I have been in love with "The Pink Panther" since I was old enough to say Peter Sellers. I cried as a kid the morning that my mom told me that Peter Sellers died.
I saw Flip not long ago over at Funkhouser in their Concept Chaos series and he was just as dominant there. Definitely a frontrunner for this tourney. Also, every time the Hold My Beer Guys - Harvey, Moe, and Billy - come on, for some reason I think of the Pep Boys - Manny, Moe, and Jack, from the auto service chain. They were founded outside of Philly, not far from where I grew up, though long before I was born.
Yet another great race! Two drivers come to mind who have been tearing it up lately, Flip & Feral Patrick. Congrats on a great win, & great work Mark!!
Crazy good racing. Gratz to Flip on an amazing race and build. That was the 2nd time I've seen a car jump lanes on Shavano. Think it was just a couple weeks back a car jumped that same lane. Outrageously exciting. Another awesome production. Gratz on the 25.2k milestone. "Keep your roof to the Sun". Mahalo! 🤙🏽
That's one fast Datsun - looks like a contender for the championship! That's the 2nd time we've seen a car jump lanes - this time giving 3 cars on the drift pad. The question is would it be given the train jump bonus if it happened in the 2nd half - I think we need a ruling from the stewards!
The rule is, starting from each lane, the driver must take the joker lane 2 times, so no train bonus points would be awarded if it happens again during the 2nd half.
My favorite track, hands down. Looking forward to the Chevy Wagon Gasser in the next one. BTW: U guys complement each other well without the "GOOFY" banter.
If I may respectfully respond to that last point, it is a JOB to rein in Aaron and keep him on task at times 😆 It rarely happens that he gets this distracted but for me, always chuckle worthy!
I was hoping Wendell would challenge Flip, but he clearly had no chance against that silver car...another great contender for the championship...definitely on my list...❤❤❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Do yo u notice any correlations between weight distribution and a cars ability to drift nicely? What about weight distribution and overall racing consistency?
Yes, there is a correlation. I have encouraged the builders to shoot for a 50/50 weight distribution. However, some HWs naturally drift better than others. Track conditions were odd today, and it was a bit disappointing for me personally to see the competitor's struggle. Now, take for instance the Woody. I was tail heavy (60/40) but behaved like it was nose heavy during the races. The Avant and Datsun wagons appear to be consistent, but the Maxima and Volvo drift wagons are a little more temperamental. I wish it were easy to predict, but it's not. The best drifter in this tournament is Herb's Chevy Nomad.

3:30 What if such a lane change would happen in one of the 4 last rounds where you get extra points when jumping over the train? Would 3 drivers get extra points? 🤔
In the intro you had a great new angle on the creek jump ... could you use that angle during the racing?? It was very dramatic as the cars are coming very much toward the camera. Thanks!
Keith, that's a very keen observation. You are on the edge. DNF's on Shavano have ruined people's day, but you did quite well on the Scrambler, which is promising.

Ha!! Good question! I suppose the answer is no. The rule is a driver must take the joker lane twice when cycling thru the lanes.
