I can tell already that the owner is going to LOVE what your restoration will do for their piano. Can't wait to see it! Please do some kind of show-and-tell at least the after, if not some of the in-process work.
Chris, looking forward this rebuild! My 1st soundboard was a Mason & Hamlin A. I was blind to the laminated vertical bridges with different species of wood, now its old hat. Good to see you back in the shop...
wow, still sounds good in spite of the aging, wear, and cracks in the soundboard and bridge. I'd like to see each step in the process of rebuilding it, and see and hear him play the same thing in the restored version. Will you repair the soundboard, or make a new one? The plate I'd almost like to keep it the same, just some cleaning, it has beauty and character the way it is, but you will probably repaint for a true restoration.
