- Angry protests aren't something you'd associate with the pretty North Yorkshire village of Linton-on-Ouse - until now.
Residents are frustrated and furious with the Home Office's announcement that the former RAF base there will soon become an asylum reception centre for up to 1,500 people.

I’m sure there are plenty of villages in Rwanda they can enrich.
I'm proud to be Lebanese. We are the only country in the Middleeast that are not migrants. Our people in modern times get a university offer or a job offer before leaving. We never cause any trouble. We blend in the culture without trying to change it. If we feel homesick and don't think the culture suits us, we go back home. Lebanon is built different. Diversity is not bad. It just needs to be done right. Get the right people in REALISTIC numbers instead of random refugees WITHOUT A THRESHOLD for the sake of "democracy". As a Lebanese the only advice that I can give to the UK is to wake up. We've done the same mistakes with refugees in the 50s and 60s. Look at my country now. We are f*cked. Wake up. While being processed they need to be kept in under armed forces gaurd. No escapes. Kept behind the perimeter fence. With dog patrols. When an individual is processed then see where they go. If failed to stay in u.k. if that's an air base .fly them straight away to Rwanda in military planes with escort soldiers. Job done.

Why were these migrants blocked from moving into this lovely area? it would be very beneficial for their mental health living in a lovely leafy village like this. It's not fair for other places in the country where these migrants all eventually end up being sent to, everybody must take their fair share of these tens of thousands of young, unvetted, unknown men, but some people always get a pass and the poorer areas where the facilities are already stretched to the limit always end up having thousands of these people dumped in their neighbourhoods, its one rule for them and another for the rest, hypocrisy is an ugly thing.

Globally we are all fed up with immigrants..We are overpopulated and inflation keeps rising, and more new immigrants imported. Not good. Population control is necessary with humans, just like with animals. Too many animals in location changes the eco system drastically. Too many different humans in one place is disastrous also.
Pair different humans in one place, in other humans habitats, is like paring all species of felines into one area. It is unnatural and devastating to the felines and the creatures they feed on.
It's like pairing domesticated cats with Bobcats, Mountain lions, lions, Siberian tiger, indian jungle tigers, panthers, lynx cat, cheetah, all just imported into one land, out of their natural habitat. It would be an environmental disaster for the wild cats and the creatures them hunted....food shortages, cat on cat fights and deaths. Similar to what we humans are doing now, due to foreign humans being imported into our eco system.

This is actually an excellent idea, having worked on these barracks there are large houses, accomodation blocks , really all the facilities they need, and it will be good for the community bringing more needed jobs to the area, having free movement of people which alot of anti Brexit voters wanted, and they have come from europe

I don't think it's about anti immigration , it's more about illegal migrants flooding the country when the natives are struggling with rising inflation and finding somewhere to live . The home office has sent out a 3 page letter to all residents of Linton-On -Ouse who attended the meeting at the village hall.
It is a very fair as the needs of the asylum seekers are been met with religious needs and a gymnasium. Also there will be added Police patrols and CCTV fitted.
This is far and beyond what a city of new asylum seekers would receive. So the home office have been fair and the villagers should just suck it and see what happens.
There is nothing fair about it. They shouldn’t be allowed in at all.
