    Lately I've been resampling every sound on my SP 202 or 4track. It's bulletproof for lofi'ing homemade samples. Great video.

    Way beyond my current skill level in music production, but still super interesting to watch. I tend to watch too advanced videos all the time to see what awaits me later on instead of concentrating on the basics ;)

    Another great tut. 👍👏
    Don't think it was mentioned in the vid, as a rule of thumb, roughly how long should the kick be? 50-80ms? Less? Thanks.

    • @TomCasey
      @TomCasey  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! There’s no steadfast rule for your kicks’ length. A longer kick may sound more like an 808 if it resonates very long, which you might want.

    • @afi6061
      @afi6061 2 года назад

      @@TomCasey For lofi I wouldn't use and 808, that's more a trap vibe. What length was the kick in the video? That's more the sound I'm after anyway. Thanks.

    • @TomCasey
      @TomCasey  2 года назад

      @@afi6061 I keep my kicks pretty short. It's probably around 50 ms

    • @TomCasey

      I probably made it from my own sounds. I've been ghost producing sample packs for companies for a long time. You can check out my packs here:

    Anyone got a quick Lofi mix tip for high hats?

    • @TomCasey
      @TomCasey  2 года назад +3

      Don't hesitate to EQ out some of the high frequencies from your hi-hats and tune them down a full octave. Many hi-hats sounds in lofi are usually lower in pitch and frequency compared to the polished, hi-fidelity samples people usually grab these days

    You never said what a "tops" is.

    • @TomCasey
      @TomCasey  2 года назад +1

      Umbrella term for high-freq elements, like hi-hats shakers claps and sometimes snares, sometimes grouped together in a single stem inside sample pack products

    • @marc.lepage
      @marc.lepage 2 года назад +2

      @@TomCasey That makes sense, and is what I would have guessed, but this is the first time I have heard that term, not sure how common it is. Thanks for clarifying!
