I just found your channel. Thank you for your study. I have enjoyed learning for everyone of your videos that I seen so far. Great videos for understanding scripture
Hi Heather, just got done listening and enjoyed. Feedback - perhaps people are getting their basis for God 'giving' us faith vs. 'allotting' us (Rom 12:3)..perhaps a deeper word study would benefit.
Yeah it's a failure to distinguish between justification and sanctification. The premise of that chapter is many members and how they're positioned in the body according to the gifts given by God. That doesn't speak of saving faith. That speaks of continued faith i.e., fruit of the Spirit. I'm not sure a word study would help. It's more just context.
I agree; unfortunately though, some of the new/popular/easy to read translations out there actually say 'give', ergo, easier to understand, but not an accurate translation. I liked your comparison with saving faith vs continuing faith - that'll be a great helpful explanation when I'm talking to others in the future, thx!
Great study! Question: when you say, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, does this mean the fullness of what He did. Example: Do you have to believe that He was God? That He came from Heaven as God ( Son of God, God son) into human flesh to live a sinless life to be the remission of sin. To die and resurrect. Or does it mean to just believe He existed and He died for our sins? The thief on the cross comes to mind: And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. Was it just his faith in Him that saved Him? I know you say Jesus is the only one that knows the intent of the heart, but I was just curious what does it actually mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you are saved.
Ultimately, Jesus said upon this rock - the foundation that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God - was what He was going to build His church upon. Check out Acts 9 and what Saul first preached of Jesus in the Damascus synagogue after his conversion. There is much to believe about Him, but even the everlasting gospel that will be preached during the 70th Week's 1st of 6 points - the mystery of God revealed worldwide - is that God was manifest in the flesh. What He did could not have had meaning without His personage.
Does it make sense that each gospel was written to a different group of believers (or potential believers)? For example I have heard that the gospel of Luke was directed at those of the pre-trib. redemption of believers, the gospel of Mark was directed at those who were not ready and live during the great tribulation and the gospel of Matthew was directed at the Jewish remnant during the wrath of God in the second half. The gospel according to John on the other hand may have been preaching to the choir i.e those already in the faith and seeking to increase it. To me it explains the difference in the way the gospels were presented but I sure would look forward to some discussion on it.
I have heard similar remarks but don't give them any credit. My understanding is that they were simply from different reference points all intended to convey well-rounded understanding of Jesus's person, purpose, intent, prophecies, fulfilments, etc. Since all of the gospels are informational to their target audience, all having been written well after the fact of His ministry and death, burial, and resurrection, I give no credit to the supposition they are intended for different audiences. Rather, they work in conjunction to tell a whole story. Additionally, having multiple people tell the same thing lends credibility. In the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses... Interesting that people think Luke is for pretribbers. Gonna guess that's from significant misinterpretation of Luke 21.
I left a reply to you from my comment the other day in regards to the new covenant and new heart but apparently RUclips hid it or didn't allow it to be posted so I'll re-ask here: would verses about circumcision of the heart basically infer that believers have a new heart also? I just want to have a better understanding of it. I also had said in my comment that I just saw "Daniel" at Sight and Sound Theaters in PA this past Thurs and it was amazing!!! When they sang about Jesus coming back, I couldn't hold back the tears. It was a really great show and wonderful experience, esp with how close His return is. Hit me right in the heart 🤍🤍 just starting your most recent livestream on Rev 5,6&7 now. 🥳🤍🍑🙏🕊🤴👑
Jeremiah 31 and 32 preview the NC. So does Jeremiah 4. However, they speak of it when Israel shall believe. Romans 2 speaks of it as well re: us. It's intended to contrast Spirit of the law (New Covenant with indwelling/sealing of Holy Spirit) with law written on tables of stone (Old Covenant with no sealing of HS). Hebrews 7-10 also explains these differences. It's a contrast between circumcision of the flesh required by law which couldn't save vs. believing in the Lord which does save. When you're asking about new heart, you're mostly answering your own question. NEW heart. The contrast is a heart of stone (related to the law written on tables of stone). Jeremiah 4:4. New wine. New heart. New name written. New man. New creation in Christ. Anytime you're reading about new anything, it's going to be metaphorically related to the New Covenant. Also might want to refer to my Hebrews 7-10 studies for contrasts of Old v. New. I do have to ask because I'm not sure I understand what you're asking well enough to be answering what you need me to answer. I have never been asked re: the new heart before. It's only intended to be representative of the New Covenant. Perhaps if you explain why this is a question I can better answer it?
I am going to go out on a limb here and say this isn't about new heart, it's about New Covenant and whether we are in one or not. God always deals with man through covenants. Adamic. Abrahamic. Noahic. Levitical. Davidic. Mosaic. Then New. The New Covenant, per Galatians, is based on God's promises given to Abraham in Genesis 12. The key word here is PROMISE. We are heirs according to the promise. No promise is extended to man outside of covenant. So if we aren't in covenant with God, we have no promise. This is exactly what unbelievers have... no promises. Thus, no redemption. No glorification. No eternity with Christ. Perhaps it makes it easier to understand that Abrahamic Covenant and New Covenant are the only two based on promises. Please check out Hebrews 8. The Mosaic and New are the only two conditional covenants. Jesus put the Old away and replaced it with the New, based on better promises for which Jesus is the mediator and the Spirit is the guarantor. It's really not about a new heart. I observe that language to simply be a sticking point for you. Perhaps relate covenant to promises and ask why we have anything at all to look forward to. Because God covenanted with you and guaranteed it with the Spirit. Thus, you have promises.
@heatherr4825 I sooo appreciate your reply! The reason I ask about it is because I was under the impression (before I found your channel) that we, as believers do not have a new heart and are not under new covenant either because of the teachings from those people I mentioned before. I just needed confirmation I was understanding it all correctly. I don't understand why those people even started the whole "no new heart and no new covenant for believers in this current dispensation" either?! It's very confusing to me. You definitely clear things up, I think I'm just really upset still with the crap they had me believing and are still teaching to others. It's like a light has been switched on and the stuff I thought was "deep understanding" was just a confusing mess people made up.
@@heatherr4825 thank you, thank you! I have listened to your videos about the different covenants also and they really helped! I just like to have a conversation with you about things sometimes, it just make it easier for me when I know I'm on the right track. Truly appreciate you so much!
I agree with your statement about faith. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏
