Derek Collins I feel so too, I think the Big Daddy should not die in the first film, but in Kick Ass 2, because this film Mindy was too young to lose her father ...
adambelfast1 Disagree. He was supposed to be a strange guy in this movie and with that music going...This is easily one of my top scenes every in a movie.
Obababoy I don't have a problem with the scene as a whole. I like it myself, it's just the way he shouts in this. It's pretty bad imo. I'm not sure if he's trying to sound in pain or as you said he just strange or both, but he sounds like he's doing a terrible impression of a song from Grease. "KRYPTONIIIITE" I don't see the need for him to act that way.
adambelfast1 I hear that. I will admit I was curious what his tone was insinuating but the directors and other people controlling him when acting the scene clearly meant for him to yell how he did. I wouldn’t call him a good father , brainwashing your kid to be an assassin at a young age it’s not a good thing , yeah he genuinely cared about her and she let her have fun like at the bowling , it was just training , but still I wouldn’t call him a good father and that’s what makes him a good character. What’s he doing is obviously wrong but we still empathize with him.
he's a good father. he loved his kid and taught her what she needed to learn to survive in the real world. most parents feed their kids lies and teach them the world is pretty and the good guys always win. He was a better father than 99.9999% of fathers out there. He wasn't insane, he just refused to accept the lie that the justice system works. Criminal, yes, by definition. Insane, no.@@yveltalpoderoso1303
I think "take cover child" is such an underrated line. He's been shown to be very cautious and calculated, we've him seen go to the extent of adding small amounts of facial hair help protect their identities. He's beyond accepting his fate, he's announcing it to his daughter, in the form of coaching to ensure she doesnt ponder on it and get killed herself
At the end when D'Amico is fighting Hit Girl and he makes the point that she killed everybody in his crew. "I wish I had a son like you". That line makes me laugh because his pansy son is in the next room.
I cried so much at this scene because i realized even when big daddy must have been in the worst agony imaginable and would do anything to get out of it he still valued his daughters life more than his own and even gives her tips on how to take down the enemys while being burnt alive now that is a true father with love for his daughter.
@@preciousotoakhia9789 I never even thought of it that way, swear this film went under so many peoples radar or they didnt appreciate how good it actually was, like yes it used comedy as a base but it had genuine emotion throughout.

06pag Both movies kinda makes fun of the superhero formular. Both movies know they aren't 100% realistic and has a bit of fun with that. Yea people don't compare them as much anymore because of the death of the Deadpool-hype. But while the Deadpool hype was up and going, every single person saying that "Deadpool changed the superhero movie formular/genre" (or something like that) would've gotten a response with "No, Kick-Ass did" (or something like that).
As a father of 2 9yr old daughters I still full on cry watching this scene, not tripping on himself burning alive but instead coaches his baby through a life or death situation to make sure SHE'S gonna be ok.😭😭😭😭😭😭
Well with that new perspective you've given, this scene hits a lot different because its so true. As soon as BD is lit up, he knows he's not going to be able to get out of there /with/ her, so he does the only thing he can and thats coaching her through so that she still has a chance of making it out of there. He's burning alive pretty slowly, and he's in pain but he's got enough strength to keep screaming for her to keep moving, and even when its all done and over - he hangs on just a little longer to tell her how much he loves her and even through the pain the man is //still smiling// for her.
Right there with you! He's being burned alive, but he knows he can't scream out in pain, that would make his daughter panic and rush carelessly forward to save her father. Heartbreaking scene!!
The fact he coached his daughter while dying (in agonizing pain) still gets to me. I cry every time I see this scene --- he loved his daughter, nobody can write that off.
I love how even though this is done kinda in comic book style, they keep the handguns realistic: she had to reload several times as opposed to having a magical handgun that somehow holds 500 rounds. LOL.
