While acknowledging that cartoons from the 20s to the 50s may contain edgy and racist elements, the approach should be one of preservation rather than censorship.
The realm of anime presents its own unique considerations, warranting a nuanced strategy. Copyright complexities add an additional layer of challenge, particularly for older cartoons like the original Felix the Cat shorts or Betty Boop, which have not seen full DVD releases but only compilations. A more constructive solution would involve the release of complete, uncensored, and unedited box sets, appropriately rated for Teen (T) or Mature (M) audiences. This approach ensures a more authentic representation of the content while respecting its historical context.
Despite the challenges, your video presentation was thoughtfully executed, and I am inclined to subscribe. Your attention to detail and insightful commentary on the intricacies of content curation in the streaming era is commendable.
I couldn't agree more on the preservation piece, which is extremely important. Older animation in its original form is very difficult to obtain. I can appreciate streaming but I'm a physical media collector for the most part. I think it's great that I can pull up most things I enjoyed in regards to wrestling with a push of a button and a few shows that are currently running but nothing truly beats a great piece of physical media.
