  • Hi everyone! Welcome to my gonggi practice video. If you’re new to gonggi or just want to improve, you’re in the right place! In this video, I’ll walk you through all five steps of playing gonggi, starting with basic techniques and moving up to catching five stones like a pro.
    I’m pretty good with my right hand, but this time I challenged myself to practice with my left hand for the first time. It wasn’t easy, and you’ll see me struggle and make mistakes along the way. But that’s okay-gonggi takes patience and practice!
    I’ll also share tips for better throws, catching techniques, and how to handle tricky layouts. If you’ve been wondering how to get better at gonggi, this video is perfect for you. Don’t give up if it’s hard at first; even I needed a lot of practice to improve!
    Let’s have fun learning together, and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments. I hope you enjoy the video and start loving gonggi as much as I do!

      @FLEUR-u2z  14 дней назад +1

      No worry about time! Thank you for considering 🥰
      I’m not sure if this will help, but… honestly, triangle and square shapes can be pretty tough for beginners. You need to move your hand really fast and sweep the stones in a circular motion, almost like drawing a counterclockwise circle. It’s not easy-that’s actually why I gave up on the triangle shape in this video.
      When you’re just starting out, it’s best to hope for the stones to line up in a straight row for phase 3. Once your hand gets faster, you can try tackling the triangle shape. If you get this 🔻 shape, you can pick up the stones in this order-top right, top left, then bottom center.

    • @bnlsvr
      @bnlsvr 14 дней назад

      I feel pretty fast whenever I do it without throwing one of the dice but whenever I throw one I either miss the third one of the dice or I am just a bit to slow. I understand how easy this game looks yet needs so much precision and focus. Also when I throw a dice, do I focus on the one die thats in the air or do I focus on the dice that I have to pickup before catching

    • @FLEUR-u2z
      @FLEUR-u2z  13 дней назад

      @@bnlsvr Focus on the dice you have to pick up! For a dice in the air, you have to be familiar with catching that one. So it has to be an unconscious action to throw the stone straight up and catch it.

  • @Ben24VR-ro9qe
    @Ben24VR-ro9qe 3 дня назад

    When you catch it can you put one in the other hand is that apart of the rules?

    • @FLEUR-u2z
      @FLEUR-u2z  3 дня назад

      In strict rules, you cannot. But there is an item called 'basket' in which you can take stones you caught in left hand (if you are playing gonggi by right hand). This item is permitted for beginners, or someone with small hands. If you know further information, my video about 'gonggi items' would help 😊

    Is there a height limit on how high you can throw them? People I’m playing with are throwing them very high and I don’t think it’s fair.

    • @FLEUR-u2z
      @FLEUR-u2z  15 дней назад +5

      Oh, that’s a great question! There are actually some strict rules in gonggi, but I haven’t introduced them yet because I didn’t want to discourage beginners.
      Normally, when throwing the stones, you’re only allowed to toss them up to your eye level 👀. If a friend throws higher than that, you can call out “Eye level!” and take their turn. (In Korean, 눈높이)
      There are also some fun variations.
      For example, “Baekdusan ” is when all players agree to throw the stones above their heads. If anyone throws lower, they’re out of the game.
      Another version is called “Everest,” where you have to throw the stones high enough to touch the ceiling. But, I haven’t tried that one very often.

    • @FLEUR-u2z
      @FLEUR-u2z  15 дней назад +3

      But when a beginner comes to join the game, it is hard to regulate height of throwing, so we don't require him to throw below eye level.
      Thus, if you think your friends are good enough, then follow this rule. If you’re not at that skill yet, you can throw however you like.

    • @Everybodylovesdraymond
      @Everybodylovesdraymond 15 дней назад +2

      Thank you so much! I couldn’t find that anywhere. I really appreciate the explanation and the fun variants too! I’ll sub 🎉

      Oh I see. There was a commenter who said this problem, so I made a shorts for him, which was "gonggi tips for you" - maybe you could watch this shorts.
      But finally it turned out that his gonggi stones were empty(normally there are filled with sands to get heavier) and too light.
      So, if your stones are over bouncing, check if they are too small or too light.

      Yeah, it does matter. The best surface for playing gonggi is a hard floor, and a desk or table works fine too. But it’s not a good idea to play on a soft blanket or any surface that moves easily because if the stones shift-even if you didn’t touch them-you have to end your turn.

      I have a problem, when it comes up to stage 2 and i pick up first pair of dices, its becomes harder to pick up another pair. In Which part of palm i should move dices to gather last two pieces in my hand?

    • @FLEUR-u2z
      @FLEUR-u2z  17 дней назад +2

      I usually catch the first two stones with the area where my fingers and palm meet (inner MCP joint), keeping the center of my palm as open as possible. This way, I can use most of my palm and fingers to catch the remaining two stones.
      However, one of the first challenges beginners face is not being able to catch other stones because of the ones already in their hand. That’s why, in Korea, beginners usually use an item called a “basket.” It means holding the caught stones in the other hand instead. If you’re finding it hard , you can try using this method to get used to it before challenging yourself further!
