I met these two at the pub/hotel I work at near where these cars are kept last year and bumped into them again this year!! We sat and spoke about the cars for ages, LOVED this M5. So glad to see them on here
I live in the UK, and to my own surprise, I've actually seen quite a few of these myself just parked randomly next to peoples homes, and they've had the British Right hand side steering wheel. I've asked one of the guys when did he bought it, this man was in his 60+, and he said he bought it brand new 30+ years ago and it still rocks, beautiful original purple color with a mechanical gear box :)
I remember when I was younger there was a e34 m5 touring in black with throwing stars for sale outside a house I walked past on my way to school, they wanted £2000 for it. Wish I was older and knew what they were back then. What a car
2000? Talk about a deal if it was complete and running... Even if it wasnt that was quite cheap. These were collectors cars since released, even if they werent always highly valued.
@@GoldenCroc iirc the 2000 price tag looked justified, it was very far from being a good example. This must have been back in 2002/4 period. I wonder if its still kicking around or was broken for parts
What a cool wagon! I didn't know there was an estate in this generation (probably because of my age) but it is absolutely awesome. Proves that you don't need 1 million horsepower to have a good time, great emotion.
@@lollypop9580 Yep, they are similar in production numbers. Though I think the E61 was more "well publicised" being well and truly in the internet age and and all that, so more well known for that reason.
I own two E34 sedans with the M20 engine, also found in the E30s. Got manual everything on the one I dailied to and from my uni for 2 years, after a full service as it had stood 10 years. It started ever single time, and never let me down, BMW really knew how to make solid cars back then, or maybe they just stopped wanting to. Either way, great cars!
What a gem of a car, pretty much a time capsule car. Btw, When you don't remember the torque of a naturally aspirated engine, just multiply the displacement in liters by 100 and you will have the rough amount in NM.
What an awesome fan, living in Singapore, bringing a LHD M6 Touring from the UK to the Ring, along with a sexy classic Alfa GTV as well - this is a genuine car nut and car lover. Great video!
Big (and thin) steering wheels, I really love and miss them. Very comfortable for cruising. Weird every car today has quite small and thick ones. Like everyone goes everyday on the racetrack while most can't even drive properly at normal roads😂
Sweet! And that Alfa is gonna be really special. I've owned loads of "modern" Alfa's (156GTA,166 3.0, 159 with the crappy 3.2 GM block, 159 1750TBI ti wagon wonderful car).
I grew up with my dad and Mom driving and also working on several 85-94 3 series DD's. Simple, yet so much fun, beautiful cars too. This drive brought back some great memories! God bless and stay safe...
Two of my dream cars! Although at this point I probably can't fit in the Alfa, if I ever could, but I'm eager to see you drive it. We never got any M5 Tourings in the USA but these days we can legally import them.
Bought my dream car (a non touring E34 M5) in 2021 and I feel the same way every time I drive it. Beautiful example! Also, from what I've read the top vent on the dash is actually a fresh air intake that doesn't use the compressor, so that you can run it like this, get some cool air flow, and not worry about losing power to the compressor or aero to open windows.
Hi Misha, nice to see you enjoy the e34 M5 and sad to hear that your M5 burnt out. Since I'm very fit in terms of the e34 because I've owned and still own a few (currently 7 😂), I would like to correct you on a few details ypu mentioned at 13:50. There never was a "Nurbürgring Edition", although it has become very infamous over the last decades. What you mean is the option S782 called Nürburgring Fahrwerkspaket, that was available for all M5s from the introduction of the S38B38 with 5speed gearbox til the introduction of the 6 speed version, meaning from 12/1991 to 5/1994. S782 consisted of wider tires in the rear, Servotronic, a Program-switch for the EDC, thicker rollbars, etc. S782 was discontinued after the introduction of the 6 speed M5 in 6/94 as the wheels became 18" Styling 37, Servotronic became standard equipment as well as the EDC-switch. Therefore the M5 in the video could not technically be the "Nürburgring Edition" anyway😊 Actually you were standing next to my M5 clone in your episode called "Poor Polo" a few years back if you remember. You can take it for a spin this October before I throw the M20B25 out for a M52B28.... 😎
90s, NA, what more do we need to know? This was introduced the same year as mine btw.; E34 M5 Touring, Corrado VR6 both came out in '92. Good year, obviously :P
Dream car for me, I have an e34 525i touring which I love but this is the dream car. The lunge of the rev counter needle from 5k round to 7k. Just seems like it keep revving. But like a K 20, you just don’t where it’ll stop revving.
