Hi
Your videos is the best
Please freeze dry glue
*I would quite literally be walking on eggshells if there was a house made of this stuff*
The heat having been applied they have been altered chemically and are no longer eggshells
I, too, walk on my walls and ceiling.
@micheala
You have a dirt floor?
Timothy Neiswander You don’t?
Ah no no, mine is made of oobleck. I have been considering redecorating and using Spanish Tiles....or perhaps lava.
Calli sounds like she is sick/ill
Get well soon Calli

I don’t think so
Are we the only ones that came on the comments because of this🧐
Simon Pickett no
i though she sounded weird
I used to do this as a kid in order to build play houses, we would use the pure egg shell as mortar and mix it with ashes, fine broken rocks and soap for the bricks, it worked great! And whenever we accidentally broke a “brick” we used it as chalk to write on the walls.
🤔…Is there a video for this?
I hope you feel well soon Cali! You sound kind of ill, we appreciate you still making us a video with Nate!
I thought u were talking about covid then I saw 10 months ago
Any wayI thought covid-19 was here so we have to where masks??
Oh, how much I wish I knew about COVID 11 months ago. This comment hits different now...
So that’s where the eggs came from for the last show
Nick fenix that what I was saying
I was looking if someone else said that in the comment
I know right??
“Save those (eggs) for another project”
🤣🤣🤣
Try to make soap using stuff you find naturally just like you did for bread
yucca , wattle ( acacia species ) contain saponins ( natural soap ) just crush leaf and wet.
I wonder where soap nuts grow in the wild?
You can make soap from a pig. That will be more naturally.
Maybe they should make a medieval wood ash soap.

Freeze dry Cucumbers and soak them In pickle juice to make instant pickles 🤔
Hope you feel better soon Calli, assuming you're sick or have a cough
Oh it did work. Great. I would recommend volcanic ash. That is one of the fundamental elements in concrete, or something that can fulfill that role. It would definitely work perfectly with that addition.
concrete in construction has a 28 day cure time before its used to take any load, I would imagine this is similar to that so if you try this again perhaps give it the time to fully cure
There’s a thin layer of membrane (read: protein) on the inner part of the shell. Usually when I burn them outdoors, I fan the dried membranes out, leaving only the shells in the pot.
It’s possible that the protein decomposed into pure carbon and then sintered into those small “nuggets”. That’s my guess anyway...

Independent variable: The type of brick
Dependent variable: If it is fit for building or not
Controlled variable: The egg shells
the independent and controlled variable are supposed to be the same thing

For cleaner results, try finding a large ceramic crucible instead of the graphite one. When I was casting jewelry, I first began using a graphite crucible. It left a lot of imperfections in the jewelry and the graphite crucible would deteriorate rapidly. Then I came across a large ceramic one, that improved my results and the crucible lasted much longer.

Thank you so much for making my idea a reality. Love you TKOR team
there would be some carbon in their from the membrane inside the egg shell
Seems like that should have burnt away, but maybe not?
Cleaned and dry egg shell may have worked better, heated for a shorter time. (sea shells are thicker) Drying and fluffing the slaked lime before mixing could help. What do you think?
Probably true about the egg residue, and a clean kiln. 🤣🤣 They were missing 1 important ingredient, which was volcanic ash. There is some chemical in there, that makes it harden, when combined with the quick lime.
Hope y’all had a great thanksgiving and enjoy Black Friday shopping
All nonsense holidays
Just an idea, from all the food you get left from your videos- you could make like a meal or something for homeless people and give it to them. For example from this video you could have made omelets 🐸

I refuse to watch videos without Cali. I love you
Have you considered the chance that the residual yolk on the eggshells is the mystery contaminate?
Centuries ago they were building houses, bridges with something called "khorasan mortar". Lime, straws or goat hair ( for strength) , old broken pottery and EGG WHİTE. Restoration experts saying it is pretty nasty smell. I would like to see you guys try that.
This is the earliest I've been
In the 2002 movie clockstoppers they used paintballs filled with liquid nitrogen to slow the people with the time watches, I know the watches is pure sci-fi but I'm curious if you can actually remove the paint from paintballs like they did and then fill them with liquid nitrogen if they would actually hold the nitrogen without leaking out, if you could actually fire them, if they would be able to cool things down, and if you could store them for any period of time like they did in the movie.
u need to check this: Votive statue of the Holy Trinity, Pozega, Croatia. it's in my hometown. it's made from eggshells :)
That's so cool
Maybe You Guys can make chalk for a video, it should be really fun. 😘😍😘😍😘😍
I just love how Cally plays with eggs while Nate is explaining😂
I know right she's so cute c:
You need a hardening substance for it to become mortar because we use lime and sand in our masonry class as trainer mortar. It does get hard but also it breaks fairly easily and scrapes off bricks so we can keep reusing it.
The substance they need is volcanic ash. Then it would be cement/ concrete. Concrete usually has small stones added. But it's the volcanic ash that is the missing ingredient. Otherwise it is just mortar, which is what they made, and isn't very strong. I only know this because I've been watching other videos of the technique all day, which is how I found this one. lol
12:07 someone just said yeah
y'all should make bugles go from finger hats to regular hats

You're on video, Callie. We all saw you try it :P
She didn't try
If you drill holes in it then it will dry better. Most bricks usually have holes in them on one side.
Can you un-cook rice using the Freeze Dryer?
Sounds like instant rice.
People from over 1000 years ago used shells and eggs to make this into a building material so it's neat to see people sort of rediscover it

You should try using hardwood ash. Soak the ash in water to separate the charcoal and dissolve the potassium carbonate. The stuff that settles to the bottom should be calcium carbonate.
Technically calcium is a metal - so you may have turned the calcium-carbonate into pure carbon and metal.
The high temp (840C / 1544F) makes carbon dioxide gas and calcium oxide solids, the white stuff. Other processes (electrolysis) are required to get pure calcium, which is not found in nature, because it quickly reabsorbs oxygen. All the other stuff was leftovers from previous burns.
Callie is so pretty , she looks like a model in the thumb nails . ☺️

Mortar is most commonly used to adhere two pieces of stone together. You guys should try this again with a clean or new crucible and see how well it adheres two bricks together. It would be interesting to see if it holds up better if used this way. You could even compare it with store bought mortar.
"68 shell"
We were this close
I do believe I just saw another video about concrete and mortar, that said mortar only hardens when exposed to air. That's probably why your brick was still liquid inside.
I was under the impression that you have to fire bricks
Clay bricks are fired in a kiln.
Mud bricks are sun dried
Calcium silicate bricks are steam dried in an autoclave.
Firing this material in a kiln actually resets it to brittle calcium oxide again. This is how plaster of Paris can be recycled.
sitting to cure takes basically 2-3 days BUT low and slow to semi medium heat will take the moisture out better and cause hardening better......my g-pa use to be a brick layer and he made my first brick play house 20 yrs ago and i still have one of his homemade bricks from it when i moved....he taught me that trick
No one:
Nate and Callie: Lets make a house from egg shells!
I like this better than the seashell one, as eggshells are much more common than seashells (especially if you have chickens).

Ok.
Ok..
Ok.
Try compression strength in lieu of snapping them as grout and mortar will always snap like that as it is not intended to be strong in the direction but more or less for filling voids and having high compressive strength.
You guys should dip a plasma globe into liquid nitrogen
Oh cool! You made Tabby! I'm happy.
