Good lures and good color selections, white is def a killer up here in New England. Paddle tails seem to work the best for me, but top waters are my fav to catch em on.

I found using the nomads madscad 120 works well in canal. Except the price is kind of expensive.

All this hype of the best lure for the canal is non-existent. When the fish are there, you can tie a stick with a hook to your fishing pole and bounce it around, and you will get a Striped bass. I have proved this to a friend. When the fish aren't there, no one is catching no matter what lure or Van Staal reel they have, yes there is occasional fish here and there but has nothing to do with your gear. Good video tho.

Depends on who you talk too. Some lures are better designed and can cast further then others. One those day where the bite is at the maximum casts. Many people will sit and wait for the fish to come closer while others are pulling in fish because they can reach it
