I really appreciate them talking about deeper topics and diving deeper into their emotional and relationship histories. It takes a lot of vulnerability to talk about this stuff in general but then to do it on a podcast, it really shows the maturity of both of them!

Well it's because ben is comfortable with his emotions where as noel isn't. He'd rather make a joke about how he or someone else is feeling than dig deeper into it. But that makes for an entertaining podcast. This is very refreshing and I would love to see then have there own podcast ben and cody are a whole entire vibe.

Every young single person needs to hear what Cody said. Especially nowadays, it's so easy for people to idealize relationships like Cody and Kelsey's and to think that they never have any conflicts. So many people seem to think that a healthy relationship should never have any conflict at all, and they'll end up passing on great partners because of that unrealistic perspective. I knew the moment I first laid eyes on my husband that I was going to marry him, but that doesn't mean it was a perfect fairytale the whole time. We struggled a lot as we figured everything out, and that conflict is what forged the strength of our relationship. That's why I wasn't surprised at all to hear that Cody and Kelsey had rough patches. You can tell by their amazing chemistry that they've built a very strong foundation together through trials and tribulations.
This gave me even more love and respect for Cody and Kelsey's relationship!

never really heard “loving someone is choosing someone over and over again” but when you think about it like that you can really think about people who don’t choose you, who you always try to make choose you, and just decide to stop trying to force that because they haven’t so why should you want them to. live your life on your terms people. there’s people out there that would choose you every time.

not to completely armchair therapize this lady based on somebody else's story about her lol, but it sounds like she has a lot of issues with shame and not knowing how to deal with it. both of these fights happened after some sort of embarrassing misfortune for her that could very easily lead to shame spiraling. ("i fell at the climbing gym in front of everybody, therefore i suck at climbing and everyone knows it and i was stupid to even think i could finish that climb." "my apartment has a rat problem, therefore i am dirty and incapable of keeping a clean home and my boyfriend thinks i'm so disgusting he has to clean it for me.") and she can't sit with that feeling or move past it, so it turns into anger and then she needs somebody else to blame so she doesn't ever have to acknowledge her own feeling of shame. it's completely not okay behavior and would definitely make her miserable to be in a relationship with, but i hope she's able to get to a better place someday.

1:26 that’s it. That’s what it is. I feel like there’s a lot of people who don’t think much about it, but having a similar sense of humor and complimentary personalities is so key for a long lasting relationship because friendship blossoms from that and that’s a solid foundation for a relationship. When you just get each other, it really enhances it all. Maybe it’s all by chance and luck but when you keep dating people you just don’t click with, it’s probably exhausting & depressing, then you come across someone who gets you, of course you’re gonna be super excited. The real luck is meeting that person, I’m sure some people never find someone who truly gets them, and settles thinking that’s the most another human being could get them and the most they’ll feel for another human being, not really knowing it’s very possible that someone out there exists who gets them more than the person they’re with and could make them feel more.
Anyways Cody’s lucky he found Kelsey :)

When people say "It shouldn't be this hard" or expect it to be "easy if it's right" they have the wrong idea about monogamous relationships. There are certain parts that do and have to feel easy in "true love"; sex is one of them, having moments of just getting each other as Cody talked about is another, but expecting the whole relationship to be easy and without issue is misinformed. And I feel like it's the fault of movies in the main stream that romanticize it in that way, but I digress... When you commit to one person you're supposed to understand that it will be hard. Imagine taking on an extremely intensive project that will take the rest of your life to complete with another human... How can anyone expect that to go without turbulence? To always agree 100%? You live, you "turbulate" together and you learn and grow forward. That's how you know you have the real deal; when you can disagree, argue, debate, but in the end, always arrive at understanding each other even without agreeing, and growing forward from there. That's the "choosing each other over and over" that old couples talk about. That's the "marriage is hard" part that people talk about. Learning to work together isn't easy, but it is so worth it and you see THAT in TikToks grandkids took of their adorable grandparents who are tickling each other and laughing at 90.

Hindsight is 20/20, but advice for everyone: NEVER keep it all to yourself. You have to have your own support systems and people you trust for advice and to lean on when in a relationship. I don’t mean that as people to talk shit to; you can learn so much about yourself and others and healthy relationships by asking family, friends, therapists, etc.

I think that saying about “love means choosing that person over and over” shouldn’t be that you’re forcing that choice ever… it should be a choice you make without a question, continually. Like, “there is no one else you are it” but in like a positive non possessive way… That’s what it sounded like it was for Cody & Kelsey

Many people are quick to call someone toxic. Someone could have a few toxic traits but doesn’t make them a toxic person necessarily. Also that girl could’ve been projecting like that due to trauma. Not that that’s an excuse, but some people do things without realizing the impact if they haven’t had proper therapy or good role models in their life.
