On the hook: Unexpected charges, little recourse for Illinois tow customers

- Illinois’ largely unregulated towing industry is leaving some customers angry and upset after they were left on the hook for unexpected bills.
This sounds like the racket that Betty Loren Maltese and her husband's towing company were running in Cicero, IL.
Her buddy works there.
I filed two complaints against Priority Wrecker AKA Johnny's towing. The Illinois Commerce Commission will not investigate. They only handle relocates, repos. I was told by the Illinois Commerce Commission police officer investigating both of my complaints that they do not have jurisdiction on roadside assistance disputes.
He sent his attorney out there to joke around. Good job attorney Wilson.
Honk and Agero should be heavily investigated and their terms and conditions should be challenged in court national. These two companies make claims that they are the customer’s insurance company when they are not and lie to the customers and the providers just to trick the providers into showing up on scene to do the work. These companies tell the customers to pay with a credit card before they call the providers and pocket the money. they then send a provider to do the work with the promise to pay later and then they reject the invoice or worse delete it and say no we won’t pay you for the work.
The same thing happened to me what green machine in Naperville /Plainfield. They refused to pay for the damages at the vehicle talk about bad customer service as well. After talking with the owner he was rude and unprofessional horrible experience

check the terms and conditions of Agero the “insurance company” that states a service provider’s damage forms are not acceptable and the liability is on them not Agero
But it's sad because most companies with multiple trucks do this and the state and city isn't aware

Jonathan Maye now operates out of Tennessee. He doesn't pay POs to companies who offer services to his company to add insult to injury. The fact criminals like scam people and other businesses with no legal recourse is appalling. If someone steals your wallet they to jail. If someone steals your vehicle, equipment, etc. Nothing can be done.

I'm a tow truck driver and I have been for years and this is bs most company owners do this a the poor driver's don't make any money they struggle to pay bills and owners do this I work for a company that makes us pay for fuel on every call and this is the reason I want to start my own company because I would not kick any body down when they are already down
Simple. First two violations increasing fines, third time, tow the tow truck, charge the retail value of the truck to get it back.
Priority towing used to be johnnies towing. Those punks got shut down because they were ripping people off and now they doing the same crap. They shouldn't be surprised if their buildings or trucks start going up in flames
we as providers are powerless to the motor clubs. go after Agero and Honk and see the real companies that are stealing the money from providers