Yall kids always say the same sht. It's not like Nic cage was in 3 movies ... Robin's revenge line is genius- When the third Robin first started, he was facing a blind man who was still ten times the martial artist he was. So rather than run straight at the guy, what he did was set a whistle to blow, and flanked around the villain while he was distracted by the noise. Kind of the same way Mindy used the strobe light to disable her opponents' primary sensory input, and flanked around them to kill them.
I think why I love this scene so much, is that Big Daddy only started coaching her when he was set ablaze. Up to that point, he knew she had it in the bag and those goons were going to be picked off one by one by her over a couple of minutes. But when he was set ablaze and saw her foolishly rush out, he knew she was losing her focus because of him, fought through the pain enough to be coherent, and offered good advice on what SHE specifically should do with her loadout and skills to keep her safe, even in the madly confusing, pitch black, loud as hell, gunfight. God this movie and Big Daddy are so underrated.
This scene is really something unlike other fighting scenes I've ever seen. I mean I wasn't like," Whoah! Kill those gangsters Hit Girl! They don't have a chance!" Throughout the whole scene I was quiet. The music that starts to play when they burn Big Daddy fits the fighting scene and gave me goosebumps. I couldn't help myself but to get teary-eyed watching a little girl trying to save his dad. Best fighting scene ever!
This is one of my all time favorite movie sequences. Everything is perfect about it. It always brings me to tears because I didn't have a relationship with my father. No doubt he would have only thought about himself in this situation. Big daddy was trying to save everyone.
This scene is so badass and emotional. Even though you can't see her for most of it, you can feel Hit-Girls anger as soon as she stabs that first guy in the heart and shoots him in the face. I love how he uses comic references to instruct her what to do. This scene should be called Robin's Revenge.
You know…Big Daddy might be a sociopath who trained his daughter to be a murderer…but damnit he is a GREAT father. He’s been beaten and tortured and is being burned alive and his main focus is making sure his daughter is ok… brings tears to my eyes watching this
nic cage man, he was burning but did not bother him instructing his child the music is on another level too, and this movie gave chloe moretz the limelight of stardom
IMO, this is one of the most well made action scenes of all time, in almost every aspect. From concept, to cinematography, to the score, etc. I don't think the music can be understated though. The music can make or break a scene, and I don't think they could have chosen a better fitting piece for this scene. This movie as a whole is incredible, especially considering the budget and how much of that small budget went to the actors. There are many great action scenes and the movie is put together very nicely. But this scene is one of the all time greats, and gives me chills everyone I watch it.
Makes me tear up each time. Despite the fact its a comic movie, you can feel how much the father loves his daughter and vise versa. They are both willing to sacrifice for eachother. Big daddy is even trying to do so when being burned alive. Had to pause to write this because it makes me want to cry.
The black and white sequence with Hit Girl jumping out from the corner and shooting the last guy before killing the camera...WHAT. A. SHOT!! Stunning transition.
This shows that movie producers don't know jack sometimes. I read they were worried and upset Cage was using his Adam West Batman voice but that is what made Big Daddy as a character. Awesome!
Perfect scene. By far the most epic kick-ass scene of all. I've only watched this movie once about a decade ago and I can still vividly recall this scene and sometimes get the urge to watch it
I don’t care what anyone says, this will always be one of the most badass scenes in the history of cinema. You end up loving the protagonists at this point in the movie, only to see them about to die in a situation seemingly hopeless, then one of the best characters in the film you thought was dead suddenly comes in to save the day and kick ass, but sadly is not able to save her father. Not only is the choreography awesome, but the timing of everything, the mix of so many strong emotions it elicits, and just everything about it is almost unparalleled. There’s nothing like watching this scene for the first time, not knowing to expect
This film is by far Nic Cage's best performance. Another amazing thing to come out of this is Hit Girl. Honestly, Kickass is just a passenger in these films.
The defining element of this scene, for me at least, is how Big Daddy doesn't give a shit about whether he dies or not. Doesn't care that he is burning to death. Just dedicates his last moments to making sure his little girl makes it through this alive. “An old man dies, a little girl lives. Fair trade.”
