adding on to ashley's advice to prioritize your partner: prioritize your close interpersonal relationships in general! community and have a healthy and well taken care of support system is super important
Yeah. I don't think anyone should feel pressured to feel proud of their disabilities. It's fuckin hard. The grief over the life you could have had is hard to work through, and so is the shame. Getting to the point where you can give yourself permission to say no, to take time to heal, and to refrain from doing things you know you can't do safely takes a LOT of work. If you get to a place where you're proud, that's amazing, but I don't think it's fair to push yourself to feel that.
Polish listener here! Don't worry Maddie, your accent was very respectful :> If anything, I expected it to be stronger, cause Americans usually confuse us with Russians and do theirs instead. So I was pleasantly surprised :>
Ashley is so happy and in love and it is a joy to see 💜 Tien Tran is HILARIOUS 😂💜 And I wish we hadn't lost Maddie during this episode 😂😂 Where did they go? 😂
Ashley I am listening and am doing good I been stepping out of my comfort zone and actually flirting with ppl and it’s been working love it also love listening to your content any time any place just makes my day instantly better
When Ashley talked about trying to accept yourself as a disabled person and trying to be proud of who you are, I could really relate. I have incontinence. There have been times where I have woken up so soaked in pee that it reached my face. I would get a shower. I'd spend an hour in the shower cleaning everything. I would get out, put my pants on. By the time I put my shirt on, I had already peed my pants. Disability freaking sucks! I'm dealing with a dehydration migraine while I type this and I've peed myself about 10 times this morning (12:17am). Sometimes I just wanna end everything. I used to own a computer repair company. Now I'm terrified to stand up. And this is after 7 YEARS of trying to figure things out!
I am so sorry you’re having to deal with this. Do you have any answer as to why this is happening? I’m surprised Doctors haven’t suggested a catheter or something similar
@@landryharrell7 I do use catheters. I have to buy them out of pocket from Amazon and I leak around them. My bladder capacity is about 200ml (about 1/3 of normal size)
Disability Pride can include all the feelings and all the practices. Struggling is Pride. Accepting is Pride. Honesty is Pride. Affirming and supporting are Pride. Grief is Pride. Frustration and rage are Pride. Kindness is Pride. Relief and pain are Pride. Thriving and failing are both Pride. Limitation as kink is absolutely Pride. The whole thing - all the things - is Pride. Love to All. ❤
Hey have you ever considered having Simone Giertz on the show? It might be interesting to hear her and Ashley talk about robots and shit. Women in stem!
I saw Hilary Duff in concert and I was right near the front. During one of the slower numbers she came up and held me hand for almost the whole song. I was blown away. Her hand was super cold though. Lol
Awe, you're so sweet, Ashley! I really am doing good! Today I gave my friend a two and a half hour massage in exchange for her deep cleaning my little house!! We both feel like we got the best deal ever ❤😂
I'm tired but coping, thanks for asking. Also this episode is hilarious. I am in the uk & promise to sign up to your text list as soon as my executive function is back online
no because tell me why when they said being on the edge of your seat for the home depot content i quite literally was on the edge of my seat super excited to hear all about it
ok, the magic school bus was a cartoon, but many libraries have these things called bookmobiles, which is like an old schoolbus with all the seats taken out and bookshelves put in, and they are great because they can go from place to place, and so a larger area can be served by this small library on wheels cause it can park in a different spot (school, community center, etc) on different days. (They have some kind of straps or something to keep all the books from falling all over the place while driving.)
I'm doing mostly good, thanks! Been off on holiday to finally see my friend in person again after nearly a decade. Had a wonderful time but then came back into work being bonkers and ADHD executive function at x50 on top of anxiety stress. So it's a mixed mood at the mo! This episode was hilarious! Loved the talk about old jobs!
A person's own journey wrt their own disability is a difficult process! Part of disability pride for me is allowing myself to take up space, which can be so healing.
I don't know how i am today! Just got back from a lovely camping trip that left me feeling refreshed and recentered, but then got a ton piled on me at work today. So.... Feeling mixed!
Guest/topic idea: asexuality or demisexuality. Still gay sex related but kind of the opposite of what you usually talk about. As a demisexual person, it has been especially hard to figure out my sexual orientation and I think it would be really interesting to hear from someone else with that experience. I think Chantel Houston made a video about this years ago.
The amount of times my order has never arrived in a restaurant and I've had to specifically hunt a waiter down to ask for it long after everyone else has gotten their plates 😅
Im not well. So tierd cant sleep dont wanna eat ect but when i say that this video helped i mean it ❤ Love it 😂🎉 Hugs to Everyone and everything from sweden ❤❤❤
I've been waiting so long to talk about home depot, like that fresh wood/construction smell makes me more gay I swear. Also I love you guys, thank you for helping me smile and laugh(:
to answer your question: I'm not super well. I just came home from a week at a national debating tournament, which was incredible but also exhausting. I'm so glad to be home, but I'm also coming down off a big high, so somewhat disappointed (yk the feeling, even if I can't explain it properly). Also, I'm a bit under the weather. A few of my debating team members who I spent the week with tested positive for COVID, so I might also be coming down with that. Additionally, I have a week of school work to catch up with (AHHHH!!). But mostly, I'm pretty good.
I'm okay, (thank you for asking Ashley.) I'm still amused that your "International" tour *just* crosses the boarder into KaNadee'a and is even more international than the "World Series". I'm secretly hoping that you and Jen honeymoon in Europe and you do a show in London, because [Stage persona Ashley] OTHER counties exist! lol ;-)
I love how happy Ashley gets whenever she talks about Jen
adding on to ashley's advice to prioritize your partner: prioritize your close interpersonal relationships in general! community and have a healthy and well taken care of support system is super important
As a disabled person I LOVE that you opened up about chronic illness it's not easy but we CAN live a fulfilling beautiful life regardless ❤
You're such an inspiration!

