#moredecor - definitely adds variety & possibly enrichment…🤔

When it gets warmer plz do the collecting turtle decorations from the wild. I love that idea 🤩
Duly noted!!
@@TheTurtleGirl yes it's a amazing idea. I found two really nice pieces of driftwood at a lake and I'm going to use it in my turtle tank when she gets a upgrade. Oh the beauty of nature 💕
Omg yes!!!!!
@@TheTurtleGirl ik u probably won't answer but is it ok if I just get the final tank for a baby turtle and not add so much water and when it gets older just add more water bc I'm going to be getig a turtle in the next month and I dont have a whole lot of money it was a surprise from my mama and I dont have enough to constantly upgrade so would it be ok if I just got the final tank and not add so much water?
@@Emma_davis1892 that’s what I did!
Yes we want a decor video in the spring! Id love that
thanks Elizabeth!
As a red eared slider owner, you think sometimes they just want to move their furniture around but really they are just destroying everything. You would hate my 55 galon tank, its bare bones, but i just bought a 95 galon and im going to put the 55 on top as a basking area and build up the 95 with rocks and such. Wish me luck. Ill post a picture when its done.....
Hi turtle girl I don’t have my turtle yet and I am a beginner but you have taught me so much so I am definitely putting your advice to use. Thank you so much.
Her: "you need more decorations, you need more decorations,
I think you should have more decorations, yo- you know what just comment what you think I’m going to say.
Me: "that’s what I’m doin’
hahaha!
Great video this gives me so much inspiration for when my female common snapper gets her 300 gallon stock tank this summer
that's awesome!
@@TheTurtleGirl 😃
Yessss please do a video on Decorating please 😊 i have 2 RES in 75 gallon tank and i have collected most of my stuff as well.
will do James! :)
Can't wait to see the 40 gallon tank vid. Could use some inspiration. I like these 75 gallon ones though and may need to upgrade soon.
it's gonna be a good one!
Yay ! My turtle tank made the video (last one) ! Thanks for your feedback 💜 I definitely want to try and find a really good piece of wood to fill the tank out on that side but have yet to find it . Love your videos 🌸
hooray! thanks for sharing
whats the patch of grass you used ? If you dont mind me asking
I freakin love your channel! I don't have any turtles and don't expect to get one anytime soon but I love to see the other side of the aquatic hobby! Keep putting out amazing content :)
thank you Dominic!! I appreciate the enthusiasm, thanks for the support!
I love the look of that first tank:)
I do too Peyton!
Love the vid! Hope all your pets are doing well! :)
thank you! they are!
I don't even have or intend to ever have a turtle but I can't stop watching this channel
Yes soft shelled turtles do like to bury and it actually helps them shed on their shell. I have learned this over the past 8 months with my soft shelled turtle.
thanks Nathaniel!
After watching through this series you should prolly make stickers with a catch phrase about needing more decorations 🤣 this series has given me a lot of ideas for our tank!
I have a 450 liters (118 gallons?) aquarium and it is so hard finding different and large decorations
it definitely presents a unique challenge!
I’m getting a 55 gallon for my turtle soon! I’m so excited! I want an above tank bask area however I’m afraid my crafty guy would try to escape
You could always put something over the yop
wonderful video. thank you for sharing. peace love and blessings
appreciate the support!
Yes please! Video about collecting decorations from wild!
I re-used the plastic part and suction cups of my zoo-med basking dock (largest size) with a large piece of cork bark by drilling a couple holes into the bark. It fully supports my adult female Red-eared Slider who is almost reaching 9 inches in carapace length
That's really smart!!
Great video like always!
thanks!

aw I'm glad to hear that! Barry and Gerry, the dynamic duo!
Hey love your channel, Im about to move my yearling musk from his 20 long to a 75. I have the same hanging dual light like the first tank you show im concerned that it wont be enough UV for him in the larger tank. What are your thoughts?