Funny how big daddy died in the warehouse he burned down and killed those guys before, now it is his daughter doing the same in front of the world rip big daddy legends never die 🙏🙏
Still my favourite scene from any film ever. Sure, lots of memorable and classic scenes elsewhere but this really was a powerful, intense scene. Works best when you have watched the entire film rather than on its own .. but everything about it was spot on from the music score to the acting, to the direction to the staging and choreography.. just all round perfect. One of the best cinematic scenes in history for me.
Best scene in the franchise. Absolutely beautiful writing how big daddy instructs hit girl with comic book titles and themes. Switch to kryptonite. Now go to robin's revenge. Beautiful.
Who gives a Shit if the fire is CGI or not CGI etc this is STILL one of the Baddest Fuckin Rescues in the history of modern cinema.. Fucking Awesome!!! Go HitGirl!!!!
The fire that burns Big Daddy is NOT CGI ... according to statements from the producers it´s real fire that burns in slowmotion and I find it awesome that they went the extra mile for the sake of authenticity.
Why is there always some over-exaggerating idiot like you spouting hyperbole all over the place commenting on these types of videos? "in the history of modern cinema" lol shutup.
It's really good I've actually come back to this movie after a few years and am surprised at the feels I get, but to me my favorite will always be in Guardians Of The Galaxy: the whole dance off to save the universe and when Starlord actually grabs the power stone and is struggling to stay alive from the energy. If you remember the scene you know how epic it is!
+Hellen Nichols Unfortunately in the Kickass universe the Avengers (and all other comic book heroes) are fictional just like in our reality, but that would be so awesome. I could definitely see Black Widow, Hawkeye, or even the Winter Soldier training her.
The moment when she draws down on the 2 goons with the krpto-strobe....and the score begins to crest.....one of the most potent moments I've ever experienced in film.

This movie remains in my memories as one of the most unexpectedly excellent movies I've ever watched.
nic cage fucking killed it in this scene
When i was younger watching this with my dad I totally got teary eyed at this scene.
I can't believe that this movie is so much older than i expected!
Possibly the most underrated comic book movie ever.
Agreed
1 of the best scenes in the movie for sure
In cinema's history rather !
i'm 7 :'(
You hurt my feeling so bad by being mean like that. pLz StAhP
This scene is epic. The music cage yelling and hit girls hand movements. EPIC!!!
What a classic scene. The music from Sunshine that plays here feels like it was made for this part
This movie has 2 Quicksilvers in it but only one of them was awesome. Also Kick Ass 2 was a huge let down compared to this
You're nuts! They were both awesome, sadly one didn't get to continue to portray the character.
And yeah, Kick-Ass 2 was a major let down for me as well.
I love Kick-Ass 2, but I am aware that it is way inferior to the first one.
It just goes to show the power of the right director behind the lenses. Makes all the difference in the world.
Kick-Ass 2, sucked.
He’s been beaten and tortured and is being burned alive and his main focus is making sure his daughter is ok…
brings tears to my eyes watching this
be honest. the role of hit girl makes it or breaks it for this film. chloe moretz is the star of this movie
nic cage man, he was burning but did not bother him instructing his child
the music is on another level too, and this movie gave chloe moretz the limelight of stardom
1:00 when she stabs the guy in the HEART, and then shoots him in the HEAD just for good measure. EPIC
Makes me tear up each time. Despite the fact its a comic movie, you can feel how much the father loves his daughter and vise versa. They are both willing to sacrifice for eachother. Big daddy is even trying to do so when being burned alive. Had to pause to write this because it makes me want to cry.
Funny how big daddy died in the warehouse he burned down and killed those guys before, now it is his daughter doing the same in front of the world
Just watched this again, it’s been a while. What a scene man
The black and white sequence with Hit Girl jumping out from the corner and shooting the last guy before killing the camera...WHAT. A. SHOT!! Stunning transition.
