    Great sign - pro LED strip trick - wire BOTH ends of the strip to the power supply. Stops brightness dropping on long runs, reduces the chances of failure when a connector fails (solder the strips, don't use those plastic joiners!) and lowers the current on the traces.

    i really like how the burned pine followed by stain turned out. I see a lot of people burn pine and then clear coat it and I've never really cared for the look the stain makes all the difference. Also love the way you used the textured plastic for the yellow. Great work

    A simple project, with great results. I dig it. Also, I like the burn/stain thing. I'm going to have to experiment with that one... As soon as I find the time to clean my garage, assemble a shop, and then utilize the shop...

    I’m in Dallas as well. Just spent the last two days trying to get a hummingbird out of my shop! Quite the coincidence! I too have birds that often find their way in, but never a hummingbird. 14’ foot doors and still couldn’t find its way out. In a similar line of work, really enjoy the channel!

    OMG I thought it was just me who did stupid things at times!! NOT ONLY gluing the board to the table BUT nailing it to it is so "classic me" it as if you have been watching me work in my shop and stole my trade secrets too!! I don't know how many Black And Decker Work Mate portable work benches I have cut into pieces either because I wasn't watching my saw depth or where the work bench was below what I was working on, but I am currently on my like twentieth portable work bench now or something like that!! LOL

    You know why the bird was humming...... Cause he didn't know the words. !! Ever have any trouble with the LED's when after being on for a long time they get warm and the sticky pulls lose,then the strip sags or falls off ? I had to start using either contact Cement or 3m 77 spray.
    Under cabinet lighting was the worst to fall off.

    Another great sign! What if you sanded the plexy with a really fine grit paper, applied the vinyl paint mask, brushed it with clear coat to seal the edges, then sprayed on the tinting? This should eliminate having to score the edges of the mask - a tedious pain - as well as preventing the paint from capillary-ing under the mask. The main thing is - would the mask adhere well enough to sanded plexi?

    • @WesleyTreat
      @WesleyTreat  5 лет назад

      If I sanded the acrylic, the clear parts wouldn't be clear and the black parts would've been foggy.

    • @WesleyTreat
      @WesleyTreat  5 лет назад

      @@ChristopherPowell7 If you order from Amazon, order from the seller Vinyl One. There are other sellers who ship it rolled up so tight, it ruins it. Here are a couple links. (Verify the seller under the Buy Now button.)

  • @Schwuuuuup
    @Schwuuuuup 5 лет назад

    Good video! You could argue it is very self-explanatory but I prefer more narrated ones. Lengthwise 12 minutes are just fine, but the shots where you just see tools at work could be packed with a bit more information. This is not critique but only my humble opinion - others a welcome to chime in or disagree.

  • @robertoswalt319
    @robertoswalt319 5 лет назад +1

    I appreciate your showing us how sign makers achieve their special effects. Are there any considerations to consider when painting acrylic to ensure that the plastic doesn't react adversely?
    I used to think that humming birds were adorable then I watched several of them at my father in law's house. They are absolute jerks to each other. I think I know where JK Rowling got the ideal of the Golden Snitch from.

    • @WesleyTreat
      @WesleyTreat  5 лет назад

      I imagine paints with strong solvents in them would probably have a reaction, but I suppose it just comes down to testing them first.

    • @WesleyTreat
      @WesleyTreat  5 лет назад +1

      And, yeah, hummingbirds can be jerks. There's usually one that hogs the feeder and runs the other ones off.