What kind of living plants should i put in a tank for a red ear slider?also do you have a video on what to do when moving a turtle to a new/bigger tank:)love you videos!!!
hey Emily! Some plants off the top of my head are java fern, anubias, vallisneria, and hornwort. Best of luck!
i've collected rocks for my red ear sliders and mississippi map turtle from a forest that me and my family would hike to.
that's cool!
Hello love the vids
Hey I had a question
Recently I bought a Mercury bulb for heat and uv
I wanted to know can I use cfl bulbs for turtles ..??
And how far should I place them....??
Thank you..!!
Hello! I'm twelve(using my dad's youtube account), and I got a Northern DBT a year ago. Back in November, I upgraded her 10-gallon tub to a 40-gallon breeder. To make a long story short, I spent all of my money buying the tank, a cascade 1000 canister filter, an Eheim Jager heater, a new UVB light and ZooMed stand, and new pellets but didn't have the money for the last piece - the above-tank basking area. Right now, I have an in-tank basking area with the tank only half-full. I was just about ready to purchase the ATBA but I ran into a problem. Those ATBAs are designed to fit tanks that are 13 inches wide, not 18/19 inches. I remember you saying in a video that you got a piece of wood cut that sits on the tank, and then you put the ATBA on top so that it fits the tank correctly. Could you give me the dimensions of that wood, so that I could do it too? I bought a sheet of egg crate to use for a lid, and I knew I'd have extra. I'll probably do egg crate instead of wood, but it should work the same, right?
hey there! love that you're taking responsibility to give your turtle the best habitat possible! that's awesome and I commend you for that! I actually don't know the exact dimensions, but you could actually just measure the interior of your tank and cut something that will rest on that inside lip. Egg crate could definitely work!
@@TheTurtleGirl Thank you so much!
Yea; definitely do a decoration nature walk! I’ll definitely be tuned in for that one!👍🏾
I have three red ear turtles pretty big in a 55 gallon tank they are destructive they broke their filter. I have a basking area for them but they act like they cant get on it.
I wanna get a turtle so I'm just binge watching all your videos now lol
have fun! :D
I have a turtle bigger than my hand and a tank bigger than me, it’s gonna take a lot of money and time to get it all set up and ready. I am looking forward to it tho
3:40 David lives in a cool state
says you 👀PNW for the win
Can you do a video on plants that are safe to put in a turtle's tank?
suggestion noted!
@@TheTurtleGirl thank you love the vids btw
omg totally do the how to find wild decor
this summer!
good video
appreciate it!
Smaller tanks reaction video soon? :)) Mine is a baby turtle in a 20gallon tank, just got him(river cooter) 2weeks ago.
👍
Do you have suggestions for disabled turtles? We found a yellow-bellied slider almost 3 years ago (April will be 3 years) and she had one eye and 3 legs. She was very small. But she can’t swim well or walk up most of the ramps we have for platforms. We plan to build an outdoor pond for her this spring but she has issues with gripping anything. Thanks!
I’ve had a turtle since may of last year and he’s almost a year old.....I’ve always gotten his eating schedule mixed up...do I feed him once every day? And how many pellets should I give him
Feed him twice a day one in the day and one at night how much to feed him it's how big his head is so feed him about his head size because it's also his stomach size
What sand is the best for red-eared sliders ?
I have a 40 gallon but nothing special in it so I hope that video can help me
YEAH
YEEHAW
My turtle is 2 inches long how much water should I put in its tank? It’s a red eared slider
What are some good affordable decorations for a 40gal tank
I like to use rocks that I find outside.. Also, the landscaping stepping stones at Lowe’s are pretty cheap for how big they are. Maybe 4 to 8 dollars a piece.
@@apsaquatics4402 thanks
@@CookNComedy no problem. I used Lowe’s steppingstones for my turtle and cichlid aquarium! Way cheaper than being charged by the weight like most pet stores.
