My cousin has a 730d and I love seeing it plow and disk. The first time I saw it working, he (an engineer) was disking his large garden with it. I walked out towards him waving my hand in a circle trying to get him to give it some throttle! He saw me, and just shook his head and kept on getting it! That 830triple seems like it was at a high rpm.
Dad took delivery of a Deere R diesel just before Christmas 1963 and it's matching 4 btm plow. I discovered it on a Saturday morning about 8 AM. We spent the morning trying to start it cold. I had to run for two tanks of gas for the gutless 2 cyl Pony, and never got a pip out of the diesel, just smoke. Dad proudly informed me it was " Your tractor for this spring". Dad did get it started and ran it 20 miles to his favorite Deere dealer for a tune-up so it did start better, but we pulled an IH #8 3-14 plow most of the spring, we pulled the matching 4-14 Deere plow 1 or 2 days plowing 40 acres of alfalfa sod, 2nd gear was best the R could do, and I got lectured about lugging it on one short clay hill, had to stop and shift to 1st gear! Dad was ahead of me on the Super M-TA rounding off corners, we were plowing around in circles, no headlands, just keep the right frt tire in the furrow and drive, I had just had my 10th birthday a day or two before, that pop-pop-pop out the stock muffler was causing my ears to ring for hours and hours after we stopped plowing. I had spent a lot of time on the SM-TA the summer before, plowing, cultivating, mowing hay, and never had ringing ears. The neighbor's 730 diesel I could hear like it was sitting in our barnyard from a quarter mile away. I guess we weren't as smart back then about what that terrible noise was doing with our hearing. I drove semi for 3-4 years, a Detroit Diesel causes the same ringing ears. A 903 or 350 Cummins never caused me any problems. I was never given a set of ear muffs to lessen loud noises until I worked on large metal cutting shears at IH's East Moline Plant, also ran punch presses that were really loud. Worked 2nd shift, 3 PM to Midnight, drove the 20 minutes home and crawled in bed and no ringing ears. I suspect there's a way to synchronize the three 2 cyl engines to quiet them down, and also if they get out of synch they could blurr your vision. I will say I'd like to watch that BIG ROME with the V8 CAT stretch it's legs.
Great memories Dr. EVIL! We almost bought an R, but ended up with a 3010 gas instead, much to my disappointment! I was a teenager before I was exposed to the miracle known as ear plugs. Thanks to our 720 diesel, my hearing was taking a beating. I was mowing hay when I first tried them, I was amazed at the difference the plugs made. They not only took the sound of the engine down considerably, but I was still able to hear the knives when a guard would get misaligned... Dang Woodchucks! Early adult years I worked in the family gravel business and was exposed to multiple Detroit Diesel stationary engines and equipment, but thanks to those old yellow foam earplugs, I still have decent hearing in my late 50's. As for synching those 830's, I don't think there's a way without having the crankshafts directly connected. That's where that Sound Guard Cab really shines. Working inside the cab of our 4240 is quieter than being at my desk with the office ladies cackling!
That explains where it went! I saw that in Minnesota on the interstate headed south. Was wondering where it was going to. KW pulling it has some nice jakes too!
I wish I could afford to travel to your show. The planning and effort Grandpa has undertaken is amazing. He is dedicate/devoted to the industry and there is no one that can hold a candle to his leadership in the past present and future.
Were the lights not working on the 830 Special? I live only 8 miles from Don Dufner here in North Dakota and got to see this tractor just days after it was finished many years ago, quite an engineer he is!
its too bad those transport trailers don't have a way to plug in the hydrolikx on the last 50 miles to get the fluilds flowing and warmed up so the tractors fluids are REASDY TO MOVE on first startup, seemed like it could help longetivity in my head... would it be a good thing?
If for some reason I wasn’t dirt poor and I started a new tractor/heavy equipment company I would call it Canis Lupus, short for Dog . What color would the machinery be gray?
I don't see how it would cost 2 mill for trip 830s even with full restoration. You can buy them separately for like 20-25k with almost perfect restorations. Custom cab job and link systems still wouldn't cost 2 mill. Seems excessive. Maby 300-500k at most. Even then I think that's a bit on the high end.
Excellent show this year!!!! Thank You for all your hard work putting it on!!!
I could watch and listen to the 830s all day long .a great set up
DuffyAG sent us to your channel. What a production you have. Great stuff to see.
What an amazing show hope to attend someday! God bless your grandpa! Love the way he thinks and how you guys keep it going! Amazing.
The time and effort that people have put into these units is absolutely incredible.
Luv seeing everyone of them.❤️❤️🙄

