You can improve the content by noting that there are 3 ways of doing business on Uber. 1. Rent- where you own the car and employ a driver. 2. Owner- driver where you own the car and drive it yourself 3. Rent to buy where you own a car but the driver pays you for a set term. This is more of a Loan option. Your profit will differ depending on the option you take. The best option is no.2 and 3. Also take note of the following: 1.Depreciation should be factored in as an expense otherwise you will no be able to replace your vehicle 2. Toyota vehicles is the only brand which can endure the workload with minimum wear and tear. 3. Dont buy a vehicle for a price more than R120k. This figure gives you a return on investment of about 5yrs. 4. Insurance is a critical component of this business 5. Consider that your vehicle might be idle when you're changing drivers. Sometimes you are idle for 1 month.
you're God send, its been on my mind for a while. But how much do you make on a bad month and good month. I tried motorcycle for Mr D but the risk is higher due to undocumented drivers who might disappear with the bike.
I tried renting out my car back in 2020 and unfortunately got my finger burned badly in the process. I tried 2 different drivers and everytime it came to the point of paying me, I always received a lot of excuses, I ended up taking my car back because I was always on the loosing side. My advice is don't ever think you will be investing in this, you will be dealing with a very complex thing called a human being.
Wow! It's funny that I came across this video because I've started writing a book on small businesses/side hustles that people can do in this season of high employment. Uber/Bolt, hairdressing, nail etc. businesses are some of those I'm covering. I'm getting most of my info from the internet, personal experiences and from friends and family. I'll also be conducting interviews with people in those lines of business to get inside info. Ofcourse I will give credit to my sources and will give credit to your channel as well for this info
@@marthamkhize768 yes. I've just finished setting up my new business after giving up on another one. I'd like to get the book or attend the launch. keep me posted on developments.
@justinseyisi1527 I'm still busy writing, there are so many wonderful opportunities in SA. And people have been willing to share their experiences on these businesses. I'll let you know when I launch it and where it can be found.
Uber wants commercial vehicle insurance with passenger liability coverage. Your car insurance won’t cover you if you use the car for ehailing, especially if you’re hijacked for instance they will look at trip logs, driving around all day in random areas they’ll see that the car isn’t being driven for personal use.
As a former driver, 2000 to 2300 is too much for uber/bolt go. I left that industry about 2years ago and we as drivers were already struggling...now it's worse. But go on buy those cars and charge that amount and see if you will make profit for at least 6months straight. Drivers will deal with you before you even finish paying off the car
You need a permit from the department of transport. It will set you back R300, but you will probably wait for up to a year before you hear from them. There is a lot of violence in the taxi business. Keep that in mind, too.
Keep it coming MISS K... thanks for the informative video, I've done the exact same research as you over the past few months concerning this topic and your info is spot on...
Hi Nokuhle, please cover renting a scooter for deliveries like UberEats, Mr D, Dash, etc. Is it profitable or saturated? Also, rental income as a side hustle and lastly food stalls at food markets
Hello, most insurance companies take e-hailing as a business so your business comprehensive insurance you will be lucky to get below R2800. Reason being, the cover is not only for the vehicle but also for passanger liability of which Uber needs it to be R2.5 Million.
Hi Nokuhle, I happened to HAVE been involved in Uber business in the early days around 2012-2015 in South Africa in capacities both as an owner as well as a driver to test the system for myself. My final decision was that Uber was and still is a great service and that time then it was still also offering "world class" service such as offering mints and cold bottled water for an example as requirements in both X and Black class. As a business though, I concluded that Uber was NOT a sustainable and profitable business considering the upfront costs and the high risk nature of the business. Uber management was and apparently is still dictatorial and aloof to the requirements of owners and drivers. That's my brief personal experience and opinion but I appreciate the service, what ever is left of it, nonetheless. Uber fills a void in the market certainly and thanks to all the owners for their public donations in the form of personal vehicles.
Great, comprehensive video. One question/concern I do have is whether we can really call the money you make per month "profit", since you are technically still in the red until you have paid off the car (assuming you bought it for the Uber business). You will only really start earning profit after you have fully paid off the cost of the car which will be after 2 or 3 years.
Hey Nokuhle, please make a Video about the insurances companies that cover Uber/Bolt. I'm struggling to find an insurance for my vehicle. I have all the documents, my vehicle is 2024 Kia Pegas Ex in case you want to use it as an example on your video.
How much are you renting the pegas? 2 years ago I was renting a pegas for 10k per month, it was too high I can never do it again..the owner was lucky I never scratched his car and never missed payment for four months. After I gave him back his car, he called me 3 weeks later asking me to comeback for 8k per month coz he couldn't find a better driver. I refused..this business is not for those who rent cars honestly
Meter operating licence is mandatory but Government officials make it impossible to get so you’ll always get the temporary one. To get the official certificate you need to be “connected”😔

I hope you get more information from people in it 🙏🏽but other comments have mentioned that it’s best when the car isn’t financed / is fully paid off because it has less pressure on the owner.
Your Information is wrong these no money in ehailling especially in RSA, however as an owner yes you can make some money but that if you fully own the cars and goes for the driver too, not to mention accidents driver often not his problem your reliable for car as the owner to your driver can just ran away and you lose your, other than that you just driving for fun all the money goes back to expense. Worse in this ehailling business the company uber and bolt don't care about the drivers at all nor the owner, driver can get killed no one will ever know which rider did it bit if a driver misbehave they quick to react and remove him but never do they put measure to make sure drivers are safe too. So people don't put your money in ehailling
