My hair would h8 me for even putting these lil arse braids in the first place. I have 3c hair and it doesn’t like being bounded up in hair styles for too long. I feel like kinkier hair styles handle these type of protective styles soo much better. Seems like they experience less shedding. These braids are beautiful and she did an amazing job tho. 👏🏼
why is no one talking about how amazing it is that Dev took the time to make a platform where people can vent about their feelings while we’re all stuck in quarantine? it made me happy knowing that this channel acknowledges mental health ❤️❤️❤️
When I braid my hair or do a Protective Hairstye, the night b4 I wash my hair and then I let it air dry for like 30minutes and then I gently brush my hair out in sections & add coconut & jamaican black castor oil ( NOT TOO MUCH DOE) and put my Hair into 2 french braids. Then the next day when I get ready to do the protective hairstyle my hair is detangled & is like a blow out without any heat!!
Alea J maybe but there’s a such thing as French braids too.. ._. My mom always did them on me when she didn’t know what else to do with my hair 😂 French braids look different than cornrows or plaits, they’re braided the opposite way.
When I was in beauty school, I was the only student who could braid worth beans, so I got to do a LOT of box braids, and you're so right. My first set took 2 days (I felt so bad that the girl had to come back), but by the time I graduated I could do a set in about 7 hours. I haven't done braids since, but I miss it so much.
I'm 36 and been doing mine and a few others since high school. No matter the size, it still takes me forever esp on my own head. Box braids big and small and micro kinky twists- that's usually what I do on myself.
I've done this to myself before.... I slave to the braids because I love them so much! You did an excellent job. I left mine in for 8 months and washed my hair EVERY 2 weeks as well as conditioning. Grew a whole new head of hair! I kept oil on my hair 'close' to my scalp and managed the twist of curls as my hair grew out. It wanted to dread and I wasn't having it. My hair was down to my waistline. I would definitely have someone else do it for me now.
I love long sleek braids. Kept my hair like this for a year. Take em out & put em right back in. Prob like 4 sets total. My hair grew soooo much. Do this ladies on a journey. It’s worth it. & if you braid em down neat enough, the take down really doesn’t take long. They kinda just unravel. I promise! Lol. These are beautiful. I’m going to the hair store. Now! Lol.
i braid my hair frequently and i learned that prep really helps cut down time. the day before i do my braids i prepart my sectional its plenty of videos on that💜☺️
I was just watching some of her other videos from not that long ago and I really noticed a big difference in her skin. It's glowing and getting so clear! I'm so happy for her :) ❤️
I did my own box braids too and it took me 5 hours!!! I loved how it turned out, but I legit vowed to not do it again lol it’s so tiring. So when my friends asked me if I could do theirs I laughed so hard, that ain’t gonna happen my G!!🤣 love your braids ❤️❤️brings back memories.
I didn’t think I would ever put braids that small in my head but u just made me wanna do it🥵🥵 so sometime this year I will be doin it and I might leave it for 2 months🤣🤣 edit: if you’re a youtuber or new youtuber comment maybe we can become RUclips friends🤷🏽♀️
I have 3C/4A hair and Garnier Fructis leave-in works so well with my hair! My hair dries as if it has gel on it. The definition and moisturization is amazing.
Been watching you from the beginning and seeing how far you've come makes me so happy. Your videos are the reason why I started braiding my own hair and others as well ❤️❤️. Your one of the few RUclipsrs keeping me sane rn
I commend you and your friends for having a place for others to talk about what their going through. There aren't many places to do that and students are going through a lot with the adjustment, but great job and talk are amazing 🙌🏾
I’m really glad that you showed us kinda how to do it cause I want to learn how to do box braids for my cousin. She lives in an area where not too many people know how to do box braids
Lol it's funny how people are saying they wouldn't have the patience for these, when these are considered medium sized braids in Nigeria. Granted, you usually have multiple hairdressers doing the braids, so everything takes less than 3 hours. You did an amazing job xx
As a 34 year old white chick, lemme say your patience crazy! I could have never done that, I hate even setting my hair in foam rollers for a night (I wear my hair in a 50s pin up retro way where I wet set it on wash nights). These micro braids look absolutely gorgeous on you! I hope you get to post more videos during this rough time, you are so sweet and very informative. Much love!
Shout out to you for creating the space for teens to contact y’all to talk. Your braids look awesome. I used to do mine every summer. My son died and I haven’t done them in three years. I may do them this summer. Kudos to you. Keep up the great work. Blessings!!!
You just popped into my recommendations. Decided to tune in bc I need some inspirational ideas for the knotless braids I plan on doing on my hair and I’m feeling the vibe. Also your hella beautiful. Your gap adds to your beauty sis💁🏽♀️👸🏽.
I’ve been braiding for almost 40 yrs now. I love it still. It’s my artwork. You did a great job. Very neat. I’ve only been doing my own for a few yrs b/c I’m notorious for long tiny braids. Not great at parting my own but I go for perfection on my clients. Beautiful braids young lady.
I love braids.. I learned quick when my daughter started getting older and putting knockers and pigtails was a no-go lol. These are beautiful!! I want to do mine like this now but I just don't have the time or patience 😂😂 hands off to you .. they are neat and very professional looking!! And look at $$ you saved.. a braider would have charged bout 400.. and a stylist even more!! If that ain't motivation🤣🤣. Great job beautiful, ❤️
I remember I did this once and I almost had a couple breakdowns because I was no where near done 😭 im happy I can do my own hair tho. But ill still get knotless professionally done
You’re a trooper. I did box braids for myself one time like 5 years ago and I’ll never do it even cause even that took me 3 days. Nowadays I’ll just pay somebody else to do it and be done, but I get why people would rather do their own
I appreciate you for doing the chat I was thinking of something like this is very much needed for black women and young black girls. You are awesome for this.
I tip my hat to you young lady you did an amazing job on yourself I can imagine what you could do for someone else doesn’t have to be micros maybe she should try it’s definitely money to be made in this line of work and you are your own boss you get to pick and choose the days and times of availability

I wouldn’t have the patience to take it out, it’s cute tho✨
take them out... i don’t have the patience to put them in!!
Taking it out is so easy lol you just cut it to your hair length, braiding it is hard because you have to braid it down fully
Those are my thoughts exactly!! I have too much damn hair too!!
Same
who do you do that omg
*i need to learn how to do my own braids ASAP*
Same sis
same but I can’t even do basic corn rolls 😭

I yeah that’s so sweet
Imagine taking that down yo.😭😭😭😭
Probably take a few days but aye works out during this Quarantine 🤷🏾♀️
It's not that hard if you cut them as short possible, when you do that it takes a few hours
I would pay somebody
Chy Goody only takes a few hours lol
The take down process doesn’t take that long
I said I would neverrrr do micro braids but you just made me want some 😭
Sameeee bruh but I just can’t do it 😭

whats your hair type?
It takes a strong woman to sit there for that long and do micro braids ON HERSELF.. 💯 struggle

K'lah Dyer im sure you could get some business if you have time! The girls always want braiders lol 💓
Honestly I can do my own head about waist-length in 5 hours but that's cuz I've been doing it over 23 years
I'm 36 and been doing mine and a few others since high school. No matter the size, it still takes me forever esp on my own head. Box braids big and small and micro kinky twists- that's usually what I do on myself.

I really love the braids 😍😍
Its goin be a struggle taking those braids off
Right
Won't be as bad as putting it in, she could cut off most of the braids and take it off from there, thank God
It wouldn't be that bad because she could chop a huge amount off.
