heck there are even videokes in malls where you drop a coin so you can sing for every passerby to hear(like you would in coin-operated arcade game). Though, nowadays, they're usually in the amusement area, not haphazardly placed along hallways or even in the middle of the mall's atrium. Not everyone can sing well(I'm among those who can't), there's bound to be one bad singer in every group of friends, but most people do sing and don't mind singing in public. It's annoying actually, since many are inconsiderate enough to sing with videokes in full volume into the wee hours of the morning(there's even a law forbidding such activity after 10 p.m., but enforcement is inconsistent).

normal people. here in Philippines doesn't care if youre out of tune as long as you enjoy singing its fun to hear..justnever ever use autotune..we hate it :)
I won't say I'm that good at singing, but in my group of friends (we are 4), we all sing HAHAHA it's part of our bonding. I think the main reason why Filipinos are well known to be good singers is because we tend to love it, plus practice. We got used to idea to sing regardless if you're in tune or not because somehow you'd get there lol
Keep watching videos like this and I realized that for us Filipinos, Karaoke is a lifestyle and a mindset. You don't need to have a Karaoke booth to do Karaoke. Just break out in song and enjoy the moment jamming with people and it's more fun than renting out Karaoke booths or machines! I remember the days when I go to batch or company parties and we're in for a long ride, people always ALWAYS start singing and everybody is suddenly joining in and jamming along. Wifi? Nah. This is definitely more fun!
I wouldnt go as far as saying that all Filipinos can sing. In my group of friends, maybe 90% enjoys singing, 40% is good at it and 10% out of the 40% can really compete.
It’s normal day for pinoys to do karaoke in public, at home, mics or no mic, we grab the guitar and jam. It’s a way of bonding with our friends ands family. Shed some built up emotions and have some fun. With and without alcohol. Just good vibes. Sometimes I come home from work and be home alone then stick on karaoke, my fam would normally join when they get home.
There are always normal Filipino that can sing very well.. in my group of friends, we have one that can sing great. she is not a professional singer though.
Philippines is called “the land of singers” for a reason and this is the exact reason why. Filipinos can sing anytime anywhere, especially on gatherings on a normal day-to-day basis. Singing is like breathing for Filipinos.
As the title says regular people, yes they are. They're just regular people singing inside the food resto and enjoying the time together through music. Mostly it's in the Filipino's DNA, singing is like our daily medicine to lighten our mood depending on the situation. However, it doesn't matter if you're hitting the note or not as long as you enjoy the music, that's what matters most. Also, if you are not hitting the note and you keep on singing as if you are already practicing your vocals, not noticing you are getting better and better. To think we didn't enroll ourselves or have a proper schooling for music to sing better. In short, singing is part of all Filipino's culture. Our music and culture are heavily influenced by our colonizers too like Spain for 333 years and American more or less around 40 years. So diversity in music and culture that makes Filipinos of today.

It's just normal people here even kids do that and school when we have snack and lunch time we do that with the bitbox and rap ..mostly are friends and siblings do that kind of singing we sang our fav song
It's normal for us to sing. Every household has a karaoke machine. Singing is just a part of our daily lives. When we were toddlers, we were taught how to sing. When you go to the Philippines, wherever you go, you can see or find very good singers! 🔥🇵🇭🎤
With so many ordinary Filipino folks with no formal training but can sing like pros, being actually a professional in Philippines requires a vocal standards. Autotune and lip syncing will be a suicide (although, most tolerate if foreign acts do these). The audience here is also very picky in giving standing ovations. Nevertheless, everyone is appreciative to music and singing is part of everyday life.
Go here in the Philippines, look for some streets or residential sites and you will see filipino families who is doing some karaoke every sunday or if there's an occation or even without . So normal
[1st vid] I think that is a game called pass the mic, wherein the first singer stops at the end of the stanza and then points to the next one who they like to sing next & should connect the song (or tuned alike) to continue the challenge. That's normal days in the Philippines especially younger ones.

Filipinos are good at singing. Most of the population probably sings well. Hehe. We like get-togethers and on every occasion, there is always a karaoke machine. Sometimes I find my friends and I spontaneously singing to a song together once we hear it. It's normal to see people singing here, like in the video. With or without karaoke.
Yeah, this is normal. You see this all the time in the Philippines. We are so inured to good singing and so used to breaking out into song that our singing stars literally have to be a cut above everyone else or they are never going to make it. We're very sensitive to bad singing. People have literally DIED for singing badly in this country. If you are an idol and you sing badly, you had better be beautiful. I am not joking. It's a double-edged sword, our singing culture.
The reality here is The Philippines standard when it's comes to singing is so High even if you can sing like those people in the video theres a low chance of you being a singer here as the competition is really hard. Some of them join TV shows but did not won reason why there is so many talented singers here but not doing it professionally I can even sing "Kim kyung ho forbidden love" songs but I am not a professional singer here in my country.
In a classroom its impossible not to find someone who can sing well. There could be 1-3 on average. (But I do not know if that is unusual with other countries)
When my friends and I get together, we are always like that, except that I am the only one that doesn’t sing. Hahahaha. My part is to take their videos. I am just a proud friend. Hahahahahaha
I think the people in group are music instructors or something, cause regular people in singing karaoke (norebang) are not as fine tuned as them or maybe they are a group of local band or a group of event singers i guess.

This also the reason why autotune or over fixing of voice in a song feels so illegal in the Philippines. You really have to show natural talents only.
as a Filipino I'm proud that they are surprised. Singing is part of our daily lives here in The Philippines so as early as childhood we can sing.