This shows that movie producers don't know jack sometimes. I read they were worried and upset Cage was using his Adam West Batman voice but that is what made Big Daddy as a character. Awesome!
As a father of a nine year old girl, I can't wait for her to be a little older and watch to watch this movie
Just let her watch it now. Hit Girl was like the same age, even perhaps younger with training
@@FireStormBaller hell no., Wait until she's at least 12/13
@@FireStormBaller hell no., Wait until she's at least 12/13
Wow, now I See you posted this 4 years ago, Have she watched this movie already ?
@@kaique8569 yeah - she probably saw it a year later. One if her favorite movies and she is she's just now starting to watch other R rated movies
Best movie scene ever.
The crazy part is that Big Daddy knew all the tactical gear she brought and she heard him even through all the chaos
This film is by far Nic Cage's best performance. Another amazing thing to come out of this is Hit Girl. Honestly, Kickass is just a passenger in these films.
The movie is actually about hit girl not kick ass
even in his final moments he is helping her the best he can do
A fleeting moment where you think everyone is gonna be saved :(
As any dad, that look of awe on Nick Cage's face when he see's what his daughter is capable of, rocks my soul. Can't watch without tears
What about big joe
Love the sin city reference
Funny how big daddy died in the warehouse he burned down and killed those guys before, now it is his daughter doing the same in front of the world rip big daddy legends never die 🙏🙏
Hands down, one of the best moments in the MCU.
You mean DC 😂😂😂
This is one of my favorite Movie scenes of all time.
The soundtrack of this movie is FUCKING PERFECT! :D
She is fast, agile, ruthless and deadly, but most importantly highly intelligent and cool under fire.
Agree, one of my favorites. Epic, beautiful, badass and a little hilarious at the same time
yep I agree
Best scene in the franchise. Absolutely beautiful writing how big daddy instructs hit girl with comic book titles and themes. Switch to kryptonite. Now go to robin's revenge.
Beautiful.
Still hard to believe that Chloe Moretz was 11 years old when filming this movie and now she's 21 years old.
Always come back to this one. Just wow.
Still one of the best scenes in history.
Who gives a Shit if the fire is CGI or not CGI etc this is STILL one of the Baddest Fuckin Rescues in the history of modern cinema.. Fucking Awesome!!! Go HitGirl!!!!
The fire that burns Big Daddy is NOT CGI ... according to statements from the producers it´s real fire that burns in slowmotion and I find it awesome that they went the extra mile for the sake of authenticity.
ma82fo no some dude down their mentioned it being CGI the fact that its not just makes the scene even better...thanks man :)
Why is there always some over-exaggerating idiot like you spouting hyperbole all over the place commenting on these types of videos? "in the history of modern cinema" lol shutup.
vinnie couture lol I don't care if you listen to me or not
roloug95 funny i was gonna say the same thing since YOU started this shit
this was my favorite movie, my favorite movie scene ever, it's nostalgic and still love it.
Hands down one of the most epic action scenes EVER :O
god this movie was so good, i need to watch it again
I love how Big Daddy is shouting out different comic books as code for Hitgirl, that is so hype
This is the best superhero scene of all time, over all super hero movies! Like if you agree!
It's all subjective my friend.
That moment when Hit Girl embraces Big Daddy while she extinguish the flames.
Hit girl should work on Avengers ...
*****
+Hellen Nichols Unfortunately in the Kickass universe the Avengers (and all other comic book heroes) are fictional just like in our reality, but that would be so awesome. I could definitely see Black Widow, Hawkeye, or even the Winter Soldier training her.
+Hellen Nichols Nope Avengers should work for her
+Termi103 they dont let u in the avengers of u murdered a lot of ppl
I have to come back and watch this scene every now and then for my well-being ❤
The moment when she draws down on the 2 goons with the krpto-strobe....and the score begins to crest.....one of the most potent moments I've ever experienced in film.