Oh man, the M5 E34 is my dream car. Not the wagon version but its still amazing to watch. If you can find an original M5 E34 to lap ib the ring that'd be the best video so far.
Cool car! Strange that most people skips to intro and specs, I always watch those love to see which mods the cars have and sometimes not watch the full lap. Also miss those walk around videos during TFs, but I guess onboards are the most watched.
I always liked these older BMWs , simple and reliable . I don't think the new ones live up to the same criteria . A late 80s M3 , would be one of the only BMWs I would want .
The old cars may not be as fast as some of the new rocket ships, but the psychological and emotional horsepower that you gain from a more mechanical experience makes up for a lot.
And this is what matter and is sadly lost. All the NVH bs design, and artificial feeling steering kill all the sensations. Add in top of that high seating positions its even more disconnected and meh.
Wagons are just on another level of entertainment. Btw, that Alfa next to the Touring… looking forward to that one. What a nice guy, to offer you to drive it.
Misha, i like to see you easy driving "racing" on max 80% (between steeringwheel and driver seat) like this! Respect to the car-owner, too😉🏁 Cheers rotexbmwdrift
E34 one of the best BMW model for me, I currently have one but 525 TDS for dailydriving. My dream E34 is the Alpina B10 Bi-Turbo ! If someone have one to bring it to Misha !?
Had a fully loaded Daytona violet black interior -92 M5Touring, sold it for 5500 € that was some 20 years ago, should have kept that car it was a tank, it had originally been a directory car for BMW head quarters staff.
Visited apex on that day. It’s funny to see myself in the background 😄 Great cars and cool owners!! I would have liked to speak to you, but you have been very busy. Hopefully next time 🙂
I don't have an M5 but I do have an e34 540i sitting in the backyard of my brother's house, who's a mechanic that specializes in German cars. It does run and drive but I'm trying to save up some cash for the restoration so that it feels like a new car when you drive it.
Jann Mardenborough's Nürburgring 2015 airborne crash is depicted in the new movie GRAN TURISMO. I wonder if it was one of the jumps that launched him, and if a giant GTR wing causes the tilt. (Sorry about the off topic note) You can see the scene on the tube: GRAN TURISMO - Official Trailer 2 (HD)
I used to own one of these. The 1 thing that really lets it down is the "Steering box" setup with about 6 balljoints or something silly like that. Absolutely no feel and very sloppy.
I was shopping for an E60 I finally decided to go with a F10 M5 it's about to get a stage 2 tune. It's a mental car that makes me question my sanity. I also have a E30 318i with a M50B28 mated to a E46 M3 6 speed with a cam exhaust intake and chip that is just as fun for completely different reasons. The M5 is a bucket list car I will get rid of, I really want a E60 as a keeper. I will keep this M5 3 more years and move on. Some modern BMWs are pretty amazing. The M line has really stepped up their game.
For EDC,
P = Practical
S = Sport
Also, this E34 does reminds me of your E34 mainly because of the colour.
I thought P stood for Pomfort

P-Program (senses driving style and adjusts)
S-Sport(Sharpens suspension)
P= Automatische Programmwahl =) A fellow E34 M5 driver

Very nice lap, let’s note the oil temp didn’t flinch? Take that new cars !!!!
INDEED!!!
I just notice that, but wondering if this is because it's mostly original? 😅
@RDSAlphard No doubt that's part of it.
And I have to guess oil weight is playing a big part too. Per the manual, I used to run 15W-40 in my E30 inline 6 and that stuff was like molasses 😂
@@sasquachjl122840 weight oil is not that heavy, newer M cars than e39 have 50-60 oils
