Thanks for coming up with the only accurate version. I feel bad for people who hear this and want to learn piano, and then discover that this is not a good starting piece. Some parts seem simple enough, but others require good awareness of key signature, sight reading and much more. This is beyond my caliber, maybe not if I sit down and focus for more time than I have. Some parts of this song seems like its in a flat key signature as opposed to a sharp one.

What makes this even more impressive is that you used the full version, not the instrumental to make this. Both add certain flourishes that aren't here, although the only part where I can hear it for certain is at the interlude (I hear a bit of base guitar). This is also made harder that many of the flourishes are hard to hear in the instrumental (bar 53 for example), and or not even played by the piano there, which would be even harder to hear on the full version (also you have to pick what instruments to bother transcribing). The opening for example omits the right hand linking between the different left hand phrases in the instrumental, and I can barely hear it in the full version, although it might be my brain thinking its there. You Sir/Madam are too good at this. My brain assumes you are an abused Asian teenager forced to be this good at piano since a young childhood age.
Copied the subtitles from the piano instrumental version for fun but they're a bit behind to this version (since the other one starts later) and there's no way to select all and move them forward so please turn them off if it bothers you lol

Could you do don't speak her name from Awakening? there is a version by Hari Sivan that I love, but I am terrible at learning from just synthesia, and he does not provide sheets. all of the other versions i see are not really possible to play like his is.

karlh20 MP3 uploaded. Excessive sustain happens on most of my MIDI files but I don't actually know why or how to fix it, because the triggers are there as you can hear in the MP3/video.
Winged Souls i got a yamaha dgx-630 keyboard that lets you play midis off it, and it shows you the notes and lets you turn on and off certain tracks (like drums, bass, strings) plus, i just like listening to songs in different styles of sound. got a small compilation of vgm tracks on a usb stick
Is it possible for u to make a violin sheet? I love the song but i dont know how to change from piano notes to violin notes(through hearing, etc.). I would really appreciate if u could do that
For this piece (and perhaps many others) it is possible to simply read the right hand (top stave of the piano part) and in the case of chords in the right hand, the highest note of each chord. If you still have trouble please let me know as unfortunately I am very busy over the next week or so and will not be able to do the violin sheet.
@@winged_souls engraver. interesting choice of words. I had to look up what quaver meant. I noticed in the google drive version some of that had gotten cleaned up. Trying to figure this piece out from a theory perspective is getting quite difficult because I never really learned modes (I quit formal piano exams because I was starting high school), and In the CM MTAC system, I ended up failing level 8 because that's when they through all the fancy stuff like polyrhythms, modes, chord progressions that confused me and all that fun stuff). I should be able to teach myself this. I'm dying right now trying to figure out how the chords work. Websites like hook theory aren't always "right," since they go measure by measure and my brain doesn't want to do that. My brain also likes to include all the flourishes, even though the flourishes might not follow any rule to begin with, and if hook theory is to go off of, there are modes, which I never actually learned. I never bothered learning them, because you don't REALLY need to learn them. (I learned what they are, but it was quite surface level, and the internet is terrible at teaching modes). I'm not that bad at piano, but the key signature looks annoying, since it changes a decent amount. And lastly, I finally figured out why some sections sound a bit ambiguous, its because you can read some sections in as a flat major key. This might be the hardest thing I will have played if I learn how to play this. Also, my brain thought this was jazz because of all the overly complicated 7ths and wayyy too many sharps and flats. I guess jazz has left its impression on music.
@@ilikedota5 haha I wrote engraver not because that's my job (obviously not because I suck at it) but because I would consider the double flats/sharps/stuff that isn't notated optimally as part of the engraving ie score writing part of the process (as opposed to the arrangement part for example). To me this piece is quite a simple melody and bass line without much going on outside the key, but everything in between the bass line and melody (ie the chords and the way the melody is harmonised) is interesting (I don't analyse any of the pieces I transcribe though because my transcription process allows me to ignore everything but the pitches). I will note though that you're definitely right about the observation about jazz - Japanese music in particular is heavily influenced by jazz progressions (when compared to popular/contemporary music in other cultures such as the English-speaking West).

