American Football will be the best American Football album since the American Football album American Football and the American Football album American Football.
I just spit out my coffee laughing at this
Glad I can make you waste coffee lol
I can't believe you've forgotten the amazing EP, American Football, that came before the American Football album, American Football.
Americ Anfootball*
Profound words
"Silhouettes" debuted at #8 on the New Alternative 40 Chart this week!
The One With The Post Rock Influences
@@loooooomer it's a reference to "the one with the Wurlitzer", an old song from one of their old groups I believe
The One With The Steve Reich Intro
@@dumb445 It was “The one with the tambourine” from Americ anFootball's EP
@@sonikujeff4108 It's both. 'The One With the Tambourine' is from the EP, 'The One With the Wurlitzer' is from the first LP.
LMAOOO
nice mixture of post rock and shoegaze elements mixed in with that twinkly midwest sound they pretty much pioneered. this is some of the neccesary evolution that emo currently needs
Put perfectly
pablo binch calvo Another good news, Rachel Goswell from Slowdive will be featured on another track of this album.

Hurt me like it’s 1999
This is RUclips Gold comment worthy, thank you
Is this an Aloha song???
I can't tell if that's a fact or a request.

1:24 that hit me right in the feels
No question about it - I am ready to get hurt again.
This song is an experience with a pair of good headphones
What headphones do you use/recommend?

Something darker and laid back. Like some Sennheiser HD600 or equivalent.
I was gonna say AirPods but yeah
Sony mdr 7506 :)
They finally went outside!
no wonder they didn't, look at that fog
@@daveisaframe it's the fog of a window :O
well i guess its time to cry again

Just introduced my mom's boyfriend to this band. This is the first song he heard and now he's gonna show it to the rest of his bandmates. Loved this band since I was 12 and I will always love them forever
mhMmm perfect for sad winter nights
comes out just in time for spring
new christmas carol of the bells
NO SUCH THING AS A FUCKING SAD WINTER NIGHT.
Hesusfkr Oh yes there is.
Hei
The production is amazing.
The drum sound is phenomenal!
Omar chouikha my uncle does the drums lol kinda awkward(his names steve)
Over-compressed for me, but maybe it's just RUclips. Loved the drum dynamics in the earlier albums.
idk why everyone is calling this depressing music. this sounds super laid back and relaxing, especially when compared to your typical emo tune. sounds perfect to play on late night car rides or when i’m doing homework
Because the lyrics are nothing short of gutting
So in my work I usually end up driving at 3AM and American Football at that hour with all those lights and empty streets hits different
I can already see myself listening to that album, drinking some tea while it's cold and rainy outside. Thank you!
hiii just wanted to be in the comments with all my frens. welcome to post-house
Hi, thank you for inviting
hello poly! thanks for all the amazing material!
Sup bro? Cool song. Are y'all a local band? Keep it up and I can see y'all going places.
This track on repeat all day. So stoked.

Since I was a kid (4yrs), sunsets (Aug/Sep) would make me feel a certain sad feeling of an impending doom... a depressing melancholy. Like the day has gone for it to never return- or maybe more of a good things don't last forever kind of vibe. It's always been something I couldn't really explain well. Maybe I was just mature for my time.
Anyway, although I know that probably made no sense, American Football always make me feel like my 4 year old self sitting by the window watching the Orange light descend, wishing that I could turn back time before it was time to go to school again
Totally made sense.
This sounds like an 80s soundtrack in a zombie movie where the sun is setting.
If I could put one thing in a rocket ship and shoot it straight into the sun, it would be these "watch me whinge about nostalgia and sadness in the RUclips comments" thing people do. So cringey and try-hard.
Taylor Maddox lmao
@@kingcobrajfsofficial I bet you're no fun in any sort of room. Nice words DM Punk, not ass-like.
I love the direction this band is going in, tilting even harder toward post-rock and shoegaze
nothing shoegaze about this. it sounds like generic post rock tho
@@nicholasmichalfaul946 This track is more post-rock than shoegaze for sure, but I'd say that bits like 2:30 where you can hear the ambient guitar groan is shoe gaze. In any case, my remark was referring to the band's overall catalog shifting toward post-rock/shoegaze moreso than highlight this song in particular
Honestly, it makes sense that there is shoegaze influence in here, considering Rachel Goswell is going to be featured in the album somewhere.
@@nicholasmichalfaul946 nothing makes my eye twitch more than people commenting on every track with reverb/chorus saying they can hear the shoegaze influence. holy shit.
It’s a well overdue change. This should’ve been what they sounded like when they first came back.
This sound envokes so much. I'm not gonna compare other bands or shit like that. It's just Fucking beautiful.

