Cade might work with a QB Whisperer this off-season. He needs it. Some Clemson fans say not getting sll the starts after game 4 last season stymied his development. I disagree.

cade is physically very talented and mentally wants to win. these are good traits. but he seems to struggle with seeing open receivers and getting rid of the ball in good time. he doesnt seem to really feel the rush well, and often just throws up a ball that should just be held onto or thrown away.

Pretty dead on assessment in my opinion. It seems like Clemson lacks the personnel to truly develop a qb, too. Even Trevor Lawrence didn't really seem to improve over the years. Won the Natty in his first year and then just seemed to be the same player for his next two. His current coach at Jacksonville even commented that Trevor has a ton of raw talent but very little development/ football knowledge. Dabo needs to start hiring people with expertise rather than just good people with a history at Clemson.

Cade does not have the physical ability-just being honest; he lacks arm strength, he lacks the ability to break arm tackles. He struggles with finding open receivers because he has trouble reading coverage-you can hear it in any of his press interviews or lack there of...he does not talk football...as much as DJ was ridiculed, DJ could dissect plays...give you a play-by-play of pre-snap coverage then what the secondary shifted to post snap...and why he did not release the ball...the WR must make route adjustment post snap as well...Cade just talks...I like playing with my brothers---he does not talk football--as far as seeing receivers...he sees the check down but holds the ball trying to throw down field into triple coverage...by the time he gives up on the down field throw either the protection breaks down or the check down is covered...I am not bashing on the kid...but someone has to tell him the truth concerning his development..he makes the same mistakes in the Duke game in the Kentucky game... yes Riley is the QB coach...but the QB has to do quite a bit on their own...maybe using some of that NIL to bring in a private trainer not limited by NCAA rule of how much time a coach can be in contact with players....when Cade is not in class he need to be throwing to any of the receivers who will come and catch...they need to sit and watch the same film and discuss what they see in coverages and how to communicate to each other what they are seeing to me Cade has the deer in headlights syndrome...and I do not expect him to be a Heisman candidate but at minimal...not make the same technical mistakes every game

@@sophecles2b While I can agree with most of that, I think the coaches have to take a lot of the blame. First off, they recruited the kid, so if he was never going to be good, then they should've known enough to realize that. Second, everything you said seems like it could be easily fixed (except arm strength) if a coach would take the time to explain it and test out solutions in practice. Why can't we have an offensive coordinator AND a QB coach that has experience developing talented QBs? Why does Dabo seem to insist on having the OC and QB coach be the same person? Maybe Riley has to spend too much time doing OC stuff and doesn't have enough time for the one on one attention that Cade seems to need. IDK. It just seems strange that we have all this talent on the roster, but when you watch them play it seems like every play is a struggle. Even the good plays almost feel lucky or only a result of bad defense. It's been a few years since it felt like our offense imposed their will on defenses rather than just getting by.

@@tyhow66 Cade was not recruited to be a #1...DJ was the #1...Cade was recruited to be the #2 but the scheme broke-down--I get Kelly Bryant vibes from Cade...even Hunter Johnson...Dj would still be #1 if the fans had not chased him away... and Dj Lagway would be committing and taking the #1...Dj, Trevor, Deshaun all could come to the mic and talk football...explain the coverage and how the defense schemed them... Cade has not done this yet...he can't read defense...not saying it's bad...as Travis from FSU and Spencer as USC could not read defenses either...but they could use their legs to get out of trouble...Cade tries to escape and get's pulled down with a hand tackle....I want him to get better but I just don't see it

Good observation on Klubnik and Stellato. Stellato was open on long plays, multiple TDs plays this season and Cade didn’t throw the ball to him. Not sure if staff is advising him not to throw down field or not sure what the diconnect is but both of their numbers could of been a lot better and the offense would have scored more points.

Showed sum GUTS in the 4th quarter against Kentucky. He's not a great rusher, but fast enough to get away. Coach Luke gonna build up the OL. Couple big WRs coming in. Let him sling it.

Cade his handling the team back. Film shows alot of times he doesnt scan the field he dont have a good feel for the pressure in the pocket he makes bad decisions and to top it off his jumpy. Either he going to have to make a supreme jump in development this off season or we going to need to develop another guy and cade get injured

I'd be ok with Cade leaving in the portal so Clemson can get a more reliable QB

  • @timkinley1779

Cade can fill up a stat line and look bad doing it. Hard to build a comfort level with the WRs when they're consistently hurt and don't practice all week. Same with the play calling for repetition when the WRs are in the training room all week.

Jason do we have a QB on order for 2024 class, please tell me we do and has there been any development of Chris Vizzna? Thanks...

I'm a casual Clemson fan, no ties to the school but I like watching Clemson. Sadly, I don't think he's going to live up to expectations.

Dabo is always careful about what he says into a mic about his players. The fact that he explicitly said he has discussed areas Cade needs to improve in the off season suggests to me it's not just a casual thing. I seem to remember he implied Riley was in on that too, but that my just be my impression at the time. With NIL I keep saying it - there's no good reason for Cade to NOT find and buy time with 1 or more good QB coaches. He needs some support in both football IQ at the QB position, to whatever extent possible, and also long ball mechanics and strength.

He most certainly did. Anybody can see it and if they can't, they're blind. He's got a lot of improvement left to make though.

If you review film (which I have for almost every single Clemson game) you come to the unfortunate conclusion that Cade has made little progress throughout the season. Cade also is a terrible runner and can rarely escape to move the chains. He ranked 80th in qbr this year. He ranked top 6 in fumbles lost this year. None of the other top ten programs would've put up with such poor performance from their starting qb. Jalen Milroe was benched for far less. Even if Cade shoots up the ranking to 40th in qbr, we will be struggling to get to 10 wins again.

Dabo is too controlling with his QBs. DJ regressed badly there at Clemson and now Cade is doing the same thing. Deshaun and Trevor were blessed to have guys like Mike Williams, Hunter Renfrew, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Amari Rogers, and RB Travis Etienne to help them disguise Dabo's terrible philosophy BUT now he's getting exposed badly. Cade better run out of there FAST! Next season, Cade will have the same results if not worse.