I think I decided against doing it as there were only 2-3 notes there that weren't fine to read but I can change it in the sheet music download if you think it will be more convenient/less messy to deal with a change of clef for 3 notes than reading 5 leger lines for one note.
+8:14PMstudios Sorry for the long wait if you were waiting; I've updated the sheet music download to remove the extreme leger lines. Often I've done this by putting those notes in the left hand, which also helps with the right hand phrasing. I don't think it would be difficult for the LH to do those leaps at this tempo. However, I haven't removed the leger lines where octaves are being played and the bottom note of the octave is very low; I think it's easy enough to recognise that it's an octave. I've also put 8va lines in the sost pedal section which also had extreme amounts of leger lines before.
After playing around in this audicity, after accounting for slightly different timings between sections in the beginning, this is like a tiny bit slower than the actual version, or is it faster? Its a bit behind at certain parts and a bit ahead at certain parts.

@@winged_souls Some tweaks later (undoing the anticopyright speed change, deleting the extra trailing ends and beginnings, and I got it to perfectly match.... scarily so... You are too good at this... The only reason you can tell there are two separate tracks playing is some slightly different tunings (although that might be an artifact of processing or real world conditions or compression from downloading stuff from youtube or using an mp3 file or a variety of reasons)
if you're using audacity it might be because i don't think audacity can time stretch without also affecting the pitch (not sure if it's been changed since i last used it though)
@@winged_souls audacity can.. Or at least there is an option where it tries to. It just takes longer. I think its called change tempo vs change speed. The former readjusts for the natural pitch change I think.

Do you happen to have the score in a file type compatible for Finale softwares? I'm trying to update SpykerFX's version (ruclips.net/video/W5z6_wRVkOY/видео.html) for all the stanzas, but Finale won't recognize your notes on PDF or MIDI as the ones present on the video sheet music.
Sorry, I'm a Sibelius user, however I don't understand why Finale can't import the MIDI. MIDI import should work but you won't get the accidentals or dynamics.

I use 'arrangement' whenever I have to change something, including making multi-instrument pieces into solo piano, as although I still strive to be as true to the original as possible, I'm not simply writing down exactly what I hear, as I have to think about the best way to make it sound true to the original on a different instrument (from Google: "In music, an arrangement is a musical reconceptualization of a previously composed work. It may differ from the original work by means of reharmonization, melodic paraphrasing, orchestration, or development of the formal structure.", in which my piano arrangements differ in orchestration and often have to reharmonise or paraphrase melodically to achieve this) Sorry for the wall of text, I'm not trying to attack you, just explaining the reason I use the words I do Edit: I just looked up the definition for 'transcription' which is "an arrangement of a piece of music for a different instrument, voice, or group of these.", in which case it's still an arrangement (since that word is in the definition)

When we refer to different orchestration in the context of arrangement vs. transcription, we mean something more distinct, such as taking an orchestral piece and arranging it for steel drums, for example. A simple transcription and/or reduction generally wouldn't be considered a separate arrangement. Granted, I'm not going off of Google, just my degree in Music Education...
Tanooki As someone halfway through a composition degree I can also see where you're coming from, although we haven't really discussed transcription vs arrangement lol. I notice however that most other people who make VG/other popular culture piano pieces also use the words 'arranged by...' on the score. From where you're coming from, does that mean would you say 'I arranged this piano piece for orchestra' but 'I transcribed this orchestral piece for piano'? Both of these to me sound like they require a similar amount of musical proficiency but 'transcribe' to me gives off a vibe of 'I just wrote it down' whereas 'arrange' gives more of a 'I had to think about how to change it'. In a similar vein, how much change would you think needs to occur before a piano transcription becomes an arrangement?
+Winged Souls Transcriptions and reductions are generally intended to be as faithful a reproduction of the original as possible. Arrangements generally involve some sort of creative alteration. If one were to take an orchestral piece and convert it for concert band, but effectively preserve every musical line and retain the form, that would be a transcription. If the piece were simplified for a younger grade, be it in length, rhythmic difficulty, or instrument range, that would require actively arranging the piece as such. If one were to take a work and use it in a competitive marching band setting, the demands of marching band (time limits, need for impact points, percussion considerations) would almost necessitate changes in form/structure, modified drum parts, and exaggerated dynamics - an arrangement.

