Nice video. I've missed many of the early years of gta racing and it's nice hearing a short part of the story from someone like you, who has been there since the beginning pretty much. You've made a good point at 3:50, it's always great to look back and see how far we've come, time has proven that there's always room for improvement in this game no matter how good your lap looks, so it's always worth to try and improve your pbs or beating someone else's lap, if you think about it it's crazy that we're still getting faster on a 10+ year old game, just shows how complex the game is. This is why I got on pc, apart from being able to drive AWDs in peace again on PH, it's almost like a new experience for me so I went back to a handful of tracks I hotlapped in the past to see what I could do now, I want to give my absolute best on this game and say goodbye to it when the time comes.
There are so many memories connected with this game. I learned how to drive and race in it. I switched to Sim Racing a while back but the things i learned in GTA i still use there. Going to see what i can manage. I doubt i will get close but nice to see what you and the others will achive. :)
Game physics on the playstation always felt different as the years passed on ps4. The fastest time done on ps4 was a mid 4.37 i did in a t20 years ago. Ps5 i know would be even faster. u make me want to try it now days haha. Glad to c you keeping it alive
great little retrospective, awakens a lot of emotions for sure. the gta racing community has so many interesting facets from all the social ones to the development of the skill ceiling and mechanics discovered through the years. maybe one day someone will make the 2 hour long gta racing history video essay and showcase what we grew up with. hope youre doing well and that youre taking care of yourself and great lap as always ✌
Ahh the memories, I remember a Turismo race around the Galileo circuit was the first race I ever watched, on Gunit's channel! Later I'd tune in to all the MCEC races (I remember you duking it out with Picano) and Cirrus' COTM series. Good times
Yooo Smithy it's Mid from NoDo ps3, nice video. I remember the first event we hosted on PC was North Loop in supercars, in fact I just went and found the screenshots, and I got 4th place in my Turismo R (highest non Zentorno) with a 4:56 lap time. iTwisterr won with a 4:49 which is pretty wild for a Zentorno in 2015 in a contact endurance race. I wish I could've done better on PC because I was decently good on PS3 but my PC was pretty bad with a GTX 660 GPU (lol). I had so much frame rate lag in events that I just could not compete. I do fully intend on returning to racing when GTA 6 comes out, probably on PS5. I hope a lot of the other old timers are there, too.
I loved GTA-Racing at this time. I watched Broughy's channel getting bigger and bigger and even raced with him a couple of times. Racing was fun and I always treid to have the best car in the garage. Actually I played GTA V as a racing simulator and nearly ignored the most of the other content... Then more and more expensive cars were released, the money from winning races was not enought to buy the new cars, Stunt-Racing was released and I started to lose interest in the game. I did not want to buy shark-cards or being forced intoi heists to be able to race with my cars. Then I moved on and started to play other games. I sometimes miss the time racing in GTA V with some of the first self-made tracks... btw: I saw most of the vidoes from the guys you mentioned - including youselves - in the old times and I very much enjoied them.
I remember grinding the North Loop in the Elegy, to participate in the first ever NODO endurance race on NL. iirc a good lap back then was like 6:20. Good times.
@@SmithyOneTwelve I remember names like Haydug, Trowa, Kelevera and BlueEyedMalice. Maybe some of them still race on PH? Broughy was quite a beast too. Thanks for uploading these, they always bring me back. Hard to believe it's been 10 years.

Thank you. I'm really excited to see what you and the other elite hotlappers can achieve between now and the end

@@Mid-no3pk yo man, long time no see ahah! Yeah, I'm hoping to see some old names return with gta 6 too :)
What a trip down memory lane. It sure was a blast.
Absolutely. Lots of memories from this game (many of which on tracks made by you!) and community, and hopefully many more too

Wow, what a throwback. Before I had even found the community! Good times indeed.

You're gonna make me go get PS+ to play online again aren't you?
