I have loved this since the Wentzville High School Symphonic Band played it in 1997 at the Atlanta National Adjudicators. Mr. Holsinger was friends with the band's director Bob Hansen and was present for the performance. My son played the piano portion and I was a chaperone. I used to have a recording of their performance.
I Mis this show so much! This was my freshman year marching show. It's was so much fun, but if I had to do it again I wouldn't oddly enough. I miss it though.
I played this in college with the scsu wind band/ensemble. One of my most favorite pieces I played besides Symphonic Metamorphosis & Schwanda the Bagpiper
I hope I get the opportunity to spin to this music this summer with the Cavaliers! So much room for creative expression and contrast. I can't wait to see what the design staff has in mind!
After waking up with this music in my head and listening to it here, it's in the comments section where I find out the Cavaliers will be playing this. How random is that? Excellent choice! I hope they do well. Especially after last year's show was so ... ordinary.
russell jones Excellent! I first heard the excerpts of this piece when I saw The Cadets in 1993. Amazing piece! So cool that you got to play a commission piece by Holsinger. He is one of my favorites!
I also played for north hills in the premiere. clarinet. one of my "life moments" when we played it in Hershey with the Grove City College choir, where I eventually graduated from
Jennifer, remember the guest conductor we had at Grove City? I made a mistake on his song, and he called me out on it! Amazing ear. Forget his name though. :) By the way, I still have the cassette tape recording of it.
I play in the North Hills High School Wind Ensemble now!! Its amazing that this peice was commissioned for our school. One of my favorites by Holsinger
Cadets are playing music from 1999 SCV, 2000 SCV, and Star '93 this year..... SCV is playing music from Cadets '89. Some pieces are just too good not to use again.
Hey Cavies fans, go check out Cadets '93.... We will wait... Oops.... Cadets KILLED this piece in 93! AND WONI The famous defeat of the legendary Star of Indiana show of 93. ITS BEEN DONE... REALLY WELL, and judging by last year's green machine... well..... Selecting a tune that has already won DCI for another corps, hmm... maybe not a great idea... Good Luck!