Also, fake plants can be pretty inexpensive online, like a couple dollars a piece! Hmm...I wonder if you could even use dollar store stuff 🤔video idea maybe?!?
@@TheTurtleGirl great minds think a like. I have some dollar store marbles in my turtle tank 🤣
where do we sent applications for the series?
Hey what is the best filter internal or external i have 4 turtles and have trouble finding the perfect filter
I prefer canister filters, which are external!
That family fish tank had a sunfish 🤣🤣🤣
wait did it?!
Who else wants a bedroom tour 🙌
Oooooh maybeee
I do!
I do!!
Meeeeee
I Have a question turtle girl if you could reply that be great. So my turtle is swimming frantically at me for food but when I go to feed him he doesn't want to eat
How do you clean rocks you get from inside a river?
Very safe option : brush it with some big / stiff brush (not toothbrush), boil it for 1 hour, and then brush it again in cold water.
Not so-safe option : using chemical.
My yellow belly slider Elle likes to sit halfway in the water and bask
Can I put a male terrapins and map turtle in a 75 gallon for the long run?
My Turtle tank water colour is yellow...
What to do..?
I clean tank every week..
Change 25% water every week...
No driftwood in tank...
I don't use any chemicals in water...
I have canister filter with UVB...
Where do o get drift wood
where did you get you diamondback Terrapin?
I have 2 tortoise lettuce happiness but I call her ham lol
Hiho
haha aww that's cute!
@@TheTurtleGirl thx the kind is a box turtle
My turtle passed away while I was watching your video. The younger one is still there
I am so sorry 😔
I'm really sorry to hear that :(
I found a diamondback terrapin in my garage> Its about the size of a silver dollar or smaller. I don't know how long it was in the garage and have no idea how h e got there.
I quickly got him into some spring water which is all I had. He didn't look to good but I decided to try to help him. For 2 days he didn't eat. I went to the river a few miles away and got some brackish water and I filtered it and replaced my spring water. He started eating can tuna in water and fresh salmon I had in the freezer. I tried shrimp, some veggies and he wouldn't touch it.I would like to keep him for awhile until I feel he can go out on his own.The question is~ Should I get him a aquarium and what do I need to put in there for him to hide in?. Do I still need to go to the river and keep him in brackish water.I am using a coffee cup now for him in hide in.. I have him in a plastic container I used for my sweaters. Its large and he has plenty of room and I tilt it so he can get out of water if he wants to.I put a light on the water in the day time to keep it from getting to cold and off at night. I have read several articles about turtles but I need some help to keep him healthy. I know he should eat more than tuna and salmon. I need some help. He is eating and moved pretty fast for such a little thing so I think he is doing a lot better now. Comments please! Feb 23.2021
Hi there! I'd first check your state laws regarding diamondback terrapins. If you live in an area where they're native, it's possible that their ownership and taking them from the wild is restricted/illegal. So just check in on that ;) I know it's easy to get to attached to the little guys, so that's probably something you should start with.
If you are able to keep him, you can also feed frozen bloodworms to start, and try to get him to eat a diet of hatchling pellets. Zoo med has a hatchling pellet, as does omega one. I've got quite a few videos on turtle care, so feel free to do some searching around the channel as well :)
@@TheTurtleGirl ~~Florida law says It’s illegal to possess more than two of the specimens of diamondback terrapin. I don''t want to keep him but I haven't found a salt water area which is safe for him to be in. I called the marine science center and they told me of a park a few miles away but you cant get to the water there. Other places are where people use cast nets and no place for him to hide. I think he came from a pond behind our house that is deep in the woods by the river and to many snakes to go back there.I am going to call the science center again and find another place but he is doing fine right now with tuna and fresh salmon. I do put little pieces of fresh kale but I don't think he is eating it. I will look for that food you suggested. I see Petco has the hatchling pellets. One more question~~After having him and feeding him for a month or two will he adapt back into the wild???
Thank you for answering.
