In these series of videos David Bombal, CCIE and Chuck Black, Developer discuss the future of networking. SDN, Network automation, network programmability, APIs, NETCONF, REST APIs and lots of other technologies!
What is NFV? How do SDN and NFV work together? Is SDN the same as NFV? What are containers? How are containers different to Virtual Machines? What is Kubernetes? Which is better - Containers or Virtual Machines?
Learn from someone who wrote SDN code. Who wrote SDN books. Who understands how SDN code actually works.

This video is 5 to 10 years ahead of it's time. I watched this when it was released originally, it all seemed quite abstract. I watched it again today and am surprised by when this conversation took place.
In 5 years, those working in DC networking will be able to recognize products utilizing the technology he is discussing.
In 3 or 4 years, David can re-release this video, or make a new version with the same content and it will be more relavent and have a higher view count. These topics represent the next decade in networking.
26-27 minutes..Pure genius..the simplicity with which the NFV and SDN intersection is explained. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thank you both. Chuck is a really good communicator. He is so easy to understand
This video is so helpful in understanding these concepts
This is by far the best explanation though examples for containers, NFV and SDN. I am still unclear if SDN can fail over on the fly if needed. Or maybe this is where orchestration comes into place, and scripting as well
Wow where can I here more of him sharing information??? Awesome explanation and content.
wow, this is just awesome. I am new to the field of Telecom and Networking. All concepts were very well explained. Truly invaluable!
Hey David & Chuck great session again, thank you.
Can we have some information on how Openstack & SDN are related. Should network engineers learn Openstack cloud platform? Or any other cloud platform?
Thank you very much.. Now my confusions are gone... You are the best to learn from... I have almost all of you videos.. I have already learnt more than what I am learning at university.
Thank you #David #Bombal....
Very insightful video. Helped me understand what NFV is exactly. Thanks a lot,
Great interview! This contents are going to help me on my interview on Friday, thanks !
David, the interviews with Chuck have been great and very informative! I thank you both.
Great to see you here Du'An!
Thank you David & Chuck!
Great video, very informative and explanation was very simple to follow and.. this vid made these topics more clear to me. Thanks, Chuck and David.
Sorry for the basic question. So, you need a VM to hold the containers or the containers can be installed without VM on the physical machine? Moreover, what about container images?
Containers can be installed without VMs. VM has to have an OS on which the runtime and the app is installed. Containers are lightweight because they share the OS.
My favorite person on the Internet
you are making BIG GREAT HELP for everyone
thank you both
all gods bless you
Thank a lot. Mr. David. for your double confirm.
Brilliant video thank you both hugely enlightening! Learnt lots!
Very informative video
Thanks Sir david for uploading this.
great discussion !
So what do you guys think about using some or a combination of these to manage and alert a Unified Communication infrastructure? Cisco/Polycom, Crestron, Bi-Amp, Tesria etc. I work for a large AV integration company and I have not seen anybody or any of these vendors with an SDN solution.
Nice helpful video. By the way good luck to the English team :)
how would you categorize VNFs?
Great informative stuff, cheers for the great in-depth talk and thanks for the links, looking for more python learning so got that!
very very very helpful, thanks David.
can you arrange a similar talk show about eChannel, extranet and web silo. thank you
I thought it is gonna be @networkchuck when you said Chuck
Good talk!