Poor Maddie getting almost gaslit by Ashley about being a furry or not.. Gaslight, gatekeep, girl boss! 😝

I agree!
So true! And honestly Maddie probably knows better how a polish-english accent sounds like than people in Poland so I'd say go for it 😉
Ashley is so happy and in love and it is a joy to see 💜
Tien Tran is HILARIOUS 😂💜

Tien has one of the most gorgeous smiles I've ever seen.

Ashley often says that it’s easier to mention the pod to the potential guest if there’s someone you want to see!

Oh my Gawd... lawrd, please 😄
Ashley looks great in this episode! 🔥 Aside from that, congrats on the episode, it was a very fun and interesting one ❤
Was just thinking she is GLOWING here!!
As a women's basketball fan, it's so lovely to hear you all talked about the women's game
Listening to Maddie’s sharing corner this week was so relatable ❤️
As a bi woman who hasn’t explored gender a lot I FELT THAT
It would be so great to see Stevie Boebi on the podcast as she is also a disabled lesbian creator ❤ i think ashley and her would get along great!
Stevie is great!!
Yes! Stevie would be a great guest!
I saw Hilary Duff in concert and I was right near the front. During one of the slower numbers she came up and held me hand for almost the whole song. I was blown away.
Her hand was super cold though. Lol

“whAaaAAaat?” - Alex is me any time a woman says “i love that about you”

I aspire to just once do something as beautifully gay as Ashley's day off with Jen.
The K typewriter joke made me snort out loud
Poor Lucas just got thrown in with no mercy 😂😂😂
Caitlin Clark is amazing. March Madness was amazing.
Oh my! I could not put my finger on why I didn't like LSUs coach, I was picking up the vibes.
Can the sign say “love laugh lick” lol oddly fitting for #whgs 😂
"the refugees are gonna come for you now"
"SLAY!"

Love the playful banter in this episode. Ah I wished I had good friends I could hang out with 😔
💜
Lifted weights and went for a walk. Your pod makes my workouts so fun
lmao what a callback to the lost Maddie 😂
A person's own journey wrt their own disability is a difficult process! Part of disability pride for me is allowing myself to take up space, which can be so healing.
We had a mobile library bus that came once a month! Where we got to pick out books to check out and it was painted all crazy and wild on the outside 🌟
This episode is just so good and wholesome and cozy; like hanging out at a good friend’s house. 😊
Ashley!! Don't forget to let your overseas fans know that you also have a newsletter for us to sign up for!!
Just watched Ashley’s Ted talk on teaching Computer Science. Brilliant. I recommend it to anyone...she’s a joy in her commitment and enthusiasm.
Tom Hanks loves typewriters so much he wrote a book of short stories all featuring or centering on typewriters. Think it was written on a typewriter?
I don't know how i am today! Just got back from a lovely camping trip that left me feeling refreshed and recentered, but then got a ton piled on me at work today. So.... Feeling mixed!
SIX is so good and i love the way you talk about it!!!! would love to hear you podcast with the creators
Ashley, that sweater makes me sweat just by looking at it this time of year!
Jumping in to recommend physiotherapy. I had a horrible neck issue and my physio saved me.

Aahhh I remember the book bus! It was amazing 🥲
Such a great episode! Really funny
It's because we enbies have invisibility super power.
Invisibility from society
And if not invisibility, theres Octo Camo, hug a wall and it automatically camouflages.
The amount of times my order has never arrived in a restaurant and I've had to specifically hunt a waiter down to ask for it long after everyone else has gotten their plates 😅
7:37 this moment 😂😭
Targets pride collection has a t-shirt that says live laugh Lesbian. I want to frame it like a livelaughlove piece so badly.

"Being non-binary is ironically a very binary thing." is such a good basis for a great joke, put it in your Special.
I've been waiting so long to talk about home depot, like that fresh wood/construction smell makes me more gay I swear. Also I love you guys, thank you for helping me smile and laugh(:
not from NY and we had a van library that came and parked, and it was literally a van with book shelves and no seats
You could do ~live~laugh~lesbian~ like Target did 😂😂
I am reasonably good at the moment. I hope post-special release you are also going okay Ashley
As an acupuncturist this is my favorite episode
Target has Live Laugh Lesbian shirts this year in their pride collecting. I kid you not.

"modern man keyboard" was my nickname in high school
46:37 Maddie, that's an episode of 1000 Ways to Die. XD
Omg, so I am on month three off work with a sex injury to my neck. If I laugh too hard at this I could be in trouble. 😂
ASHLEY for your decor: instead of eat pray love do; EAT ASS PRAY LOVE & instead of live laugh love do LICK LAUGH LOVE

Maddie is sO cute today!, and I love how close of Ashley she is, lol
Well, I fell the other day and broke my arm. I fell from 4 inches, I guess size really doesn't matter 😂
Lol I was scrolling through the time stamps and saw furry genesis and was like can't wait to see what that's about
F IS the funniest letter on a typewriter.

In response to your question: Ashley, I am ok
HOUSTON!!!! 🙌 🎉🎉🎉🎉♥️♥️♥️♥️
Maddie gets hotter and hotter every episode. Dm me babe let's get elf ears and go to the Renaissance fair together

I am building a European tour for 2024 and I wish folks would just sign up for the list instead of negging me or getting mad at me about it!