Thanks for putting on such a great show! I’ve completely enjoyed plowing and pulling gravity wagons full of corn.
Looking good. See you this weekend. Hope everyone stays safe and has an amazing weekend.
Wow. That JD 830 triple is an awsome machine.
Really neat to see these giants at work. Can't wait to see more.
And a 3 wheeler! and a sawmill! I'm an old John Deere man, that triple 830 is sweet!
Thanks for sharing, awesome videos we live 6 hours away and won't be able to attend due to dairy farm chores thanks again
12 bottom plows, they make the rockin world go round..... (or something like that)
Awesome video!! Thanks !!

Would love to make it. Looks like an great show. Thanks for the videos.
That was amazing. Thanks for sharing this. Absolutely amazing!
Thank you so much for all of us that can't attend the show.
Those 830's are something!!!

Beats any farm progress show ever!
Super sweet
11:48 By the look at the exhaust, it seems like the middle engine is doing most of the work.
Love that Versitile awesome tractor
I had planned on driving up from Alabama to the show I'm pretty sure but couldn't get off work
good stuff!
Will be down Friday morning with a couple rare and neat small tractors.
This was awesome all I saw was night time
"Put it in neutral!" I half expected them to say "Which one?" ALL OF THEM!
The first 6-cylinder Deere farm tractor...
Liked. On the 830. curious why all or at least most of the smoke is coming out one exhaust pipe? It has 3.
Yeah I wondered the same. Make me think only one was running but I know that there's no way 1 830 would pull a 12 bottom

Hello everyone good video
Here because of “farming with Duffy Ag “
Me too. New subscriber. Great video
I got sick and said hell with it and went back to the hotel. I did manage to catch the tractor briefly though
That triple wasn't even straining! Pulling well at idle.

That ground sure is powdery.
wish i ciuld make it, been swamped at work lol
Spectacular "John Deere" 830 👍👍💪💪👏👏🚜🚜💚💛💚💛🇺🇲🇺🇲
bad ass
That is awesome do you have this every year and where are you located
had never of the Caterpillar articulated before seeing it here!
It’s a Rome. Caterpillar powered.
No lights on the 830'S?
What's the history on the 830 special?
Don Duffner should contact a scale model company like first gear and see if they would make scale models of his tractor. I would buy one.
Why are you plowing in the dark and at beginning show that saw mill I wanted to see the plowing
Why at night? Did I miss something?
They couldn't plow during daylight hours so that we could actually see it?
That’s a 3 tractor in one
I'm just gonna assume that ya'll have a standing agreement that he'll sell the triple to the museum when the time comes??
Pardon my french but that thing is FUCKING insanely cool. Coming from a JI Case fan.
Wow Don's been around a long time. I've seen his pictures in book a way back.
daylight would have been nice!
A shame you only had night shots
would of been better if you filmed in the daylight and not night .
Ah man i wish i was there. I could have got some amazing footage with my drone as well
if it not a cat....its a dog
If for some reason I wasn’t dirt poor and I started a new tractor/heavy equipment company I would call it Canis Lupus, short for Dog . What color would the machinery be gray?
I always get a kick out of a John Deere pulling a plow, they always want to pull it at speed, and never sink the plow in the ground.
Makes no sense
Si(c)k deer
for non-AG people what is the point. I see $$2.0 million for no reason.
