So, I gave you an easy and healthy buckwheat recipe as an example of ultimate survival Russian style when you don't have money. Enjoy!

Enjoyed watching you and the recipe - I've been vegetarian for 35 years but I eat a lot of buckwheat and this easily adapts to use with vegetables rather than meat. Life's getting harder for all of us - hang in there.

I'm so happy that you're still posting and so sorry for what Russian citizens are having to endure through NO fault of their own. It makes me very sad to see the lovely people I've been following experience the shortages and the massive lines (as at Ikea on the day it closed all 17 of its stores) at stores that are closing up shop. Before I watched this video I was watching another where a Russian family was eating at McDonald's for possibly the last time...and the husband loves McDonald's so much (the wife, not so much but neither do I). BUT....McDonald's has promised to keep paying it's 65,000 employees in Russia even when it closes its stores. It's the only fair thing to do, all companies should do this...why make people suffer for things they had no part in? I am praying for the citizens of all countries involved, they are the innocent ones and yet suffer the most. It's heartbreaking. Much love from Florida, USA...your teacups are very beautiful.

Is actually healthier if the Mcdonalds franchises all stay closed.
McDonald's should stop paying their employees...as little as the ruble is worth...paying these people allows Putin to continue to stay in power...

In America it's called Buckwheat Groats. I think it's called "groats" because it's a seed that was toasted and its hull or outer covering removed. I tried it cooked with apples, cinnamon and brown sugar with a little butter on top. It was very good!

I love buckwheat. We grew up eating it in Canada and my mother put it in everything. At the time we weren’t so crazy about it but it’s comfort food to me now. You’re version is much fancier than what we were used to and I will make it and call it Ksenia’s Kasha.

Very few people buy buckwheat in the US. If you asked people about it not many would know what it is, and it's hard to find in the stores. I buy pounds and pounds of beans, rice, flour, sugar, dried eggs, pastas, sauces and canned meats, vegetables and fruits just un case. And powdered milk. In the summer I buy cheap vegetables and dehydrate them, they keep for years. Foraging during seasons for wild apples, fruits, herbs, flowers, mushrooms help.

I have never seen green buckwheat in the US. I grew up eating toasted buckwheat.

Yes, that will also be very tasty. But as far as I know buckwheat is more healthy then rice.

I think you can use pepper, paprika, cumin or spices for chicken.

We will also be eating grains. Our economy is also affected by these sanctions. Mr P has put the World in a dreadful place. Ukrainians suffering dreadfully. Rest of Europe hit with high oil prices. There will certainly be no winners in this War.

Food and gas prices in the USA are sky rocketing, too! Diesel has gone from $3.79 per gallon to over $5.20 per gallon. There is no valid reason for the increase! Buckwheat is actually very good for diabetes. It helps lower blood sugar. Generally whole grains are a better choice for us diabetics.
