I'm a 44 year old male who just heard this song, and I'm typing this through tears. I still carry the wounds from the painful words I heard from kids in school, and this song really got me. This part in particular: "I smile and I pretend it doesn't hurt. But the older that I get it just gets worse." So true... The wounds still affect me, still cause me to strive for the approval of others, and still fill me with the fear that those I love will reject me. Please, Lord, help your words of truth to overcome the words from my past.
I was bullied my whole life from birth and called gay even by my own grandmother Everywhere I went it just kept getting worse Churches Camps Etc I finally gave up on God and now I’m back and deeper in love and stronger than ever with Jesus! Now I’m going back to those churches and everyone who ever hurt me can see they didn’t and couldn’t kill me off. I’m still standing If you’ve been bullied know there’s hope and you will overcome!
My granddaughter was hurt so much in her short life by words .She died tragically at age 18 along with her unborn child when the man that took her life as he jerked her steering wheel was saying he wished her dead and he hated her ,because he wanted a baby boy and they had found out that day it was going to be a girl .God's Holding her now with her daughter ,No more pain no more sorrow no more tears no more fears.She has a new body .Mean Girls and Boys do exist sadly . She will never endure no more . Yes she pretended but when you love someone ,you can see it in their eyes and hear it in there voice .One day I pray when I see Jesus ,my sweet Kaytlynn will be next in line with so many others that God has taken home .

I was content but they made me feel like I wasn’t worth anything. I thank God that my worth is in Him. I had to really learn to accept His worth as what was most important. It was a good lesson but I was so hurt to the core by mean girls words. And the older I got I really struggled with self worth and in some ways I still do. I pray my daughter does not get hurt as deeply as I was.. thank you for this song it is so beautiful

It's made me insecure, but when I feel down I listen to this song. I can't even begin to express how much this song has been something I can grab onto, you know what I mean? It's just so personally touching it makes me cry because people don't understand how much anxiety hurts. They don't care sometimes. Especially my parents and my math teacher. My parents yell when I don't have my math done, and my teacher yells when I don't do her work, yet they wonder why I want to just.. leave. I don't want to d*e, I just don't wanna be like this. I don't understand sometimes, but I just hold onto God and breathe.

I am a sophomore in highschool and just this last November and December I had lost one of my best friends, I had known her since I was two months old and we had made a promise to each other and she had completely back stabbed me and then later I found out that she was talking about me with some of my what I thought to be "friends" and that really hurt me. And what sucks is that they think that they did nothing wrong. But what has really helped me is that at the end of the day I will always have Jesus as a friend and he will love me no matter what I have done and that is so amazing to me!

I lift my sisters in God’s name because I know this personally. I have had a weight issue after my last baby and I have some family that likes to remind of it. I speak out so I’m not the most favorite relative. It still hurts and I want to punch them in the face, thank God he controls my actions. Just be kind to one another we’re all dealing with something. I have had four pregnancies and three living children. My body has changed so much. I never was thin to begin with but my pregnancies still changed my body. I breastfed all my living babies and my breasts are not the same anymore.stretch marks everywhere. Not a body you’d like to see in a bathing suit lol. Do I feel insecure... yep. Especially when we are surrounded by worldly women obsessed with beauty and their standards of beauty are not the same as God’s. But God tells us we are fearfully and wonderfully made and even after our bodies change for whatever the reason we should still remember we are made after his image and embrace the momma bodies that God has given us through giving us our beautiful children. Let’s try to keep our eyes on our Creator and Redeemer Christ Jesus in whom we have worth. Who seeks a beautiful soul, a heart after his own rather than physical perfection. May God show you just how beautiful you are every time you feel you are not. And let’s pray for all these mean girls, for I must admit I was one of them, thinking that I could put other women down just by the way i walked, that God shows them true beauty and lead them to repentance and to the Saviour. I'm so thankfull God put this song in my life. I can relate to this song in a very real way because I have some family members who have , unintentionally, hurt me with their words more times then I can count. They think that their just joking around, but it does hurt me and now I'm here crying because, even though they've hurt me , God still sees me through His eyes of love and I can always trust His promises that I'm worth more than thier sharpest words.I pray that all those struggling to find worth will be flooded with a sense of God's love and be granted the strength to overcome the power of words.

I wish I could look all of the people in the eyes who treated me different than the other kids in church and lovingly explain why they should never do that. I'm in counseling and trying to work through the anxiety and shame fuled by their words that is causing me deep problems as an adult. "Lord, find me and remind me that my worth is so much more than their words."

For anyone being bullied, I want you to know (really know deep inside)that if you "nothing" or " a nobody" then why would others target you? Because they're intimidated by you. They have to belittle you in order to make themselves feel better. They don't want you to realize just how amazing you are. I was bullied from elementary school until my junior year in high school. I was a loner and boys liked me for my body, but when I refused to have sex, they broke up with me and spread rumors about me, girls hated me because I was a tomboy with a romantic heart and their boy friend's opinion of me was that I was okay until their gfs convinced their bfs to bully me (stick me with needles, push me down the stairs, laugh at me in a crowd, threaten to beat me up, etc).. but one day I attempted suicide and I was hospitalized. When I got out of the hospital and did group therapy, I was no longer afraid or the same. I ran for homecoming queen (even though I knew the jocks would win), but I wasn't afraid anymore. I was MYSELF. I studied, helped others, and kept a journal with poetry. I couldn't wait to graduate to get away from my peers because they didn't change. As a matter of fact, I was often told " you're so stupid! You can't even kill yourself right!" And even though it hurt, i didn't give them the satisfaction of bringing me down again. So if you can relate, let me tell you that you're definitely not alone. You are a star in the sky and bullies fear you because you shine. You're beautiful beyond words.

When someone says something nice, the word will appear on her, and that part of her skin with be pretty and smooth. But mean words appear on awful rashes. this song is so good for that book! Words really do hurt her physically.

For anyone being bullied, I want you to know (really know deep inside)that if you "nothing" or " a nobody" then why would others target you? Because they're intimidated by you. They have to belittle you in order to make themselves feel better. They don't want you to realize just how amazing you are. I was bullied from elementary school until my junior year in high school. I was a loner and boys liked me for my body, but when I refused to have sex, they broke up with me and spread rumors about me, girls hated me because I was a tomboy with a romantic heart and their boy friend's opinion of me was that I was okay until their gfs convinced their bfs to bully me (stick me with needles, push me down the stairs, laugh at me in a crowd, threaten to beat me up, etc).. but one day I attempted suicide and I was hospitalized. When I got out of the hospital and did group therapy, I was no longer afraid or the same. I ran for homecoming queen (even though I knew the jocks would win), but I wasn't afraid anymore. I was MYSELF. I studied, helped others, and kept a journal with poetry. I couldn't wait to graduate to get away from my peers because they didn't change. As a matter of fact, I was often told " you're so stupid! You can't even kill yourself right!" And even though it hurt, i didn't give them the satisfaction of bringing me down again.
So if you can relate, let me tell you that you're definitely not alone. You are a star in the sky and bullies fear you because you shine. You're beautiful beyond words.
