Drove one of these as a courier for a while. Best van I ever had! Boxy roomy and relaible, shame the new Vivaro is smaller. Im glad Renault kept this platform
After putting almost 100,000 miles on my 2016 Renault Trafic 120Sport, I had no hesitation in ordering a new 145 Trafic Sport.. Beautiful Vans and amazing service intervals
your review is user friendly. thanks alot ! i mean alot of car-reviewrs try to make car look good, but your approach is better i think. at the end customer decide what to buy. ! keep it up
I’ve had my sport 120 for 4 years from new, 40k miles and absolutely love it! No real issues, 40mpg, never felt that the 1.6 engine was too small and the whole van feels good quality for the money. The Renault dealers however! Completely useless.
Tom here: Can't comment on the dealers, but completely agree with you on the quality of the van. It's a true workhorse - reliable, safe & just plain good looking.
That's exactly how i feel ,our company likes the van, almost 200kms on the clock and up for replacement ;but, Renault HQ in Sydney left a bad taste in our mouths ,we are now looking at buying 3 more vans and are considering fords'.
Renault is not a big seller in Australia. This van is now on sale rebadge as a Mitsubishi Express. The express was a top selling van in Australia for many years until safety test found it as poor in its box shape design and was removed from the range in 2005. Mitsubishi is hoping this reinvented Express van will bring it back into the top selling range. I think Renault would be hoping as well.
Tom here: I guess the utility vehicle market is a bit stronger so vans maybe don't get as much of a look in meaning Renault vans drop out the way of other brands.
Any of you seen the Trafic black edition? Looks epic in the urban grey! Not sure about the 103mph top speed. On a private road I've seen the previous 1.6 115hp showing 112mph.
I have a new one upgraded from my 2014 auto, but struggle getting comfy in the new one, peddles seem off set and the seat feels smaller than the old one, i can't stop my foot sliding on the accelerator, just struggling with it at the moment, i feel perched in it and less immersed in it like the old 115 bhp. Not sure its a week old but maybe I will get comfy one day.
Tom here: Really sorry to hear that. There will always be bad stories about every van, sorry to hear you didn't get to enjoy this one. What do you drive now?
My 2014 had done 210k and also auto honestly apart from normal maintenance and aircon packing in it was a great old bus. The new 170 is much faster though
Not sure what the reliability of these new Renault Van's are like but I know they were horrendous, my old man used to be a van dealer, him and load of other van dealers would stay clear of the renualts.
Interesting review. But something very important and rarely covered in van reviews that many owners have suffered is van security. How easy is it to break in and steal expensive work equipment or steal the van, catalytic converter or diesel fuel. Are the door locks enforced to stop crowbar or drill breaking the lock are there added locks to stop doors being bent down for entry. Is there alarm options, tracking, phone alert.
I really really hate to say it but the interior is EXACTLY the same to a 19 plate vivaro I used for a few days at work. only deference is the vivaro didnt have touch screen infotainment, every thing is the same. and to be truthful, I prefer the trafic and trafic 'shape' of the vivaro to the Peugeot expert vivaro. the Peugeot shape is smooth on the road but not as exciting to drive.
@@vanaramauk every chance I get to drive the previous shape I take it in a heartbeat. I currently have a Peugeot boxer at work and it is complete garbage. due to a trapped muscle in my neck, I needed a high top van for lifting heavy parcels in and out and the 'Peugeot' vivaro I had before it just didnt do me any favors. I'm waiting on a Mercedes sprinter to replace the boxer, there'll be difference in MPG but the boxer is just terrible to drive.
I have a 2016 with 102000 on the clock the vans ok but the dashboard material is really cheap plastic that marks really easily which I doubt they have upgraded I've noticed in other vans in the class the dash board material is more hard wearing
No matter what van you look at, you get put off by the bad experiences. This, the Transit Custom people saying stay away!?! I'm in the market for one to convert into a camper....WHAT DO I BUY????
Tom here: You'll hear the same stories about any van/vehicle. Go with the one that gives you the best chance to do with it what you want to do with it.

Tom here: True dat, but more vans are doing away with them and just using toggles instead. I point it out purely to contrast with the other vans out there.
We had 2 and have to say big mistake both have had nothing but problems from 10k. Fuel problems 8k. ignition issues around 12k. Locking issues. In the garage every few weeks. We are cutting our loss and getting transits.
Tom here: Sorry to hear that you had trouble with your vans. I always hate hearing that people have had a bad time. Sincerely hope the Transits work out better for you.
Terrible looking van. That shape van has been around for decades now. Sick looking at them. The engines are not nearly as efficient as the new citroen dispatch (55mpg)
Tom here: For real? I'm a big fan of the Trafic's looks. I completely agree with your feelings on the engine, but then that's just down to the WLTP figures.
I like that renault are keeping the shape all the new shape vans are too rounded off the new vivaro is awful im dreading to see what the next transit will look like i wonder what these new trafics are like over 100k miles
@@transit1199 Tom here: Me too. Although I'm often more interested in the first 100k miles. Can tell you a lot about what to expect over the rest of the van's life.
I'm looking at this review because I'm about to take delivery of a 2021 Sport Nav. My current van is also a Trafic, but a 2016. Frankly, all this stuff the reviewer is showing as if its new, is not. My 2016 has most of what he has shown so he either thinks all this is latest and new or just doesn't know previous models. Hasn't done his homework, just waffles a load of rubbish. Sorry but now I feel somewhat disappointed about my new Van.
Yet another boring cheap looking french interior. Steering wheel is leatherette and the switchgear looks like cheese. Only positive thing are the LED headlights which you didn't mention or didn't know? Ford custom and the transporter are leagues ahead with cabin refinement.
Tom here: So many vans have LED lights at the top trims, didn't think to mention them (my bad). I agree that Customs have a huge edge in the cabins, but it doesn't take away much from the Trafic's Sport trim level being a great tip of the iceberg for the range.
Drove one of these as a courier for a while. Best van I ever had! Boxy roomy and relaible, shame the new Vivaro is smaller. Im glad Renault kept this platform
Tom here: Yeah, it's a great platform. One of the most underrated, if you ask me.
Have this van for 5 years now best van I have ever owned
I have ordered one and have watched this review over and over. Its such a good review, love it!
Tom here: Glad to be of service. Did you order from Vanarama?
The button you said was for heated rear window! Is for the heated door mirrors,I have this van in 145 bhp ,great van, love it
Tom here: Yes it is! I realised this fact after we finished recording. I thought the mirrors were sensor-based, but you're right. It's a great van.
Black edition?

I've driven quite a few vans but this one is the best I've driven.
Tried them all and this came out on top for me
Tom here: Great to hear. The Trafic Sport is a really great van. The cabin was a personal highlight.
Thanks for the review. It's a van I've had my eye on for awhile especially sport trim level.
Tom here: You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. The Sport trim level is amazing. Well-rounded van too.
Love this van, used it for a few years as a taxi driver (mini bus) now I’m driving the VW transporter, and I like the Traffic better.

Yep and the heater switch is for the mirrors
Great review! In infotainment system and interior quality reminds me of my Nissan Navara d23! Very proud of the Nissan Renault alliance!

What’s the tow capacity?
Nice video many thanks
Sure, reversing camera can be ordered from the factory!
I hope Renault has solved the gearbox issues that the previous ones had.
That shallow storage box on the passenger side you could use to store a Maltese's and chocolate bar underneath