Could you do don't speak her name from Awakening? there is a version by Hari Sivan that I love, but I am terrible at learning from just synthesia, and he does not provide sheets. all of the other versions i see are not really possible to play like his is.
It kinda reminds me of Roxas's theme from Kingdom Hearts when it's only done with the piano. Unlike Roxas's theme however, I like thisa little more.

Excessive sustain happens on most of my MIDI files but I don't actually know why or how to fix it, because the triggers are there as you can hear in the MP3/video.

Winged Souls i got a yamaha dgx-630 keyboard that lets you play midis off it, and it shows you the notes and lets you turn on and off certain tracks (like drums, bass, strings)
plus, i just like listening to songs in different styles of sound. got a small compilation of vgm tracks on a usb stick
Is it possible for u to make a violin sheet? I love the song but i dont know how to change from piano notes to violin notes(through hearing, etc.). I would really appreciate if u could do that
For this piece (and perhaps many others) it is possible to simply read the right hand (top stave of the piano part) and in the case of chords in the right hand, the highest note of each chord.
If you still have trouble please let me know as unfortunately I am very busy over the next week or so and will not be able to do the violin sheet.
Why are there redundant accidentals, and how do the double sharps arise? I noticed a couple are from melodic minors.
Because I'm a horrible engraver and even more so 4 years ago where i just pressed simplify accidentals and released the score
@@winged_souls engraver. interesting choice of words. I had to look up what quaver meant. I noticed in the google drive version some of that had gotten cleaned up. Trying to figure this piece out from a theory perspective is getting quite difficult because I never really learned modes (I quit formal piano exams because I was starting high school), and In the CM MTAC system, I ended up failing level 8 because that's when they through all the fancy stuff like polyrhythms, modes, chord progressions that confused me and all that fun stuff). I should be able to teach myself this. I'm dying right now trying to figure out how the chords work. Websites like hook theory aren't always "right," since they go measure by measure and my brain doesn't want to do that. My brain also likes to include all the flourishes, even though the flourishes might not follow any rule to begin with, and if hook theory is to go off of, there are modes, which I never actually learned. I never bothered learning them, because you don't REALLY need to learn them. (I learned what they are, but it was quite surface level, and the internet is terrible at teaching modes). I'm not that bad at piano, but the key signature looks annoying, since it changes a decent amount. And lastly, I finally figured out why some sections sound a bit ambiguous, its because you can read some sections in as a flat major key. This might be the hardest thing I will have played if I learn how to play this. Also, my brain thought this was jazz because of all the overly complicated 7ths and wayyy too many sharps and flats. I guess jazz has left its impression on music.
@@ilikedota5 haha I wrote engraver not because that's my job (obviously not because I suck at it) but because I would consider the double flats/sharps/stuff that isn't notated optimally as part of the engraving ie score writing part of the process (as opposed to the arrangement part for example).
To me this piece is quite a simple melody and bass line without much going on outside the key, but everything in between the bass line and melody (ie the chords and the way the melody is harmonised) is interesting (I don't analyse any of the pieces I transcribe though because my transcription process allows me to ignore everything but the pitches). I will note though that you're definitely right about the observation about jazz - Japanese music in particular is heavily influenced by jazz progressions (when compared to popular/contemporary music in other cultures such as the English-speaking West).

HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO READ THE LEDGER LINES AT 0:58? Couldn't you just switch the right hand clef from treble to bass?

I think I decided against doing it as there were only 2-3 notes there that weren't fine to read but I can change it in the sheet music download if you think it will be more convenient/less messy to deal with a change of clef for 3 notes than reading 5 leger lines for one note.

+8:14PMstudios Sorry for the long wait if you were waiting; I've updated the sheet music download to remove the extreme leger lines. Often I've done this by putting those notes in the left hand, which also helps with the right hand phrasing. I don't think it would be difficult for the LH to do those leaps at this tempo. However, I haven't removed the leger lines where octaves are being played and the bottom note of the octave is very low; I think it's easy enough to recognise that it's an octave. I've also put 8va lines in the sost pedal section which also had extreme amounts of leger lines before.