Hi Turtle girl! How can I submit pictures of my turtle tank to you? I would love for you to see my red eared sliders :)
did you watch 09:06? :)
I’ve been looking to upgrade my girl from a 75g to a 125g but it seems the 125g is so hard to find! No local stores around me carry them
5:32 but with one way window tint for turtle "privacy" 🐢👀?
What do I do if my turtle is not growing because we have had it since last summer and it has not grown at all
Turtles take SO long to grow it could be a years before it grows an inch depending on its species
@@blitzmau7952 ok thank you so much!!
I know that she says more decorations, but my bf and I have different opinions. He thinks having decorations will leave her less room to swim. I had giant rocks in there but whenever she jumped off her basking area she would hit it and she does seem to have less room to swim, so I don't know.
while that is definitely a consideration, I'd adapt the decorations to the size of the tank and of the turtle. In my opinion, they do need _something_ in their environment so that it's not completely sterile. It's about replicating what they might encounter in the wild.
How do you get you turtle topper to work with a 75Gal?
I special order one from etsy
Do you have suggestions for cat proofing your basking area ?
hey i have a common musk (Since i was 6-7 im 12 now) and as i was that age when i got her she didnt neccesarily have the best equipment for example she had a 15-20 gallon tank but no uvb or heat lamp as her tank was near the window(does that give enough?) and recently we made her a really long tank although its not that wide id say it could fit 30-40 gallons.she isnt very active and isnt happy as she didnt have anything to play with most her life im buying stuff for her now such as decor uva uvb and stuff like that is there anything u can reccomend to get her active and happy again or should treating her current needs help it?
it also just uses the standard basking dock
UVB is definitely important and window light does not cut it. Good filtration is also a must. Best of luck!
@@TheTurtleGirl hey quick update:uvb and heat and sand (fine grain) will come tommorow the filtration is coming today although we dont know when the decor is coming yet she seems a lot more active such as jumping on and over rocks and not just staying still most of the day.we're also more then likely going to buy her a better tank sometime in march or april.is there anything else u reccomend?
And tips for me getting a turtle please🌼☺️have a good day
Where can I find affordable UVB Lights?
some people think the bacterias can hide in the sand, what do you think?THX
do you mean anaerobic bacteria? It's not an issue as long as the sand occasionally gets stirred up. and beneficial bacteria is actually a good thing!
💚💚
always appreciate the love Kendra!
how would you clean a tank that has sand in it?
water change video here! ruclips.net/video/XWHFwuFuyLE/видео.html
i never see nesting areas. i think that a nesting vid would be awesome thank.

Stock tanks anybody?!
@@TheTurtleGirl I can’t even find stock tanks in my country lol. But I’ll buy a mini pool and keep my 2 red eared sliders there!
@@devsharma6842 me too, I'm using some kind of kiddie pool (132 US gallon if filled to the top, but i only fill it about 80 US gallon). All of that just for one 9.5" female RES 🤣.

How many times a week should I feed an axolotl?
every 2-3 days for adults!
@@TheTurtleGirl How long for like new baby axolotls? (Or whatever age they are when people buy them)
Turtle tubs be another thing you’d react to?
I totally would!
Please help me, i have a 60 litter aquarium and two cascade versamax 2, my water is always blurry... I have a chinese golden thread turtle, and a few tetras in it, what can i do?
Hmm...maybe try doing smaller more frequent water changes.
I think driftwood would be better than fake plants.. turtles are great swimmers
You should think about getting a black knobbed map turtle 🐢 they are sweet
definitely awesome looking turtles!
Does any one know where can I get tanks at I live in newyork and I can travel to New Jersey and Pennsylvania
Fish tanks can be purchased at most pet stores...keep an eye out for the dollar per gallon sale at petco! Lots of people are always trying to get rid of tanks on craigslist and the classifieds too!
What turtl that I can get for a starter
you mean a beginner turtle? I'd say musks/male painteds are great turtles to start off with... but always do your research!
