I'm just reading the introduction of this book. I'm 30 just starting out and I feel so understood. Your paintings are beautiful, full of atmosphere and I hope to be as good as you some day. Greetings from Germany!
Dunno if you guys cares but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
It's comforting to know that things don't work our well for you either!! SO good to know...Thanks and I REALLY love your videos and your method of teaching, not to mention your art!! Thank you. In West Virginia, USA here. Keep up the good work.
I've read your info on the split primary palette. The way you wrote it made it clear to me. I've put my own version into use and it has worked on everything from landscapes to black dogs and brightly colored chickens. Thank you very much for that information. I can surely recommend anyone who hasn't read it to do so if they are not clear in how it works. I have added paynes gray to my version. I think I'll add a couple of convenience colors too. Cerulean blue for sure. Thanks again.
Love it. Loose but enough detail. Colors conducive to rest, peacefulness, contemplation...beautiful. I've been trying to loosen up but achieving nothing except messes. Your work is showing me how I can continue to paint slowly but achieve a loose painting. Another artist I follow is learning to do the same thing and videoing his results. You da man! I've binge watched all your vids...several times and now I'm going to treat myself to a book. Thank you very much. Chuck
Thank you Chuck but please don't worry too much about making a mess. I always say watercolour is making a mess for the first half and trying to fix it in the second half
I love your art. Your pantings are just beautiful. Thank 's for your detailed explanations. You teach us how to avoid some mistakes in watercolour and that is very important. Thank you and keep show us your talent.
I really enjoyed watching and listening to your tutorial. This was an excellent tutorial, and I learned a lot. I learned more with you because you explained how to do things such as how to eliminate hard lines, etc. I ordered your book as well. I am from the USA. Thank you. I enjoyed your tutorial very much.
Ilove your explaining great painting so good to listen, learn and watch . Gramame you will finish a great painting and we will have learned a lot thanks Grahame isobel.
I’m working my way through your Projects book now Grahame - it is really very helpful and giving me as a beginner a great sense of confidence and progress. I surprised myself (especially exercise 2)!
Thanks Grahame I appreciate your talking through the painting, takes me back to the classroom. and you're wonderful demons. I just loved every minute of your painting, you're trees. I really love Grahame, isobel.
I know I have thanked you for turning me on to the twin primary system but it's something that I can't thank you enough for. Its great to be able to get the bright and dull secondaries and tertiaries with just a few colors. In that handout available on your website you showed how important color temperature is. Watching a master use it is a real trip. I watch and rewatch and catch something I missed last time. Thank you VERY much. One final question. Do you use the medium strength cad yellow and red or the darkest? Looks like the medium hues...whatever I like the hues you use. Just dark enough.
@@PaintingWatercolour can you please tell what kind of handy sponge that is? beacause most of the sponges do not soak water very well i found...thanks a lot.
It's a high absorbancy sponge: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-Cleaning-Sponges-Highly-Absorbent-Ultra-Soft-for-Home-Car-Windows-FloorsDesks/133592262527?hash=item1f1ab8277f:g:IJ8AAOSwzNFeBB4k
Добрый день,я из России.Мне очень нравятся ваши работы,к сожалению увидеть вашу книгу я не могу,но все равно с большим удовольствием смотрю ваши акварели.Большое вам спасибо.
Hi Grahame. I recently bought your book Watercolor Landscapes mentioned in this excellent vid. In it you show a square palette that has 12 Wells and opens up to provide 3 surfaces on which to mix. Can you tell me the manufacturer of that palette and perhaps where to buy one? I'm in the UK and struggling to find a palette that I feel would be suitable. Thanks 😊
Hi Doug, I have emailed you, but for others, I designed and made that palette myself but it is now being made to my design by an excellent brassworker in Bulgaria: lapetitepalette.com/square.html. These brass palettes are handmade and not cheap but if you are looking for something more modest the Cloverleaf palette is pretty good as is the Liz Deakin Palette. If you Google these, there are plenty of sellers
Hi Catherine I always use paper from St. Cuthbert's Mill, and in this case it is Millford 140lb. That may not be available in Canada so if not go for a decent watercolour paper, maybe something like 400 series Strathmore?
Thank you for replying. I found when I was using your paper after it was wet it started to pile ( rough little pieces of wet paper). Hope I explained that right. Anyway I took the giant step and purchased Arches watercolor 100%cotton paper, love it and can't believe how much my painting have improved. Many one day I will meet you when I am visiting my sister in northern Ireland.
I assume that was the paper in the book Catherine? I'm afraid there have been reports about it being less than perfect and you can certainly be sure that Arches will be a much better paper in any case. I did try the paper in an early production run of the book and it seemed fine to me but obviously quality has slipped somewhere.
Thank you for your enquiry. I designed and made the palette myself but it is now produced by my friend Peter who is an expert brassworker: lapetitepalette.com/grahamebooth.html.
When I need a dark version of any colour, I use burnt sienna and ultramarine. This mixes as a strong dark and when this is added to more or less any colour, it will read as a dark version of that colour. It sounds strange but our brains don't expect to see much colour in darks.
@@PaintingWatercolour Thank you. I learn so much from your videos. I've watched all I can get me mitts on several times and always see something I missed. I never thought to try it with other colors but I'll remember to use the blue/brown mix to darken other colors too. Thank you.
Grahame Booth Thank you Grahame. I love your teaching style. It’s so helpful & I’m looking forward to more. I’m working my way through Street Scenes & looking forward to your new book.
Just love your info and the way you deliver is perfection! I’m a huge fan and watch all your vids now and I’m sorry to say that your brogue is just mad! A little distracting in all the best ways🙏🏻🥇👍🏻
I was disappointed about the book. Just bought it, because it was so highly recommended. But - no source photos. I like to learn from experts, but there should be some room for our own creativity challenge. In this book the scenes are even pre-drawn...
Rebecca again. To paint is good but you are a gifted tutor who knows how to explain his work in such an appealing way. Good on you Graham.
Love your tutorials. If I was your grandchild I would sit next to you, and just watch and learn. 😊🙏🏻

Thank you Khara. My sword line is a quarter-inch series 770.

Hi from Canada.

Thank you for your enquiry. I designed and made the palette myself but it is now produced by my friend Peter who is an expert brassworker: lapetitepalette.com/grahamebooth.html.
When you began mixing paint for the top of the hedge how did you get green from burnt sienna and ultramarine?
When I need a dark version of any colour, I use burnt sienna and ultramarine. This mixes as a strong dark and when this is added to more or less any colour, it will read as a dark version of that colour. It sounds strange but our brains don't expect to see much colour in darks.

mr Graham how i obtain which you are showing sketch book for me.
Hi Sunil. It would depend on where you live but the book will be available on Amazon
Who what brand makes a sword liner
Hi Elizabeth. Rosemary and Co in England Series 770 1/4". They ship worldwide.
Great tutorial. What kind of paper did you use?
Thanks Gail. I used Millford NOT, 140lb from St. Cuthbert's Mill in England
Did you stretch the paper?
No Genny. I find that there is enough panic without adding to it by carefully stretching the sheet, making the blank paper even more intimidating
Grahame Booth Thank you Grahame. I love your teaching style. It’s so helpful & I’m looking forward to more. I’m working my way through Street Scenes & looking forward to your new book.
