which he instantly uploads to his website, facebook and twitter account. Besides that he makes his own merchandise. All of this within 4 minutes of craziness which you just have to witness yourself.

    i wonder.....if theres a way to make rude goldberg machine that can reset all its elements as it goes along so that it can just keep going and going.....would it be classed as the ever elusive and so far impossible (though not improbable) 'perpetual motion engine'??

    • @purpisdus3118
      @purpisdus3118 8 лет назад +1

      You can make a special type of floor and make a big loop of dominos, and if a domino falls, the floor lifts and lowers to reset it. There would have to be one for TONS of dominos, cause this would be slow,so yeah it's possible it would work like this. When it falls,the floor lowers and the floor it fell on lifted. Then it would be upright.

    • @purpisdus3118
      @purpisdus3118 8 лет назад

      And the floor would not make power it would use it. With solar panels to make it infinite.

    Love the Rube Goldberg machines, but the camera work on this video is mediocre for the quality of equipment you used. The camera men (consider more than one?) need to show more of the action happening, and you should consider several fixed angle cameras to capture the fast-happening sequences. Then go back and edit the video together.

    Very cool machine, but very poor camera. Why is it so blurred most of the time, and did the camera team have no plan on whats going to happen? So much work for such a bad video. I would sack those camera-people for shure (if hired anyways...)...!

    I'm sure it's neat, but the video did a very poor job of explaining how the machine works. I think it's also partly the design of the machine, but the filming didn't help. The video makes it look like just a bunch of sequential events, with no apparent connection. How did X trigger Y? This isn't explained at most steps, taking away a lot of what makes a Rube Goldberg machine clever and fun to watch.