@Dee Pascali i guess you have to look at their footprint as a whole. the song in itself has a sonic sound quality. it actually sits very well with their last albums sound. Now i'm not gonna try to convince you that you should enjoy it just because it exists but its definitely a more diverse sound structure then where they started and to expect a band to do the same thing they did nearly 20 years ago when the footprint of their previous work has rippled and nearly created a series of niche genres and sub genres that have been developing and growing all while they remained in active would just be stagnant, its fitting that the band that arguably "started it all" decides to do something different rather then do it again. there's a reason people listen to black sabbaths paranoid because it a classic fitting of its time/era and resonated and developed the sound of rock and metal as a whole. i cant say that so much of their reunion album. sure it sounds like a sabbath album but it lacks the innovation that made the earlier albums lasting. anyways that was definitely too long to read.
@Dee Pascali ruining the string of awesome we had going
don't be so emotional
The crime of the century is how few a views this has! I mean this is American football! Do we have to wait another 15 years for ppl to look back and call this a hidden gem?
Wow I just discovered this band and now they’re releasing new stuff?? What a time to be alive.
opposite of discovering a band thay just broke up
Same !
Lol I just discovered them2 weeks ago, I feel blessed 😂
pizzafork123 I discovered them in 2014, just in time to see their reunion and second LP which I jealously own ❤️
Same here
A year on, this album is absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait for LP4.
really going to enjoy this on my next depressive episode

Lol such a funny comment but I feel you 100%
human emotion at its finest right here, hats off to you and your next struggle! fight the good fight my friend
That's where I'm at right now. Whole life is falling apart after making a terrible decision to drink and drive and got my 2nd dwi. Now I'm buried in financial problems and working constantly. I'm lonely and I came crawling back to someone who literally just wrecked me emotionally then left me when I got the dwi. Lol. I will get through it but damn it's a rough time. It's been since the year this came out that I listened to it but I just came back to this album tonight and it broke me down.
@@thugnarsty fuck man thats rough, im sorry youre going through so much. hang in there and give stuff some time and im sure life will work itself out, till then take care of yourself and reach out to others if you need it x
When I was 16, I only had “Honestly?” downloaded to a mix, and that’s all I knew of American Football. The laser on my CD player could had burned a hole through the section that song on the disc, I played it on repeat so much on long walks at 3am down the coast of Biloxi. Glad the internet has all their music available for 16 -year-olds today.
Dope.
Nah finding this comment randomly while being a huge fan is dope

This is the song I've been waiting 19 years for.
Did it meet your expectations?
Nice NMH profile pic.
@@reubenbolton933 I was looking for long instrumental parts, less lyrics, and singing the words more long and drawn-out like the original LP, and I feel like this song does all of this!
@@carrotflowers9316 I think the aesthetic is an improvement on the previous album, but I'm sort of not that fussed on this particular song. Still there's a Rachel goswell feature lined up, so I'm still excited
@@reubenbolton933 I totally see what you mean. They are on the right direction, and I am excited to see what else they've done, especially with Rachel. I'm looking forward to it for sure.

For me this is by far the best record from them until now.
I'm guessing there's so much influence of Nate Kinsellas style of composition in Birthmark on that intro, such a nice and fresh element to the usual and beautiful style of composition from Mike and the Steves
Can't wait for this album!
Can't wait! These guys never disappoint! I was ecstatic when I heard the announcement!
i hope people will go back and listen to lp 2 because of this and realize how good it was
Agreed. It's a masterpiece.
Alex Seibel I re-listened to it about a month ago. Still not that great. This is much better.
I'm a big fan. Been listening since the first album, back in the early 2000...they are my favorite band, and when they released the 2nd album I was thrilled!!! It's different I know, but the spirit is there! I don't get how people didn't appreciate it that much...I get it, the first one is the one we fell in love with, but these songs are amazing!!!
I found the Owen/AF crossover vibe too bland. There were some decent songs on there for sure, it certainly wasn't awful, just bland.
Actually, it was horrible
CONFIRMED. This is the best album of 2019.
The more I listen to it the more in love I fall on this song. Simply amazing beauty.
It’s so cool how I just got into this band 2 weeks ago and now they’re coming out with lp3
Vocals from 6:30 - 7:00 give chills all over
This sounds so familiar yet so different from your other work. Insane. Cant wait for an album wow.
AAAA I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG.
Discovered this song last Christmas morning. Will be listening again tomorrow morning!
Super interesting new sound! Can't wait for the new LP!
Incredible. American Football hit something spectacular with this song. Blowing my mind right now. These guys are the kings of finding that perfectly heart breaking harmony.

Lyrics for my dudes and gals and evertything inbetween:
Two a.m
Silhouettes
Splayed on the bedsheets
Crime of the century
Forever unkempt
All the muscle memory
It must take to stay close to me
I'm a cloud when you come onto me
Tell me again
What's the allure of inconsequential love?
I'm a fool for your pageantry
Tell me again
What's the allure of inconsequential love?
Oh, the muscle memory
Continue to haunt me
Oh, the muscle memory
Continue to haunt me
Oh, the muscle memory
Continue to haunt me
I promise as soon as the war ends
I'll find you and we'll break laws again

Shit brought tears to my eyes they really have been working on their sound and released it when everybody need it the most. This is stunning , humble, and devastatingly technical. I really am in my feels rn my childhood and my twenty something life are both crying. I can't even rn.....
psyched to see rachell goswell on the album ❤❤ this is amazing. cant wait to hear it.
This has holiday depression written all over it and Jiminy Christmas, it’s merry.
This reminds me a lot of "Idle Plot" era Toe and I'm totally ok with that. Maybe the influence has come full circle.
