The voice of UB40 Ali Campbell and the late astro rip singing this masterpiece of a song fricking amazing and yes it was a Neil diamond song but with the reggae vibe to this song once you hear it you never stop singing along to it and the legend astro rip with his toasting on it made it a great song one of my favourite songs and Ali Campbell and astro singing this song together were amazing and Ali Campbell is the voice of UB40 and the face of UB40 and to me I would rather have the original singer of UB40 and his musicians and backing vocalist because before our beloved astro passed away and it was UB40 ft Ali astro and Mickey virtue to me back when Ali and astro were together on stage we had 2 of the original singers of UB40 and how fricking amazing is it that Ali Campbell sold out Glasgow armadillo and his hometown of Birmingham twice big love Ali Campbell xx and rip astro legend until the end thanks for the music and the memories xxx
Good music never dies and seeing astro doing his bit on the song what a legend astro was and Ali Campbell would know his voice anywhere and Ali Campbell is the voice of UB40 and what I don't understand is why the Frick robin Campbell didn't take over as lead vocals when Ali Campbell and Mickey virtue left in 2008 instead of bringing in Duncan Campbell as Duncan Campbell is no way near as good as the voice of UB40 Ali Campbell and he has just sold out Glasgow armadillo and his hometown of Birmingham twice big love Ali Campbell and rip astro legend until the end also rip Brian Travers big love Ali Campbell xx
Why can’t this come back so my generation and others to come can experience real music! Not a band I know today is completely live like this. Much loce
Back in the 80s my mom was an alcoholic, and you better believe she jammed out to this song almost every car trip. She used to pass out in my room while I was playing and wouldn’t wake up for anything, scaring the crap out of 6-year old me. Thankfully, she’s been sober since the mid-90s and is an awesome person whom I love to death.
My dad used to love this song, even if he didnt know what all those words meant, he felt the music! It reminds me of him and how awesome and cool he was. Now that i understand the lyrics i wish he was here so i could teach him the words and we could sing it together.
What makes you think he didn't know? I would hate if my kids thought I didn't know certain things just because they grew up and finally figured it out 😂
My jaw is on the floor! Im 37 and i would have swore the lead singers were not as white as me. The jamaican music just calls me!!. An as a little girl this song made me so happy. Id be dancing my ass off!!

One of the most genius lyrics i've ever heard, The part where astro comes in and Ali and robin sings meanwhile or behind his rap is absolutely phenomenal.
UB40.......Love that British group who openmindedly chose "reggae" ....gotta give the Brits credit for daring to "explore!".....for embracing different genres, embracing reggae music...look at their reggae concerts...tells a story one yet has to see here in the USofA! And yes, the gum-chewing lends reality to reggae's down-to- earth lyrics...Yah maan!
I first heard this song when I was 9 years old and it was my favorite. It evokes sadness, disappointment, resignation, acceptance, humor, optimism...and much more.
2024 and the voice of UB40 Ali Campbell is still amazing and still selling out his hometown of Birmingham twice first time being the in memory of astro rip concert and recently sold out Glasgow armadillo and his hometown of Birmingham with his hits tour big love Ali Campbell you are the voice of UB40 and your voice omg love you ali Campbell keep going your doing brilliant and the legend astro rip riep astro rip you were here and thanks for the music and the memories big love Ali xxx

As far as I know this is the only song in history who got to number 1 after being played live 5 years later after it's release. That's how good this version is
I'm still here in 2021. My understanding of where the name for this group came from is they used to meet up in the Unemployment Benefits office and fill out Form UB40. That was the cover of the first album. Is this true? Love this sound!! Never gets old.
The band's name is UB40. Named after a British unemployment benefit form, pop-reggae band UB40 were formed in a welfare line in 1978, after a few jamming sessions a friend suggested the name cause not of the members had a job.
As a Trade union activists I congratulate the forty unemployed boys UB40 upon fighting unemployment through creativity and drama. I encourage all others to follow suit
I love this song to bits. I played it over and over and again and again while I was travelling on an Ethiopian Airlines aeroplane going on holiday to my home country, Zimbabwe, from Heathrow Airport to Harare. It is such a beautiful song and very relaxing while travelling in an aeroplane. I also enjoyed this UB40 band's perfomance in Harare, Zimbabwe some years ago at our Sports Stadium in Harare. Red, red wine, it's up to you
All I can do I've done

I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red, red wine, stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart my blue heart
Life is fine every time
Thoughts of you leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red, red wine, stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart my blue heart
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
You keep me rockin' all of the time