After playing around in this audicity, after accounting for slightly different timings between sections in the beginning, this is like a tiny bit slower than the actual version, or is it faster? Its a bit behind at certain parts and a bit ahead at certain parts.

not sure what the cause of desync would be on your end, unless there was a tempo/rubato difference between the japanese and english versions, or unless you count the above file as desynced (in which case i have no case against that, i got it close enough to be able to transcribe accurately)
@@winged_souls i heard that the full version was slowed down a percent due to content id and dmca. The random stuff I do at 4 am. Syncing audio is hard, but I'm enjoying this for some reason. Thanks for entertaining my random musings.
@@winged_souls Some tweaks later (undoing the anticopyright speed change, deleting the extra trailing ends and beginnings, and I got it to perfectly match.... scarily so... You are too good at this... The only reason you can tell there are two separate tracks playing is some slightly different tunings (although that might be an artifact of processing or real world conditions or compression from downloading stuff from youtube or using an mp3 file or a variety of reasons)
if you're using audacity it might be because i don't think audacity can time stretch without also affecting the pitch (not sure if it's been changed since i last used it though)
@@winged_souls audacity can.. Or at least there is an option where it tries to. It just takes longer. I think its called change tempo vs change speed. The former readjusts for the natural pitch change I think.

Do you happen to have the score in a file type compatible for Finale softwares? I'm trying to update SpykerFX's version (ruclips.net/video/W5z6_wRVkOY/видео.html) for all the stanzas, but Finale won't recognize your notes on PDF or MIDI as the ones present on the video sheet music.
Sorry, I'm a Sibelius user, however I don't understand why Finale can't import the MIDI. MIDI import should work but you won't get the accidentals or dynamics.
Idk; I got a mess when I put your MIDI into Finale. But I found a workaround with Capella. Thanks anyway!

This is more of a piano transcription, not an arrangement...
+Tanooki I use the word 'transcription' for cases where I write down exactly what I hear and try and make it as accurate as possible as the original, including instruments (for example, for the FE Fates Menu video, in which there was only piano in the original piece, I used the word 'transcription'). I use 'arrangement' whenever I have to change something, including making multi-instrument pieces into solo piano, as although I still strive to be as true to the original as possible, I'm not simply writing down exactly what I hear, as I have to think about the best way to make it sound true to the original on a different instrument (from Google: "In music, an arrangement is a musical reconceptualization of a previously composed work. It may differ from the original work by means of reharmonization, melodic paraphrasing, orchestration, or development of the formal structure.", in which my piano arrangements differ in orchestration and often have to reharmonise or paraphrase melodically to achieve this)

Edit: I just looked up the definition for 'transcription' which is "an arrangement of a piece of music for a different instrument, voice, or group of these.", in which case it's still an arrangement (since that word is in the definition)
+Winged Souls I can see where you're coming from, but that's a very strict use of the term orchestration. When we refer to different orchestration in the context of arrangement vs. transcription, we mean something more distinct, such as taking an orchestral piece and arranging it for steel drums, for example. A simple transcription and/or reduction generally wouldn't be considered a separate arrangement. Granted, I'm not going off of Google, just my degree in Music Education...
Tanooki As someone halfway through a composition degree I can also see where you're coming from, although we haven't really discussed transcription vs arrangement lol. I notice however that most other people who make VG/other popular culture piano pieces also use the words 'arranged by...' on the score.
From where you're coming from, does that mean would you say 'I arranged this piano piece for orchestra' but 'I transcribed this orchestral piece for piano'? Both of these to me sound like they require a similar amount of musical proficiency but 'transcribe' to me gives off a vibe of 'I just wrote it down' whereas 'arrange' gives more of a 'I had to think about how to change it'.
In a similar vein, how much change would you think needs to occur before a piano transcription becomes an arrangement?
+Winged Souls Transcriptions and reductions are generally intended to be as faithful a reproduction of the original as possible. Arrangements generally involve some sort of creative alteration. If one were to take an orchestral piece and convert it for concert band, but effectively preserve every musical line and retain the form, that would be a transcription. If the piece were simplified for a younger grade, be it in length, rhythmic difficulty, or instrument range, that would require actively arranging the piece as such. If one were to take a work and use it in a competitive marching band setting, the demands of marching band (time limits, need for impact points, percussion considerations) would almost necessitate changes in form/structure, modified drum parts, and exaggerated dynamics - an arrangement.

Sorry that I have disappointed you, I'm aware that there is a chord that is a bit off but it is fixed in the mp3 and sheet music. The piano soundfont is also of higher quality in the mp3 downloads but of course I won't be able to emulate the original exactly.
